opsy4real1: hello house! Happy weekend to u all. Pls has anyone applied for south africa tourist visa renewal lately thru lagos vfs? I wud like to knw d duration it takes if faster than for fresh application to process and if the 6-10workin days processing is maintained. I planned to submit on monday at ABUJA wich is timely guaranteed but i fear the stress of going down there perhaps i cud submit in lagos if considerable. Pls let me knw asap,.@collinsfbi and any other wit useful info to me query. Thx always.
Abuja is always better. More humane treatment, faster processing time, less stressful town. If you can afford it, you should do Abuja, it pays off.

uzhilove: Good day to u all. I have a multiple SA visa of one year and I will like ur opinion on wheter I will find a job in SA. I have both ND and BSC and also have good automobile experience (mechanic). Though I know it won't be easy especially without work permit, but I also belief all things are possible. Feel free to share ur view, wehther bad or good, opinion is opinion no wahala. Thanks
Bro, why would you think you would get a job without a work permit. It may happen but if they catch you, na back to naija be that and they don't have to think twice about the cost of your transportation, you've already paid for it. It's called 'repatriation fee'. If you want to work there, why not do the honorable thing of applying for a work permit (depends on your visa type though)?

Cheers.

smokes: Please can i get the yellow fever vaccination card at Abuja? If yes please were. Thanks
Yes, you can. Ask around for where they take vaccinations. I think they said it's in Area 3 or so (not sure now). Confirm at Wuse General Hospital and you'll get the right location.

patwolex: Pls I have a south south africa visiting visa and I also got an admission in a canadian university and I am suppose to resume by september, but I have not applied for student visa to canada...I know its not possible for me to apply in nigeria again for a canadian visa, cos the time is too short...pls, is it possible for me to apply for a canadian student visa in south africa? I mean when I get to south africa dis month end,is it possible for me to go and apply for my student visa at d canadian embassy in south africa with my nigeria passport? Pls I need an urgent answer, cos I don't ant to loose my admission....lastly, how can I defer my admission if that's d only choice left?
The big chairman himself, Collinsfbi, has answered the first part. I will only attempt to answer the second.

The process to defer your admission is different from one institution to the other. However, it starts with you communicating with them through your usual medium (I'll assume e-mail, if you processed yourself, or through your agent, if you used one). They will guide you into what forms to fill and the charges you MAY incur.

Cheers.

Nnaaiirra: Greetings everyone... I'm about to submit my application for a visitor visa — purpose of traveling is 10 weeks short course.

Please... I like to know what kind of accommodation arrangement I need put in place before submitting my file. Thank you.
Just book for an hotel online. If you have friends or family who can host you (they must have permanent resident status), let them write you a letter of introduction (indicating they will be hosting you and what you are coming to do there) along with your package.

Cheers.
TravelRe: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by TYPOP(m): 3:04pm On Jul 09, 2013
smokes: @ TYPOP, thanks for ur response. Another thing did you have to write an introductory letter while applying for study permit.
No. I did not write a letter of introduction. However, my sponsor and my interim host in SA both wrote letters of introduction.

Cheers.

damola91: @TYPOP Chairman! i have submitted the application at their abuja embassy 2 weeks ago. They told me to call back. Tried them already, number ddnt go thru. Would kip trying tho. How long is the processing supposed to take sef?!!!!!!!
Processing time depends on where you apply {(Lagos or Abuja) and (VFS or directly at the embassy)}, and what you are applying for. In all, you can keep track by calling them when they ask you to call them. The numbers they gave are going. I spoke with them last week. However, keep your passport number in hand when you call them because they will surely ask for it.

Cheers.

smokes: Im not too sure if this question has been asked and answered before but having gone thru the past post didnt see any definite answer, please need assistance on were one can obtain an accaptable police clearance in ABUJA, please would appreciate any help, thanks.
smokes: Please could someone help out if the police certificate can be obtained in ABUJA., tnx
I am not familiar with Abuja's geography but this is a known fact. You can only obtain your POLICE CLEARANCE from two major places in Nigeria (and they will process it there) viz: Force CID, Alagbon, Lagos, and Police Headquarters in Abuja. All other states will send your forms to these places for processing. So, if you are in Abuja, find your way to Police headquarters (wherever that is in Abuja), you will get it done there.

