An Arochukwu man with an Ibibio last name cannot claim pure Igbo coz its quite obvious there is Ibibio  blood there. I happen to come from a family where last names are Ibibio and 1st names are Igbo. I don't have cousins straight from Calabar even though some members have married Efiks, but I do know that though I speak only Igbo I know Aro dialect is mixed with Ibibio. In Awka we do Egwu Igede which is common among Northern Igbos and Southern Benue groups. Igede is the name of a small ethnic group in Benue area. We don't have identity issues. We dont use our rich heritage to cause problems in Igbo land instead we use it to serve as a bridging gap.

Ibime and co should copy other Igbos, Ibibios, Idoma ppl and learn to use their links with others to promote harmony, peace and justice. When you are about to mistreat an Ijaw, Igbo, Idoma, Ibibio community just realize that these ppl are ur relatives and ur people share ancestors. The fact here is that we all have issues to deal with and many are dealing with it. Progress is being made. Ohanaeze is headed by an Anioma from Midwest. The VP is from Rivers. So please tell me is that not a sign of unity and coming together among the Igbos. Truth of the matter is that the Igbo, Efik, Ijaw, Ogoni, can never be perfect but they can be better. I actually read the article by Sam-James Hedded. I'm not sure of the relationship between Ijaw people's association and MEND, but let me just say that while the article attempted to immortalize Adaka Boro, it did not go far enough to look back and make a critical analysis of the problems of the Igbos and their Ijaw cousins.
From all I know Adaka Boro betrayed his Eastern Nigerian brethren and joined forces with the Western and Northern Nigerians who later killed him. Ken saro-Wiwa did same thing too; and we all know his fate. The task before all of us is to make a critical and honest assesment of the circumstances surrounding the Eastern/igbo struggle in the 1960s vs what obtains today.
History will tell whether it was wise to join forces with outsiders to crush your brother simply because of natural and internal problems.

He put the money back in the state to get buses, taxis and improve roads. The governor needs to look for other ways to sponsor state projects abeg. If he allows them to give bribes then they'll think its all okay and who says the next governor won't pocket the money to himself instead of improving the lives of the citizens. Bribery is dead wrong but actually using it to improve transportation now kinda makes it harder to simply lump him with the rest of other governors. He is not like the rest of em who will simply provide cars for their families. In Awka he built governor's lodge so that governors won't be spending state money building their personal mansions and then stay there and the next governor will do the same thing. I condemn his actions but to haul him into jail for now is what I won't support. He is actually putting the money back in the state thus creating jobs for people. Nigeria is so corrupt that his actions don't even seem so terrible compared to past and present governors.

Now are we having shortage of contractors that he can't do away with those ones? Also politicians always collect gifts and those are to me forms of bribes so that the contractor gets another contract. If the contractors are actually doing the projects and building what they are supposed to build when they get sponsored and then give the governor gifts to entice him to call em again then that is wrong but like he said put it back in the state. Governors everywhere even da USA get gifts and its really bribing but that is why laws are created to reduce the amount of gifts or sum of money they can give to politicians.

I thought it about this topic and I gotta say that Ojukwu and Uwazuruike cannot be in anyway King of Igbos since they fought or now fighting for the actualization of the Biafran state which is not exclusively Igbo. Uwazuruike and Ojukwu are leaders of Biafra, not just Igbo.
