Car TalkRe: What Is The Average Life Span Of A Car? by ubandire(m): 4:24pm On Sep 01, 2012
omodapson: I am wondering what the average life span of a car could be. From articles I have read on the internet, the average life of a car is put at around 15years or 200,000miles having considered adequate servicing. Although I have seen cars that have lasted longer than 30years in Nigeria but this usually comes at a very high price if you consider the economic factors.

So if the average life-span of a car is put at around 15years and we've got most cars coming into the country well over 15years, are we saying that the cars we buy from abroad are scraps? Btw most cars I see at junk/scrap yards (from documentaries only) in developed countries can still qualify as a 'neat' car in Nigeria.

So peeps, what do you think should be the average life span of an 'average' car. I used the word, 'average' because some cars are considered as CLASSICS.
It depends on your maintenance culture

Age is an issue. I think Chelsea is trying to reorganize.
The loan deal is good for Essien who appears to have dropped in the pecking order to Mikel.
The Real Madrid option will help him return to form after going down due to injuries.
PoliticsRe: Ohanaeze Denies Alleged Pact With Jonathan Over 2015 by ubandire(m): 4:10pm On Sep 01, 2012
NDIGBO have found a beloved son in Jonathan. We will only contest seriously in 2015 if he's not interested in seeking another term.
If Jonathan decides to contest in 2015, I can assure you that NDIGBO will support him. The Ohaneze Sec Gen can be diplomatic in his speech about Such support so as not to sound so cheap and premature. But that is the prevalent mood in the East. Peter Obi and Arthur Eze re echoed this much yesterday.

For the benefit of doubt, I seek to reproduce the reasons I gave in the other thread for NDIGBO's preference for JONA.

We have never had it so good in appointments. Our son is an army service chief for the first Time in history.

Our son is the DG NYSC.
our daughter is Aviation Minister and has shut down Enugu Airport completely for overhaul.
Last month, Aba depot started operations after many years of neglect.
Owerri-Onitsha has been pursued vigorously and nearing completion.
Onitsha -Owerri is undergoing slow rehabilitation.
9th mile was refurbished for use.
Second Niger bridge awarded.
New projects and refineries been commissioned by Jonathan in Anambra.
Power has improved in the south East significantly.
our son was given an opportunity to spearhead the reforms in power sector and will come back to own the emerging power companies in a post privatisation era. It's obvious in the way GEJ spoke glowingly of him in Anambra.

dedeike: Mr president, I believe you. And I have never been ashamed nor afraid to say it.
You are bringing something new and refreshing to governance. Under your watch, we are beginning to experience new frontiers in the art of governance.

We are beginning to see openness and transparency at its peak. Before you came, NNPC and allied oil agencies were ran like secret cults. No body knew how much was paid as subsidy or the faces behind importation. Subsidy payments were drawn as first line charge, no appriopration whatsoever. Today, we have not only seen the faces of the cabal but we have seen them being dragged to court.  Your govt has given us the first comprehensive legislation on Energy sector as PIB. Your govt is repairing our refineries and executed PPP with Vulcan for 6 new ones.

You are reforming poower. Refurbishing power plants and pursuing privatisation of PHCN. In one year, you have recorded an all time high generation of 4,477 megawatts as evidenced in the links below

http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/index.php/business/174360-power-generation-hits-4477mw

http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/business/57661-electricity-generation-hits-record-4477mw.html

http://newsbreaknigeria.com/news/Nigeria+hits+record+4%2C477.7+megawatts

You are renovating all our major international airports with Enugu shut down completely for overhaul, domestic wing of Abuja airports too. The works include massive upgrade of runways and all airport facilities.

You are sanitizing our ports, withdrawing 9 parasitic agencies from the wharfs thereby easing the clearing of goods
You are starting 9 new federal universities in one year, 2 law school campuses in Yola and Yenogoa, increased funding to 400 billion, setting up Almajiri school systems, settled all outstanding issues with ASUU thereby reducing strikes. Upgrade of lectures retirement age from 65 to 70.
Minimum wage increment for workers and corpers.

Spearheading Agricultural reforms and fertilizer redistribution and the cassava initiative which is largely misunderstood by the unintelligent.
reviving our railways. Commenced phase II of the Lagos- Kano. With Abuja-Kaduna at 30% ongoing.

Through your minister of finance, you re entrenching fiscal discipline and insisting that all projects must pass through due process causing corrupt politicians to threaten impeachment.
They say you should have implemented 100% a budget that was only passed in April all because you insist that the era of racketeering with constituency projects are gone.
Wonderfully scripted. Keep giving us the hard facts while the others keep sending useless pics and insults.
PoliticsRe: The President Nigerians Know By Paul Adepoju by ubandire(m): 12:52am On Aug 27, 2012
dedeike: The topic is a hybrid of half truths, objective criticisms and innuendos.
I appreciate the Op's assertion that Reuben Abati has been confronted with the reality of governance. If he were on the other side of the divide, he would have been the most vocal critic of this administration. I also appreciate his admission of the progress in PHCN. But that is where my admiration of the OP stops.

