Miango pepper is a very spicy pepper from plateau state.

Well as real Gee, I placed a call to my friend Peter aka "Pero" to accompany me to Mama Ejiro's and he was much obliged: moments later I was at his junction and there he was smiling cheekily like a happy little boy. He jumped into the tricycle I chartered. It was as if the keke driver understood our urgency and he never tarried a bit. Manouvering expertly through the usual traffic at "Gada Biyu". We were at our destination in no time.

On reaching Mama Ejiro's, men and women from all works of life were comfortably perched on their seats doing justice to their mugs, cups and tumblers of the revered drink. Mama Ejiro's business has grown so much as I haven't been there in while, she now sells goat meat, cow head, cow tail and intestine pepper soup. To be honest, I was impressed.

We took our seats and called for service. We were seated next to a guy who was already high and inspired. He was talking with another guy but we could hear him loud and clear. He spoke of how mama Ejiro mixed his Ogogoro with herbs the last time he came around and how it cured him of fever and improved his sexual prowess. I listened keenly and decided to give it a try.

I and my friend placed our orders; four shuts each and two plates of cow head pepper soup. I asked her to give me roots, i.e. Ogogoro soaked in plant roots for several days.

Her: four shuts of roots?

Me: yes ma.

Her: strong or light

Me: ah ah, young guy like me. Strong jare.

Ladies and gentlemen the above conversation nearly put an end to my life.

Please don't laugh at me as I narrate my harrowing experience after sipping four (4) shuts of "Ogogoro", aka "Sepe", aka "Sapele water". You see I'm not new to Ogogoro; infact on a good day I can take down half a bottle all by myself. But, the problem is that I've never had it mixed with anything before.

So, early this year, in the month of January when the cold of Jos city was at its peak. You could hear the wind whistling past your ears. My very thick blanket couldn't contain it, several hot cups of my favourite Lipton couldn't keep me warm and worst still, I couldn't even take my usual chilled two bottles of beer all because of the cold. Aha! I remembered "Mama Ejiro's Ogogoro spot". Fine woman, sells pure and undiluted Sepe. I whispered a blessing to her name and off I went.
