Food › Re: Check How Much My Mother Used To Buy Garri And How Much I'm Buying Now by uckay304: 3:57am On Jun 24, 2023 |
55truth: Around the mid-90s, I was a little child then still following my mother to the market. My mother was into buying and selling palm oil. I may not remember everything again but I can still remember vividly that before we returned home, she would buy 10 cups of Garri for N10. If it is 15 cups, it would be N15. 20 cups would go for N20. That's N1/cup. That was in stock to serve till the next market day.
As a son of a palm oil seller, against all odds, I have strived to attend education up to tertiary level only to come back and be hit with unemployment, in an economy with throat-cutting inflation. That same Garri that was N1/cup, the attached photo is 6 cups for N500. This is not even enough for one mouth not to talk of several mouths. How did Nigeria become this expensive and difficult for average citizens to survive amidst massive unemployment/underemployment?
The recent removal of fuel subsidy has even worsened the whole situation, making prices of goods and services beyond the reach of the common citizens.
"Can the poor breathe please?"
I am an applicant with mouths to feed, finding it difficult to survive each day. And as a Nigerian living in Nigeria, can I at least breathe until I get a job or find capital to start a business and things become better?
Undoubtedly, millions of Nigerians are in my shoes, and even worst. This is evident in the Nigerian streets.
Yahoo, kidnapping, money rituals, etc are not meant for everybody but unfortunately, the youth are being pushed into it due to the state of the economy. Note: I'm not in any way in support of the aforementioned.
In Tinubu's voice, I would say, please,
"LET THE POOR BREATH". "DON'T SUFFOCATE THEM".
And on behalf of unemployed Nigerian youths, WE WANT TO BREATHE. DO WELL TO HELP THE UNEMPLOYED WITH A JOB AND ANY OTHER SUPPORT. My brother na I must rule by incompetent Buhari cause am The man was just sent to destroy our Joy to put suffering and hardship to us I remember during Obasanjo and Jonathan regims everyone was smiling eating and wasting a lot of food but now the useless buhari just turned #8,000 a bag of good Rice to #50,000 a bag of stone and sand Rice. Is only God that will pay him back whether good or bad |

Dearlove2me: Is like I'm in a sound prof house shouting on top of my voice and no one is hearing me. It seems they don't even understand what I'm going through.
I explained everything to my family and everyone including my mother, and they keep advicing me to stand on my feet and fight for my home, so long as they's no violence. That I shouldn't divorce my husband. We always have heated argument, raising voice at each other.
My mother inlaw on the other hand, was crying on the phone. Telling me not to mention that name (divorce) ever again. All the family members are not in support of divorce, but the main person I'm married to seems not to care at all.
He obviously refused to stop gambling away with any money that comes to his hand. He presently have no job and he's owning a lot.
He's addicted and he's not making effort to stop. This is the root problem in my home. Because he exhibit all the wrong behavior as a result of this addiction. Once he have any little money, his attitude, everything changed. He becomes scary. Until he finishes everything in betting, I wouldn't be able to talk to him and he will listen.
What should I do? Where do I go that I wouldn't look like a disobedient person, dispite everyone's pleade? I'm using all my time to cry, qurrel and grieve here. Can't find myself. I am not financially stable to make a move without my family's support. I hope you will come here to tell us when he wins big money, because he could hammer via betting |

Britishcoins: Pls my fellow Nairalanders, I am in confused state of mind right now... I am in my early 30. I am not super rich but I am financially comfortable, at least living in my own apartment and having a business that give me atleast 600k monthly. I am equally the first son and my parents are late, so I am like the head of the family to my younger ones... Age is no longer at my side and I have no reason why I am still single.. But there is a problem. I have plenty female admires.. Even some which was suggested for me through families and friends.. But only 2 of them I will talk abt now
Let me call one of them Judith and the other one IFEOMA. Judith is from from the same local government with me.. I knew her when she was still in secondary school and I was apprentice then... I don't even know what was called love then.. We only greet like brother and sisters because we are in far away north then. I have relocated to another state and she too is now undergraduate, studying nursing at uni zik Awka. I normally call her because I was in good term with her mother.. She feel in love with me. But my own fear is that I am not sure if she will understand the language of hardship. She was only Dauther and last born, the family is average comfortable. The only thing she always rely most is her beauty... She is so beautiful no wonder she just won a beauty queen competition, the sun newspaper even carry the news.. But her beauty is not what attracted me.. Last December I visited her parent with just one of my uncle and they welcomed us very well.. Another issue is that she still have abt 4 years to finish her education.. And I don't want to waste more than 2 years ahead.
Now let me talk abt IFEOMA. She is from Nsukka, very far from my local government. She is living with her sister here in the same state I am staying... She is 25 and years and Judith is 22 years. She is NCE holder.. Based on my findings so far she is good in business and came from a poor family too.. She is equally a virgin, I am very sure of it.. She not too beautiful but have showed her love to me... The problem is that I have no feelings for her.. But I love her hard working.. I am planning to invite Judith to spend some weeks with me to understand her characters.
Pls I don't know how to write more.. Which one should I marry? Oga l will advise you to go for the hardworking lady who understands life than this one that will cause you heart attack. The most important thing in marriage understanding and enduring every day no be Xmas. Whether you like it or not there most be had time for life. For get about the beauty of a thing, the other is also beautiful if you make her be. Marriage no be child play, this country needs a hard working partner not someone that will be viewing herself in d mirror always, besides that one that said people admire me because of my beauty bla bla is not ur wife. Marry ur play mate and hardworking person. A word is enough for a wise Good luck |

Christians will not vote for APC.... look at what is happening in kaduna MUZLEM/MUZLEM REGIME
No student will vote for APC....our future in danger should APC govt continue in Power after what they did to Nigerians we will never forget...
Lekki MASSACRE 😭😭😭😭😭 Still fresh in our mind.
APC may win slightly in Southwest.
last presidential election APC was controlling the six states in south west but the results of the presidential election was too close to call, PDP even won Oyo and Ondo with seating APC governors. See data below:
Ekiti (APC 219,231, PDP 154,032) Osun (APC 347,634, PDP 337,377) Ogun (APC 281,762, PDP 194,655) Oyo (APC 365,229, PDP 366,690) Ondo (APC 241,769, PDP 275,901) Lagos (APC 580,825, PDP 448,015) Total (APC, 2,036,450, PDP 1,776,670).
The people that are making noise, thinking a certain party is administering the state, will give an edge. I just pity them. The performance of APC had not even helped them but they are convenient to make noise on state election matter. For years now, APGA had been winning Anambra Governorship election but at the Presidential level, PDP had been carrying the day.
No doubt, Tinubu will want to win big in south west, then throw around dollars and naira but I doubt he will get pass 55% of the votes with his money because people are angry because of hunger. No Lecturer will even vote for APC mark my word except Tinubu's brother if at all he will |

lhordspy: Lol. Where in bornu is this for a starter.
Then secondly, may i need to remind you what happened in 2019. Out of approximately 1m voters turnout in this particular state. APC had 900k + , PDP had just 81k.
So you see, my friends. Everyone has got supporters. But the most important thing here is how large is the voters base, and that is what you should be scared of. ..
It isnt about if PDP or LP have supporters in the north. Even SDP do. But the question is the distance by which the votes will be seperated.
My brother, the distance between APC and PDP votes in bornu state go long pass from here to Rome. Some of those supporters just come out to look for money, when the main election kick start they will all vote their choices |
