Regards patience Jonathan's issue I have not really studied that,but to best of my knowledge it's at the discretion of the governor to appoint any senior civil servant that has attained the level of director and has been so for not less than 3yrs.The question should have been was she ever employed into civil service?which is a sound YES,so let's watch the polity and know how things will unfold from the legal angle,if it's not unconstitutional then there's nothing wrong with,infact it would have been an injustice to her,given the fact that according to the state Govt she has been due for it.

Upon getting the report, the meeting chairman scratched and scratched his head for over 15 minutes while 40 of us waited patiently for instructions.

Emerging from his trance and muttering 'this job is sure getting harder by the day', he informed us to avoid trying to justify this one. Logic he said will not win this argument.

We were then informed to go after the characters of any poster on nairaland that attacks this crazy move by the government.

Beaf said ' abuse their mothers, their fathers, their children...'

We were then told to 'like' and quote each others posts.

While we sat and waited for more instructions, Mr. Beaf glared and yelled 'What? that's all that I have...Get to work and earn your salaries. You think this job is easy?'

With that he stormed out of the room.

When the Gej administration decided to clean up the oil sector which has been a drain pipe on the economy of the country,in 2011 alone fuel subsidy gulped the country of close to 2trn,worried by the colossal waste the president while re introducing the deregulation of the oil sector,also inaugurated The Petroleum revenue special task force committee comprising reps of all areas of the oil sector,the civil organisations,the organised private and labour organisation,it would be noteworthy that this task force was headed by someone who never agreed with the administration of Yaradua/GEJ and by extension the GEJ admin,Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

The Ribadu committee had membership drawn from the most credible areas of the country devoid of sentiment and politics, a Director of Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc, Mallam Abba Kyari; Mr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN); Ms. Benedicta Molokwu, Mr. Supo Sasore, (SAN); Mr. Tony Idigbe, (SAN); Mr. Anthony George-Ikoli, SAN; Dr. Omolara Akanji; Mr. Ituah Ighodalo; Mr. Bon Otti; Prof. Olusegun Okunnu; Mallam Samaila Zubairu; Mr.Ignatius Adegunle; and Mr. Gerald Ilukwe.
And it's mandate was:
- working with consultants and experts to determine and verify all petroleum upstream and downstream revenues (taxes, royalties, etc.) due and payable to the Federal Government of Nigeria;

- To take all necessary steps to collect all debts due and owing; to obtain agreements and enforce payment terms by all oil industry operators;

- designing a cross debt matrix between all agencies and parastatals of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources;

- Developing an automated platform to enable effective tracking, monitoring, and online validation of income and debt drivers of all Parastatals and Agencies in the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources;

- To work with world-class consultants to integrate systems and technology across the production chain to determine and monitor crude oil production and exports, ensuring at all times, the integrity of payments to the Federal Government of Nigeria; and,

- To submit monthly reports for ministerial review and further action.”

The bill is a welcome development. It's a sign post to GEJ's resolve to entrench local content, transparency, accountability and increased revenue in our oil sector. I applaud the proper gas pricing regime. I have no doubt that it will lead us to great heights in the exploitation of our huge gas reserves. This GEJ govt actually means well for all of us, it's just a matter of patience by us to see the dividends.
