For those planning to come and hustle in Vietnam and as promised by agents. See the below updates and travel advisory as at yesterday from the Nigerian Embassy in Vietnam.

NaijaVietnamese:
When ignorant people talk with so much arrogance, I find it disgusting. There is nothing in Vietnam? Lol. Are Chinese people not crossing the border into US? So, there is nothing in China too?

You claim to be in the United States yet your IQ is like that of someone who hasn’t stepped out of his village. Firstly, the official language here is Vietnamese but their government & private sector are investing heavily in English language education because they understand it would help them. Thousands of Westerners are leaving America, UK, Australia to teach in Vietnam, I guess they’re stupid to do that? We are 11 that came for the program in my set, I’m the only African & only Black, the rest came from the West.

In District 1, there are probably more foreigners, particularly from USA/UK/Australia/Europe than locals, so if there is nothing in Vietnam, why are they all coming here?

People from USA or UK can come to teach in Vietnam and find it rewarding enough (some even go to Cambodia that is lesser developed than Vietnam because they don’t have a degree), but you believe someone from a poor country like Nigeria won’t find it rewarding, doing same job those Whites are doing? Even when the Nigerian has the added advantage of doing business which those Whites can’t do?

Do you even know what is called comparative advantage?

You’re too dull abeg & must still be living in your village.
OP, you're 100% correct on this. The number of Americans, Canadians, UK citizens Australians and other EU citizens traveling to teach in Vietnam is so much that it's now difficult for black non natives mostly from Africa to get the once juicy teaching job in Vietnam.
Please whoever that is planning to come to Vietnam to hustle should better erase that idea. No matter what any AGENT tells or show you, don't believe him or her.
No factory jobs or cleaning jobs here for foreigners.
Aside from teaching (which is VERY competitive now) and maybe digital nomad, it's practically difficult to survive here. Maybe you want to come in to buy goods and ship to Nigeria, fine.
All over vietnam now, because of the relaxation of there tourist visa policy since August 2023, agents (especially from Nigeria and Ghana) has bastardized the visa that they process 90 days visa that cost $50 for over $2000 and promised them milk n honey in Vietnam. At the end of the day, they're all stranded here. As I type, over 20 Nigerians are in detention camp waiting to be deported back to Nigeria because they were caught working with tourist visa.
A word is enough for the wise

SALLYBERRY01:
STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE

PRESIDENT TINUBU CALLS FOR SUSPENSION OF SANCTIONS ON GUINEA, MALI, NIGER, AND BURKINA FASO

President Bola Tinubu has called for the suspension of economic sanctions imposed on Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Guinea by ECOWAS.

Speaking at the Extra-ordinary Summit of ECOWAS in Abuja on Saturday, President Tinubu, who is the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the organization, stated that: “Everything we did was in hopes of persuading our brothers that there existed a better path, a path that would lead to genuine improvement of their people’s welfare through democratic good governance. And this was a path each of our nations had solemnly agreed with one another pursuant to formal regional treaty and protocol.

However, the sanctions that we contemplated might help lead our brothers to the negotiating table have become a harsh stumbling block. In my mind and heart, that which is hurtful yet ineffective serves no good purpose and should be abandoned. grin

"ECOWAS was established for the unassailable objective of improving the lives of the people of this region through fraternal cooperation among all member states. This edifice was cemented on the strong foundation and apt conviction that, united as one, we can be the true masters of our destiny."

The President further explained that ECOWAS took the steps it did based on the regional ideals of security, social stability; democratic governance, political freedom, broad-based prosperity, and sustainable economic development through fair opportunity for each and every one in West Africa.

He said neither hatred nor hidden motive influenced the steps taken and that there was never any intention to douse or undermine the legitimate political aspirations of any member state or to advance the interests of any outside party.

In calling for the suspension of sanctions, President Tinubu stressed that: "We must take note of the approach of the holy month of Ramadan and of Lent. Whether you pray in the mosque or in the church, this represents a time for compassion, hope, and harmony. It is a time that we must not only seek God but also a closer relationship with brother and neighbour.

"In the Spirit of the holy month and of the Lenten period, and with hearts bestirred by goodwill towards all our people, let us extend a hand as brothers and friends to those in Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Guinea.

"What I suggest in real and practical terms is that we, my colleagues and fellow heads of state in ECOWAS, indefinitely suspend economic sanctions against Niger, Mali, Guinea and Burkina Faso and against the leadership of the military authorities in those nations."