Bros, this question has been answered before. PLEASE go through this topic and you will get all the answers you need. It is when you don't get answers to particular questions that you should ask. I'm sure folks here will readily answer you then. And by the way, I also learnt most of the things I know from this topic and experience putting my package together. surecan: thanks for your reply,i have been looking for their website where i can download the application form, medical form and x ray form, pls direct me how to get it,i hope i can just go to the embassy and apply not by appointment
eddiebruk: you can get all required info on SA visa application directly through http://www.vfsglobal.com/ they are responsible for SA visa applications.
surecan: i taught VFS is only for short term visitors
kingmayor: Yes, you can get the forms at the nearest south african high commission close to you, lagos or abuja. then fill and submit at abuja. The forms are also available on the internet but there might be slight variation compared with the one that will be given to you at the high commission.
@Surecan, what you are applying for determines where you get your form. If you are applying at the High Commission, get your form there cos it's slightly different. Application at VFS is a different process. If you are applying there, go to their website.

Nnaaiirra: TYPOP, thank you once again, you've been very helpful.

—I've decided to apply for a short course (10 weeks) at a university in Cape Town—What sorta of visa (e. g. Tourist, Study permit, etc...) may I apply for?

—Can I as well lodge over N100,000+ into my account before submitting it along my sister's?—As I've stated in one of my previous posts, I current have N10k+ only in my account.

I'm sorry about the multicolored posts, especially the "Lawn green".
#keepingItSimple.
STENACO: Go and apply for a visitors visa. Any course which is less than three months does not reqiure a study permit.
As @STENACO has stated above, if you are staying for less than 3 months, you will not need the study visa. However, you need to confirm that you will be allowed to register for a course with a Tourist's Permit.

For your other question, yes. If you can boost up your account, it's a plus. Shows you are trying to make contigency funds available to yourself.

Cheers.

surecan: thank you,can one do the medical in any government hospital ,did you submit directly to the embassy or vfs
kingmayor: Yes, u can do the medicals at any recognized government hospital. Long term visas, like study permits are applied for directly at the embassy. cheesy
As @Kingmayor said, you can do your medicals ar any recognized government hospital. However, make sure it's not a specialized hospital like National Orthopaedic Hospital (Igbobi) or Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba. Once the place has a department of FAMILY MEDICINE, you are good to go.

I hope more questions wouldn't seem impolite... Please forgive my manners if it does.

Do I need to include my Statement of Account as well?

Furthermore, my "half" sister happens to bear a different surname (same mother, different fathers), wouldn't this complicate my application if I state her as a sponsor?

Asking for step to step guidelines to build a suitable application is absurd, but can you please give piece of advice on how to go about it?
Nnaaiirra,

Your questions are not absurd. On the contrary, they speak of one who wants to cross all t's and dot all I's.

To the question, yes, it is good (not compulsory) to include your own statement of account. It is usually assumed your sponsor cannot cater for ALL your needs while there.

The difference in surname does not matter in any way. Remember, she could be married. Just be sure she gives you a letter indicating she will bear all your costs. She may include your relationship in the letter as well (I think she should).

Let us know if you have any other questions. Guys are always here to help.

Cheers.

P.S. Your use of colour is appalling, especially the lemon green colour. Keep it simple man, we'll read it. Had to strain my eyes to read the lemon green.

Nnaaiirra:
Greetings—I can't be happier if "collinsfbi", "Justwise" or someone can help with my concerns about lodging money into my account to meet the required balance for a South Africa tourist visa.

I've recently completed my NYSC service year & have been using my primary account less frequently (currently have about 10k "only" in it)—However, I have available 500,000+ that belongs to me, but have been in my sister's account.

My questions/concerns are

—How best to lodge the money back into my account without VO raising an eyebrow?

—Do you think I stand a chance to be granted a visa if I simply state my sister as my sponsor?

—Since I'm currently not working, what are the document that are required of me?

Please, kindly attend to my questions/concerns to the best of your knowledge.

In advance—THANKS.
You don't need the money to be in your account. Let your sister get the statement of her account and give to you.

Also, note that you will also need her to write a letter indicating she will sponsor you for the trip. Finally, you will need a photocopy of her ID (either passport or office ID card will do). The embassy will honour it.

Requirements for visitor's visa.
How and where to get yellow card. If got wen will it be used?

