Oga Rochas was already very wealthy before ruling imo state. He had already set up the Rochas foundation, sponsored the education of hundreds of kids from many financially challenged families . We may hate Rochas for his obsession with graven images but questioning the source of the N500,000 he gave this kid is ridiculous for a man that has given millions of his personal money to the poor over the years. Then, Rocha's was not entrusted with public fund as a governor of a state. Now every kobo he spends should be accounted for. Take it like that No I will not take it like that! So if Rochas should spend his personal money to buy a car it should be investigated cos he's governor If Rochas buys a plot of land it should be red flagged cos he's governor? It's only if he spends money obviously above his income or financial status he should be investigated. N500,000 shouldn't be a cause for worry for someone of his financial status. Let's learn to ignore frivolities and save our strength for tougher battles that deserve our attention. |

Wike is running Rivers State like his personal estate with budget under secrecy.Money meant for the development of the state is been looted with reckless abandon and nobody, not even the state law makers can raise a voice because he have pocketed and demobilised their powers.
This is the worst and most corrupt administration in Rivers State after Dr Peter Odili.
Time will tell. What proof do have that he's using Rivers State money? People just wake up with baseless accusations so early in the morning cos their "brother" didn't get the position. Rivers State under wike has seen sustainable progress despite drop in oil income reduced Federal allocation. Concern yourself with what is going on in Oshogbo!!! |

100 years to come,It's more unlikely an Igbo President will surface.Or do you think the chant for "secession" is all what every region needs to do in laying claim to the highest office in the Country?
In 2019...Vote Buhari. He will end his tenure by 2023 and the power will move back to SOUTH(in general) not the microscopic SE.Learn that the legitimate way of selecting a Political office holder remains by ELECTION which is a clear game of numbers.
This 2023,You expect the Northerners support the candidacy of a region historically known for impulse domination and ethnic favouritism likewise their disgusting lousiness in the political space.
The chance of a SS getting the presidency ahead of SE is damn high.Kindly note that whenever the North complete its 8 or 12 years. It's yoruba's turn again.I'm sorry that's the sad reality. Lol! People from this tribe talk and boast too much! |

The little they get from fed allocations are being properly utilized and the south administrators are not doing anything. I just hope other dormant and nonperforming governors will see these and wake up. Gradually they are building that region back and we are forming educated and oil rich. This was how they got the best roads from the inception of this federation. When president Jonathan awarded East West contract and I saw the kind of roads being built by the local un-serious SENTRACO company I just weep for them. Drainage beside those federal roads are not even as deep as the gutters in my compound and they were giving them certificate of completion and commissioning the roads. Most of them have collapsed now. I pray we wake up. And this region IGR except for Lagos and Ogun is second to none. They are really trying Lol! Have you even been to the north before? mbhs139: You see my friend, I hardly comment on this forum, for obvious reasons, amongst which is the lack of decorum exhibit here. But I'm constrained to comment on this particular case this morning.
You see, I think the Igbos, in Nigeria, are politically naive. Unlike the Yorubas and the Hausas, how can you expect every Indigbo to belong to just one political party-APGA? No one wins a general election in a polarised country like Nigeria?
Take the SW for instance, before it used to be the AD, then it transformed into AC, then ACN and now the APC, all in their bid and effort to be relevant at the centre, aligning with friends and foes alike. Remember the saying in politics "no parmanent friend, no parmanent foe".
But the Igbos sees every other person as their enemies.
Well, this is my humble opinion and I stand to be corrected. Lol! I think you're the one guilty of naivety here. I won't go into all the details, but your summation that "Igbos" see everyone as an enemy is probably an effect of spending to much time reading tribal insults and confrontation on nairaland. In the real world people don't have time for all those hate shit except poorly exposed people who haven't really had strong contact with people from other tribes and it's a general thing. I live in Ogun state and when I first moved in everyone was avoiding me and gossiping like a plague cos I'm not Yoruba. But now, most of them are my close friends. They even trust me more than their Brothers. That's life, not nairaland. |

If you think ACN or that greedy frog eyed thief Y'all call a political godfather changed Lagos then you need to talk to your parents who saw Lagos in the 70's and 80's. Lagos has always been the melting point for Nigeria's economy, wealth, trade, entertainment, and everything. It's were all the money made in Nigeria, shared in Abuja or mined from the Niger Delta is spent so it should be a hell more developed than what it is now. Lagos should be Africa's Newyork by now not comparing with cities that were basically villages in the 80's. The infrastructure in that city is sickening for a city that was already a British colony in 1861. |

Oil constitutes only 30% of national budget (FG and States). Federal tax is about 15%, most of it from the SW. total revenue for FG is about 45%. IGR for states is now above 55% and growing. Most of it from Lagos. |

blaquebelle: Hey Nairalanders,
I'm currently in a state of confusion now and i thought i could reach out to the knowledgeable ones on this forum who can help clear my mind.
On applying for admission last year i was given zoology to study, but i didn't like the course. Although i went ahead to take the opportunity, i tried for another admission this year into pharmacy. But my course was changed again on getting admitted and i was given food science instead.
I initially wanted to just go ahead with the one I'm doing already (zoology), but i met some people who informed me that food science is better. Now I'm confused on which one to pick.
Please I'd like any professionals in the above fields to enlighten me more on them including the prospects and which is better in our economic climate. I tried researching on both but i didn't come up with much. I hope i can find answers here.
I don't know the mods in charge but I'd like if this topic can be pushed forward for more coverage. Go for zoology. A former president of Nigeria was a zoologist. And our Biafra brothers say Nigeria is a zoo, so with a degree in zoology you would be qualified to run a zoo (Nigeria) perfectly. Thank me later |