I take strong exception to the prediction that GEJ will go down in history as the lowest in approval rating. Please speak for yourself. Many Nigerians undertstand and still love GEJ.
They hail Jonathan for the significant improvement in power supply nationwide and support him to sustain it.
Of course, it will be sustained when the ongoing privatisation finally berths.

The PIB is going to be another milestone of this govt in the energy sector. By the time the provision regarding the involvement of host communities in operations of the oil companies is enforced, it will be praise galore in the Niger Delta. When NNPC is unbundled, PEF dissolved, and the downstream fully deregulated, it will be a new dawn that wil herald new refineries, gas plants, employment opportunities and a fall in pump price.

It is the biggest lie of the millennium that GEJ travels abroad and fails to translate that experience into better governance for tax payers. All his trips have yielded real dividends.
Today, we have SIEMENS, GENERAL ELECTRIC. Brasilian Electric giants-ELECTROBUS all coming to invest in our power sector.
VULCAN ENERGY has also come in to execute a PPP for building of 6 new refineries.
Jonathan is really working. Haters please stay away
PoliticsRe: Subsidy Scam Trial: You Can’t Travel Abroad Now, Court Tells Tukur And Two Other by ubandire(m): 6:32pm On Aug 24, 2012
These are indeed Interesting times in the lives of our nation.

Before our very eyes 'korokoro' we are seeing unbelievable things happening.

I recall when the FG started this subsidy probes by AIG and all, many had faint regard for the process. We thought it was one of those stunts by the FG intended to pool the wool over our eyes.
But here we are. We are not only seeing the AIG report being implemented (as some marketers are beginning to refund their stolen subsidy funds).we are also seeing the trial of accused persons in the subsidy scam.

Sons of leaders of the ruling Party-PDP are in court. Not ACN, CPC but PDP. interesting.
I know some haters will flood in to say my celebration is premature. I agree. They can wait, like doubting thomases, for judgement day.
But I'm excited that the anti graft train is moving steadily in the oil sector.
The refusal to grant the accused person's application, inspite of their background or influence, is a major station in this track.

Biggyd2: Yes, we have been praying Sir. Infact our knees are now sore from kneeling. We are still praying but we understand that our prayers should be backed up with acts from our government. Why won't the government provide us with the security that it promised us? I am sure that if your promise before election was that Nigerians will get security by "simply praying", you wouldn't have been voted President of the FRN! angry
Just a minute,QUE:Has the FG not been providing us with the security it promised us,look around you, apart from Boko haram which it is fighting with everything it has got,and has even gone as far condescending to the level of negotiating with them, just for peace to reign,i mean how do you stop a man from blowing up himself with a bomb he made in his KITCHENhuh, anyway where I leave there is security,if those mallus want to continue blowing themselves up they can be my guests, when it comes to theft, random kidnapping, cult war or clash, what are your state governors doing,do you know how much they each collect every month as security votes, what do they do with it,are they not the c.s.o's of their various states, that is the more reason why I am in the support of the disintegration of the Nigerian Police (NP) into state police, that way we as Nigerans get to understand that we are supposed to also hold our state governors responsible for our security, the FG should also be held responsible for security but the governors need to do their part also.the FG as long as it is in control of the apparatus of the NP should do more to ensure security and move this country forward..................WE PRAY THEE LORD ANSWER OUR PRAYERS,FOR IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME WE HAVE PRAYED.AMEN............

PoliticsRe: Pres. Jonathan Should Resign Now For Peace Sake - Former Oyo Gov, Adesina by ubandire(m): 3:45pm On Aug 13, 2012
NO LONG TIN: Former Oyo State Governor Lam Adesina has a piece of advice for President Goodluck Jonathan – he should resign, if it will bring peace.

Adesina’s advice came on the heels of wanton destruction of lives and properties by the fundamentalist Boko Haram sect in the North.

A similar counsel from the sect asking the President to either covert to Islam or resign as the condition for peace was spurned by Jonathan.

Adesina, who spoke during the 2012 Ramadan Tefsir lecture held at the Gbadamosi Olowoporoku Adesina Memorial Mosque, Felele, Ibadan, admitted that impeachment through voting remains the conventional way of removing or sacking a president.

According to the former governor and one of the leaders of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), before the coming into power by President Jonathan, the country was relatively very peaceful.