REPATRIATION OF STRANDED NIGERIANS IN VIETNAM BACK TO NIGERIA.
The International Organization for Migration in Collaboration with the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Vietnam, is conducting a one-off repatriation exercise for stranded Nigerians in Vietnam who were deceived by unscrupulous and criminal minded agents in to coming to Vietnam for non existent high paying jobs with tourist visas, back to Nigeria.

The exercise is for those who are willing to return and not compulsory.

For those who decides not to utilize this opportunity to return will be responsible for their decision afterwards, as the Vietnamese visa policies frowns at engaging in any kind of employment with tourists visas.
If this policy is violated both the employer and the employee will face harsh punitive penalties including imprisonment.

The dateline for expression of interest in the repatriation exercise is 2nd March, 2024 to enable the IOM and the Embassy to file in the necessary papers, complete meetings with the host authorities and firmed up the preparations for the evacuation back to Nigeria.

For more instructions please consult Dr. Michael Omar +84326189705 (Hanoi), Mr Uzor +84943991563 (HCM) Hon. IKE 0907208415 (HCM)

Hi. I am writing this as I cannot find much info on the "Niger wife" residency process online..

(Niger wife, meaning foreign wife of Nigerian husband, as far as I am aware)

I came here to marry my Nigerian man, as unfortunately his visa to Australia was denied. I am on a tourist visa and now want to apply for residency so I can stay here and live with him.

But how do I apply for residency? Is it a hard process? What do I need? And can it be done quickly?

Maybe someone who has had similar experience may know more in this topic and help guide me.

My husband mentioned getting a lawyer to do everything for us, and at a faster speed. Would this help? Thank you.

A lot of discouraging words on this thread. Someone told me about this Vietnam and how studying there is affordable and visa is easy to get. Only to come on nairaland to see people advising against it. I want to sponsor my immediate elder bro with 5k pounds to relocate to Vietnam via studies, but the comments here are all crying abort mission.
Vietnam WAS good but not at the moment. The influx of people due to the relaxation of their tourist visa requirements has made the country an ALL comer affairs. So the TEACHING jobs for foreigners is scarce. As a student, it's even more difficult to survive if hoping to get job and sustain himself.
My advice is to use the money and look for other EU countries that are less expensive, if possible increase the amount

Hi boss man please what I still don’t understand is if I enter with the 90 days business Evisa how will I extend it to stay longer ? You’ve stated already that to do visa run as a Nigerian passport holder is very difficult..

Please help me I need your response before I proceed any further….
Using business visa means you already have a sponsor company. And before you pay anyone for 3 months business visa what is the agreement with the company or the person?
Let me explain how the 3 months business visa works. Coming with 3 months business visa means the company sponsoring you already have a job for you but currently processing your work permit etc. but they need you to be on ground and maybe start working for them while they process the papers.
So in this case within the 3 months they should be done with the work permit and after that apply for Temporary Residence Card (TRC) . If in this situation, you don't need to exit again.
So before coming with the 3 months business visa ensure that what said above is the situation for you else, you're not far from same predicament with the tourist visa holders.

During my NYSC days in Ondo State 2009/2010. We went to visit the House of Assembly Member representing our LGA. While waiting for the Hon. his PA (who was an elderly man as at then) started giving us advise being young guys then.
He said as a man growing up and with a future, we shouldn't say " I want to be this or that in future" until you get a wife and marry.
He said who you marry will determine if what you want to become will be a reality of illusion.
Some women will help you in achieving your dreams while some will destroy your future and happiness because of wrong choice

It can serve in as much as it is business visa
Christie171:
Can the 90 days business E-visa serve this purpose or it has to be a sticker visa from Abuja?

Pls, your response will be helpful as I don't want to make any mistake.
TravelRe: My Journey To Hanoi, Vietnam by u3fine(m):
PLEASE Just a Word of Advice: If you LIKE take If you Like Leave it.
1. You CANNOT convert a Tourist Visa to a Work Visa while in Vietnam. You MUST Exit to another country. At the moment with your Nigerian Passport, it is VERY difficult to get a country to exit to for a Visa run. I'll advise you to be patient and process your business Visa. The number of Nigerians and Africans trouping in now with Tourist Visa with the ALMIGHTY "My Agent Told Me" story and are already overstayed and stranded.
2. Nothing Like a Factory job here. If you believe your agent, It's not my money or my suffering.
3. No country will give you a visa now as a tourist visa holder in Vietnam to go on a Visa run with your Nigeria passport. The best bet is you'll go back to Nigeria after exhausting all possible options.
4. The popular and available job as a foreigner (at least 98%) is teaching and you must have a degree and TEFL.

