soberdrunk: I will continue to say it, no matter how much Senator Akpabio "allegedly" stole or the amount of evil he 'allegedly' committed, that man performed magic in Akwa Ibom in terms of road construction, the present governor has a lot to do if he intends to outshine his predecessor and i dont reckon he will achieve that by throwing big anniversary parties....... Akpabio did well relative to the kind of governance we'd been used to in Nigeria. Don't mind the opinions of kids on nairaland who condemn anything from the south South as evil. That man really put AKS back on the map in a very short time. In Udoms case we could argue he hasn't had the kind of funding Akpabio had in his tenure cos of "kwarapshiun" fight and general fall in crude oil revenue |

Simongm: That is the effect of Yoruba summit.
Modified:
To those quoting me and saying rubish, has your people ever come together to project a common position? Today, Kanu is agitating for biafra, tomorrow your Governors are shouting one Nigeria. Tell me who will take you serious? Here, it is the Yoruba summit that has sent a strong wave across the nation just because of the way we're well coordinated, the succes recorded at the summit and the support we got from our traditional rulers and people in government...even VP sent a representative to the summit. Mind you, i am a Yoruba from Kogi state and we had some representative' at that summit.
For these reasons, the North have no other option than to come together and come up with a position too. One thing we must look at here is the cordination, has your people ever come together to project a common position before? Tell your people including those in government to come up with a position and see if FG will not take you serious. The only response you got as a result of your agitation was the quit notice and we all witness' how you guys reacted to it(begging those northern youths up and down). This move by the Northerners is as a result of the succes recorded in Ibadan and not your agitation as touching biafra. who is this kid? |

thats all i know.....
a war between cameroon and nigeria could break out...we just want to be ready...
nigeria doesnt care about bakassi no more, but cameroon is breaking the agreement to look for the former nigerians in bakassi,..
cameroon is eyeing more territory to take away from nigeria.... Makes sense giving the killings of 96 Bakassi Nigerians by Cameroon gendarmes recently. But Umuahia Kanu's home is hundreds of km from the closest border with Cameroon. Infact the only states bordering Cameroon are Akwa ibom, Cross river, Adamawa, Taraba and Borno. How come no military presence has been reported there This whole incident has nothing to do with the Cameroon thing. |

JeffreyJamez: All of you shouting "if it's Nigeria, this and that.." if the government tells you to evacuate your homes, will answer them? I remember before the Lekki Floods the Lagos State government warned residents about it but did they listen?. We are always quick to castigate the government forgetting naturally we Nigerians are very stubborn and would rather say "God forbid" , "It's not my portion" or go to one Church and sit-down than be proactive. Nigerians are the problem of Nigeria.
Look at these photos. All I see here are bunch of Civilised people. Look at the filling station, very organized queue.but for here some una go don cut one corner to go front. The Lagos State govt warned them..." did they provide adequate arrangements for an evacuation? Did they actively put measures in place to protect Infrastructure and minimise damages resulting from the predicted flooding? They simply paid lip service to the problem like all Nigerian govts do. They drink and they forget things. |

HEIR: Mtcheew......... Army and naval personnel are the latest oil thieves in the Niger delta, bunkering kings actually. They either own the refinery, control or collect bribe from the locals oil thieves. If you follow this story closely, you will find out an argument or failure from either parties to meet up their end of the bargain that led to this. The last time I visited a local community in the creek ran into some guys loading refined diesel into trucks with a army outpost less that a mile away. Most of the Army and Naval officers posted to the creeks are stinky rich from illegal bunkering. Exactly, I'm glad you mentioned this. What most Nigerians don't know is the army are heavily involved in bunkery. Maybe this is a case of negotiations going wrong or a new army officer trying to make a statement to be taken serious. I bet you in 2 wee's time this particular camp will be up and running after the officer in charge has been settled. |