He said: “After a thorough assessment of the situation, it is my belief that we must achieve peace at this point in time because if there is no peace now, then Nigeria is going to collapse.

“Therefore, while I am calling on the Boko Haram sect to soft-pedal, I am calling on President Jonathan, if it is his resignation that will bring about peace in Nigeria, let him resign.

“To me, it has become abundantly clear that peace in Nigeria may not be achieved by President Jonathan. These people (Boko Haram) are bent on evoking violence on the people of this country.

“If there is a way by which President Jonathan can stop the Boko Haram, let him continue, but definitely I don’t think this thing can continue indefinitely. Every peace-loving Nigerian is tired of what is happening today. That is why I am saying if it is resignation that will bring peace in Nigeria, let him resign.”

Speaking on: “The effect of fundamentalism on Islam,” the Head of the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, University of Ibadan, Prof Abdul Rahmon Oloyede, said the activities of the Boko Haram sect in the past few months have proved wrong those associating Boko Haram with Islam. He described the sect as a tool in the hands of some politicians.

Oloyede, who explored the effect of fundamentalism on Islam across the globe, called on governments to make religious studies compulsory in all schools.

By so doing, he said, Nigerians would be well enlightened on the tenets of their religion, especially Islam.

At the occasion were the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Azeez Arisekola Alao, the Iyalode of Ibadanland, Chief Mrs. Aminat Abiodun, former Power Minister Elder Wole Oyelese, the ACN chair in Oyo State, Chief Akin Oke, Head of Department, Arabic and Islamic Studies, University of Ibadan, Prof Abdul Rahmon Oloyede, Caretaker Committee chairmen of the 33 council areas in Oyo State and notable Islamic leaders in the state among others.

i have been to at least 10 different countries of this world and i have never had ppl talking kilowatts, gejowatts, barthowatts, megawatts and other form of watts. how on earth nigerians can't let the supplies speak for themselves?from the first day i hear about pdp, i have known them with electricity which has been improving. how low can we be as a ppl discussing a necessity(electricity) as a luxury? this is simply daft.
HOW MANY MEGAWATTS NIGERIA HAS ACHIEVED IN CORRUPTION?
You are simply a globe trotting blind fool, what do you think you are blabbing about?it is the first time this achievement has been recorded n this country, including when your paymasters whoever they are where in power.

For many of us true Nigerians the achievement so far and ones yet to be recorded needs celebrating, in the sense that power has arguably been the greatest problem of this country,we've seen regimes come and go without achieving half of what has been done by this administration in a little over a year in office,it's very laudable our prayer should rather be that they should continue with the good works already started, this administration understands power is a necessity that's why it's striving to make it available to Nigerians.Given the distractions most of you unpatriotic wicked souls have given this administration,I clearly understand your disappointment that the administration is clearly on track.Shame on you detractors and leave us to enjoy our previously elusive adequate power supply and more democracy dividends that will come with this govt.

Kudos to GEJ and his team for demonstrating their purposeful, selfless and dynamic leadership.Nigerians are solidly behind your wonderful plans for this country.

Lastly... Where is BEAF?
KABIRU Sokoto is still in SSS detention. Same with Abu Qaqa. Senator Ali Ndume is currently facing trial in a federal high court sitting in Abuja.
The last time I checked, Ndume was granted bail upon stringent conditions and after spending a month at Kuje prison.
Since the courts discharged some other Boko haram suspects before, the SSS is now more cautious and unwilling to charge them to court.
Though it may be illegal, but it is better that these captured leaders of Boko Haram remain in detention to forestall further attacks.

When I first saw the headline, I was upset as to what other names to ascribe to Boko haram apart from Terrorists. But when I read the op, I understood what they meant.
If America should list Boko Haram as a terrorist group, we in the south would be the ultimate losers. Because even these so called northerners hardly go to America. Their own is Saudi and all those Arabic countries.
It is me and you, the average hustlers in the south, that will bear the brunt. We will be treated like Afghan or Yemen citizens. Already, we have a bad image as scammers. Add to it terrorism and we are finished.

how many power plants has GEJ laid its foundation? the Mambilla Dam Project OBJ couldn't start, why hasn't GEJ started it if he's such a hard-working visionary leader? has he expanded the transmission system beyond d scope of NIPP?

bottomline, anybody that knows what's happening in PHCN projects knows that GEJ has done nothing yet. so i wont vote for him. magana ya kare.
When yara'adua became president he discontinued with this same NIPP you are alluding to as the foundation for the stability and improvement of power supply in the country,so is not applaud able that Gej has decided to revisit it and improve on it better than even the initiators?

Hypocrisy that's our bane in this country, carry on Gej they can't bring a good man down. The end will definitely vindicate you.