This is my 2023 advice and not to make a wrong decision into 2024.
If you Like you take it, if you like ignore it.
FYI: Every day we deal with hundreds of Scammers in Vietnam now concerning Visa and work.

FanRong:
I'm sorry, this post is going to be a long one. But you're saving a soul if you read through and advice candidly.

My story
We've dated for 6months and we've lived together for the 6months.

On our 3rd month, I found her interesting and told her I'll like to marry her. She accepted but no engagement ring or anything to show. We just accepted by word of mouth.

Since then, I've worked towards it. I've told her to call her mum and eldest brother(dad is late) to relate my idea and understand their feeling since it won't be that easy to marry. (same state, but my people and her people are highly selective in marriage)

After several persuasion, and threat that I'll throw her out if she doesn't relate the circumstances to her family, she called the mum. And again I had to force her to call the eldest brother. She claimed she did. And that's enough. I'm ok.

Meanwhile, there's this guy(her ex) she claims helped her when she came to Lagos. It was when I started accommodating her that I found out in her chats that she was living with this guy, but lied to me she was living with her Aunt and the aunt's husband was harassing her sexually and she wants to leave. She later told me the guy, though provides for him but has never had sex with her, even when she was living in his house. These stories doesn't move me since everyone, who is not a virgin has an ex. So I forgave all that and we moved on.

She wasn't everything I need in a women, but I told myself I could train her the way I want. We continued adjusting to each others likes and dislikes.

I feed her this 6 months, provide comfortable shelter, buy her things she needs,(not want). Told her I'll do more and open a shop for her, if we get married, but she still confronts me asking why should I wait till after marriage? . I didn't allow the words move me cos Its my decision and my money and also, I'm used to gold diggers.

A good number of times, I see her as being selfish. If things doesn't benefit her, she'll not get bothered even if I'm involved.

Just this week, It became obvious to me that she argues everything I request her to do. From 24th Dec, we've been on holiday, we're always at home.
1. I'll wake her up at 9 and ask her to prepare breakfast for the family, she'll prefer to roll on the bed than do it. I'll finally have to do it myself so I can get things done and get busy.

2. I detest girls on eye lashes. I've repeatedly told her how I dislike it, but when she went to fix herself for the Christmas, she fixed the eyelashes, Contrary to my demand.

3. I got her some sneakers to upgrade her fashion style and look smarter, instead of the usual slippers and sandals she wears.
When we prepared to go to the beach a few days ago, I requested her to put on the sneakers to look more fashionable, but she refused buttressing that she must wear what she wants, sandals.

4. Few days ago, we had a heated argument and she said that if I'm not happy that she's living with me, that she can go, afterall, she has somewhere to stay. I asked her to go and she immediately called that her ex bf to come to my house. I immediately swung into action, took all her belongings out, before the ex will arrive, at the same time, retrieving the items I gifted her.
While she was struggling to have her gifted items back, our neighbours heard the struggle and had to come and settle for us. She apologized and I forgave her. we were back into the house.

5. Just yesterday , we left home together, and I locked the door and I took the keys with me. We walked down the street together to the Busstop, I have almost no friend and seldomly greet. But there's this my ex girlfriend by the roadside, she saw me and yelled my name, I went to greet her and my Fiancée picked offence, left me without waiting for me. After that I chased her and told her it's nothing because I've told her everything about this ex.
Before we could get to the Busstop, she demanded for the house keys and I gave her since she might come back earlier than me.
We couldn't say bye. The anger was clear on her face and we parted ways.

After about 15mins, I got to where I wanted to make payment for the items I picked only to notice I am not with my transaction phone. I was confused where could I have kept it, the seller insisted I may not have come to his shop with the phone, and the phone rang as I called with my second phone. so I had to call my Fiancée for assistance since she's with the keys.
At first, she said she was still around the Busstop but when I told her I needed her to go home and confirm my phones whereabout, she said she can't go back that she has gone far, shouted on me and hung the phone.

I called and called and called, but she didn't pick. Many thoughts ran into me. Who took this phone? My money? , my phone? , my sim card? . I had to find my way and trekked back about 4km to the house since I had no cash with me. And finally saw the phone ringing in my house. I was relieved.

The way she shouted to me on the phone got me unbalanced, I felt she would be fire if I get this girl as a wife.

We finally traveled to our home state today and I paid the bills for the traveling. My major plan of traveling was to see her people and do the needful before I mistakenly get her pregnant. But I'm seriously contemplating of canceling this plan and throw her out come January. I need peace.

Dear nairalanders, I'm really in the middle of the deep blue sea and the devil.

I need mature and candid advice please.
Should I continue with the marriage plans or the redflags are obvious?