Thanks.
Go to MMA International. Enter at arrivals and ask for Port Health. Take the immunization there and pay. Just #300.

When will it be used? You will need the photocopy of the main page when submitting your application. You also need the original as proof you got the vaccination. Won't leave Naija nor enter SA without it (Airport).

Thanks for d info but wld really like to knw hw I wld go abt gettint in touch
SAQA for evaluation of ma credentials and also d list of courses and universities u knw
dat doesn't require SAQA.
The possibility exist for you to get in touch with SAQA and post your documents. But given all the processes involved, I chose not to do the process myself. An agent helped me (of course for a fee) but I think it is worth the hassles. At least I have my admission. So, I may not be the best guy to tell you how to go about the process yourself.

And like I said in my earlier post, I am
TYPOP: not sure of the veracity of this claim
. So, I will not claim to know any course that does not require SAQA. I've only read it here on nairaland and some dude debunked the claim.

Cheers mate.

Like I stated earlier, the 2 accounts I used are mine & genuine. Irrespective of my annoyance, I hv decided to reapply. I'll visit the head offices of the 2 banks to collect relevant documents. I hope I get it this time. Should I ask them to write while I slot it in my application package or I should just ask them to send the letters themselves?
All the best.

Plz I wld lky to knw d procedure of getting admission into a Msc
Degree in SA nd hw to get a study permit plus wats SAQA.
Plz. I wld b vry gr8tfull to hear frm u soonest.
At the risk of you asking me to keep my trap sealed (cos you didn't direct the question to me), I'll attempt to answer some of your questions.

To gain admission for M Sc, you need first and foremost to have your credentials evaluated by SAQA. Think of SAQA as JAMB (not really structured as such). Before you can gain undergraduate admissions here, you need JAMB to say you can.

What SAQA does is to evaluate your credentials and determine whether you have the necessary qualifications and grade to pursue your chosen course (among other things). Initially, they may ask for a Certified True Copy to be sent to them. The earliest is a month (but costs more). If they are satisfied, you get a response from them. However, you may be required to send them the originals of the credentials if they see the need to investigate further.

The response from them will determine whether you will go on to apply to the university or not. However, I have heard that some courses don't require SAQA (not sure of the veracity of this claim)

All the best bro.

Martins459: Good people.......I'm still waiting for your advice/ comments

I made a s/a tourist visa application 2 weeks ago. I collected my passport yesterday and was refused on the grounds that the "signature on bank statements lacks credibility". I find this totally absurd. These 2 statements are mine and were collected directly from the banks. I intend to pursue this to a logical conclusion but I honestly don't know where to begin.
My brother, people on this page may not be able to help you. This issue pertains to Visa appeal generally and you may need to seek experts' advice. Find the lawyers' page on nairaland and I'm sure they should be able to help. I know one or two people here may have one or two words on this but until they see your post, they may not reply. Let's hope they see it on time while you also try the lawyers' page.

Cheers man.

I'm sure you can find your way to Ojota. From there, tell the touts you are going to Oregun Bus Stop (any bus should pick you). From Oregun, pick a Marwa to the UK Visa (or simply walk straight on, perpendicular to the road you were taking to Ikeja). It is not too far.

Hey, why not try going online and searching. You will be amazed at how much information exist for you. Also, no price could be given to you per se, just a range as the tuition vary from university to university and from course to course.

I think you can get it done in Lagos. And please note that it is VFS global that will attend to you not the SA High Commission. The High Commission only attends to long term permits (like Student Visa, Business Permit).

TYPOP: Hello all. I have taken my time to read your posts. I the same question with @damola91.

I got admission to UJ and am about applying for the student visa. The VFS page is not displaying any information for student page. Reading from some people now, I think the application has closed........
Sorry if anybody has been mislead by my post above. @all, let's try to verify information ourselves before we decide. Reading on this forum, I was totally discouraged that the application was CLOSED.

I can inform this whole house that the High Commission in Abuja will start receiving applications for the second semester admission in June and they will stop doing so by July ending. So, if you got the second semester admission, you will still get your visa. I was there yesterday and they gave me the BI-1738 and the medical clearance forms to fill. I will fill the medical clearance form at the Wuse General Hospital today.

Cheers all as we attempt to help others and make lives better for ourselves as well.
