exactly. He's been in bed recently with Samsung, this is just an effort to discredit xiaomi and promote the new Samsung m series.

They better bring devices at all price points + service centers at the same time so the fans(who bought online) can help spread the word. If they only bring the Redmi Go and skip out on the rest, even their small fan base are less likely to sing praises about it.
i hope they do too, but one adage says that "you don't test the depth of a river with both legs". So whatever they do, i will understand. Also I am expecting any mi branded phone for now.

Either way, there's no easy penetration into the Nigerian market.
iTel has the low end spectrum locked down with their big batteries and under 30K prices. Last i checked, had a bigger market share than Infinix. I guess that's the power of catering to the majority out there rather than the minority(upper/lower middle class) in a country like Nigeria

Even Oppo seemed promising when they said they were coming to Nigeria but now they're offering A3s with SD450, 16GB/2GB and no fingerprint sensor for 60K

I'm not sure what to make of the conditions of doing OEM business in Nigeria tbh.
sure no easy penetration here but good feasibility study is key, xiaomi seem to be doing that based on the redmi philosophy (from what I'm seeing so far). The under 30k segment will be key to them as well and I belive they know that as well, the redmi series and the go series will surely cover that while the note series will focus on the above 40k segment.
Regarding oppo, that has always been their way, mediocre specs at exorbitant prices, bringing realme here would have been a better decision.
2019 looking interesting already wink

good to see that it's not just me thinking this way. I think they want to compete with transsion and they can't do that well if they start from the redmi notes (may feel too expensive for most Nigerian users). The go phone will be way cheaper meaning that more people will buy and again that band 28. Let's wait and see sha

PhonesRe: Redmi Note 7 Pro Camera Review by ubev01(m):

Samsung made it known it was a 12mp but have managed to "upgrade" it to perform like a 48mp. You can't tell me Xiaomi was unaware the camera was a 48 mp interpolated camera.
SD660 supports 25mp max, yes but can still "support" a 48 mp camera but the results will still be like that of a 25mp since the processor has a maximum number of megapixels for picture output.
how many pixels does the isocell gm 1 have? 48million. That makes it a 48mp sensor. Each pixel there is 0.8micron. Samsung never called the gm1 a 12mp camera, they marketed it as a 48mp which it truly is since it has 48million different pixels. The binning you talked about is meant for low light, since the pixels are smaller, 4 pixels will bine as one pixel {1.6micron} to produce a brighter shot.
Watch this video and see how the 48mp works

PhonesRe: Redmi Note 7 Pro Camera Review by ubev01(m): 5:13pm On Jan 24, 2019
mikeycharles:
Xiaomi recently launched its Redmi Note 7 phone in China. The highlight of the phone is its 48MP camera sensor on the back. They claimed to have a 48MP Samsung GM1 sensor at the back along with a secondary 5MP camera for portrait shots.
If we talk about hardware, Redmi Note 7 packs a Snapdragon 660 chipset under the hood. When we look into Snapdragon 660 features, the chipset supports only up to the 25MP single camera. So, how does Redmi Note 7 sport a 48MP camera? Is it fake? Let us know the truth behind the 48MP sensor and how it works.
https://www.theindianwire.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/redmi-note-7.jpg
The 48mp brouhaha ain't actually fake but a bit exaggerated by the company which is something most cheap ass OEMs engage in (hype a singular feature and ignore the rest). In common terms the word "interpolated" might be used here but that's not the entire truth of the matter.
Pixel Binning
The pixel binning is basically an ISP level implementation process where 4 pixels combine information into 1 pixel. In Samsung GM1 sensor, pixel binning takes pixels in a 2×2 grid and combines them into one.
Samsung-GM1-48MP-sensor
So, the information captured by 4 individual pixels is now combined into one large pixel that is also called Super Pixel. This data collected by 4 adjacent pixels combine into one “super pixel” and this is called pixel binning. However, the resulting image of this 4-in-1 pixel binning has an effective resolution 4x of the resolution of the sensor.
Basically the 48 mp is just a 12mp in reality but has been configured by Samsung to allow for more light and better resolution, Thus by combining raw data from four pixels into one, the output image is of a higher resolution as it captured a larger amount of light and also reduced the noise. Xiaomi used this sensor and claims to offer 48MP images that are actually captured from a 12MP sensor. However, the resulting image is brighter and has less noise after using the pixel binning because of the combination of four pixel’s data into one.
My issue here is this whole thing is more of a marketing gimmick since the Snapdragon 660 don't actually support 48 megapixel camera, Xiaomi keeps acting like the whole thing is a vital part of the phone. I know some people said Xiaomi might not have been aware about the whole 48mp ish, but that's a big fallacy since they purchased the chip and must have know about it's architecture and "limits".
answer these 1st, who named the sensor 48mp, xiaomi or samsung?
Sd660 supports 25mp max. Does not supporting it means that it can't work?
Watch videos of those that have tested the cam first before saying what you don't understand