RZArecta: Whatever, thank God the stadium is there. If you don't like it, make a rope useful to your neck. Teslim Balogun stadium is just across the road from the National stadium in surulere yet nobody brought out four figure tables to calculate anything. It's been usually people from Ogbomosho and ijebu who have been complaining about this stadium, they even complained about why Bayelsa needed over head bridge but no effort on infrastructural development is questioned in their region even when a governor used over 78 million to set up a website abi na how many million to dig ordinary borehole. They even complained about maritime university in Delta state, why should I complain about what contributed in putting my own region on the world map ? That is their way my bro. Before Akpabio no one travelled to Uyo for anything except oil work, now Uyo is always in the forefront when ever Nigeria hosts any football game. Had it been Ambode did the same thing ( No offence intended. He's still one of Nigeria's best leaders) nairaland front page would have been full with praise singing. The stadium is paying off. It has given the people of the state a sense of pride among other things |

Ehiscotch: 250 million dollars is freaking inflated. The governor ought to account for such a poorly equipped and improperly structured stadium. He ought to know that building a stadium in Nigeria doesn't generate enough revenue to cater for both the funds used in building the stadium(Capital) and the recurrent expenditure that will be incured in maintenaning the stadium in every year's budget. Where were his heavily and handsomely paid special advisers when you need them? The governor in my take was in too much a hurry to erect a monument that'd be named after himself and his half brained advisors or himself thought this up as a best way to do so. Stadiums are expensive dear. check how much the national stadium was built for or the Emirates stadium. |

Op I can relate very well to this problem. Four months ago after my job training I was posted to the field to join a team of two engineers in Ogun state. I grew up in a English speaking home in pH. The only other language I understand quite well is Igbo. Unfortunately for me, the two lead engineers were Yoruba and their brothers too who usually went out with us. My team mates weren't graduates really so even the little pigin English they managed was a struggle. Every single conversation in the vehicle between them was in Yoruba even though I regularly complained of being lost. Their response would be like "u go learn am by force na " . It was so bad we'd be going to a site and I wouldn't have the slightest idea where We were going or what we were going to do. Even when an important information came they'll conveniently tackle it amongst themselves leaving me out. They were times I felt mad and bitter in myself cos I felt useless and under utilised. I just kept praying and hoping I'll get transferred sooner or later before I lost my entire sanity. I complained to my supervisor initially about the whole thing and their was little he could do. Gradually, I put my head down and began to pick up meanings from conversations by just listening calmly until I finally got used to them. About a month ago though I got transferred to Lagos ending my bitter language struggle for good. At times my former team mates call saying they miss me and I'm like, " I no miss you o! I like where I dey now". The whole experience was mentally harrowing and I don't wish it even to my enemy. Op just keep calm and put your ears down, hopefully you'll catch a few words gradually while you keep praying for a change. |

Nigeria can afford to keep recruiting more soldoers every month, fromm all parts of Nigeria, arm them with weapons from all parts of the world and can do so till eternity.
Can you miscreants keep up with that? You muder 4 soldiers in cold blood, they will raze down yur community and waste 40 in return. If it gets beyond a point, they will use Napalm from the air and just burn down the whole area. Nothing, not even creek mudfish will survive.
Think about it properly, before you start a fight you cant win nor even finish. "Government" is Soverign and a Continium.
But l want the Military to gather intelligence properly and really ascertain where the murderers come from because it is not impossible that the perpetrators come from another village and do the damage somewhere else so as to divert attention away.
Once that is done and the poit zero i.d'ed, the whole area should be nuked, figuratively speaking. Pls shut up |

First you should know what the reason for the heightened insecurity in Nigeria and especially Port Harcourt is the recession. The oil recession hit port Harcourt badly cos nearly all the money in the state comes from the oil industries. When their is massive hunger crimes thrives. If you look very well, this kidnappings along the east west road began in 2015 was at the very peak in 2016. Ameachi wouldn't have done shit about it, unless he goes about using scarce govt funds to pay cultists to keep the peace like Peter Odili did. |

Tolexander: someone that had nothing to offer in the first tenure is unfit to be given a second chance.
Our politicians' second tenure is always more disastrous than the first. Wike isn't the problem. The kind of killings along the east west road needs serious military intervention. That's what we have a Federal government for. When an issue is clearly bigger than the governor and the police, troops should be brought in. It's what Yar'Adua did in the past with Port Harcourt, Jonathan did with the dreaded kidnappers in Aba. Buhari should act strongly and clear the criminals in Emuoha |
