The unification decree didn't affect the 3 regions in nigeria, For the 6 months Aguiyi was in power, Each region were running itself n sending 30% to the centre.

Find that degree n read the whole of it, u will likely find it hard to translate, show it to a lawyer to help u out.
It was Gowon that destroyed regional government in nigeria and not aguiyi ironsi. Ironsi unified mostly the security aspects of the country like the army, police n many other aspects. He NEVER unified the economy of nigeria, he didn't end the regional government.

This projects are near completion and will create jobs, increase state revenue, attract investors and does not in anyway stop other developmental projects.

Why stop it and in the end cause the state money in terms of wastage. It is cheaper to complete the project than to abandon it.

It has not been stopped. Work intensity has only slowed down cos of fall in state govt revenue. The only project that has been stopped is the Rivers monorail.

And how exactly does paved highways and high rise residential buildings attract investors and create jobs?

Nairaland kids, always likening development to skyscrapers. You really think Lagos State money is in Eko-At People are suffering, jobs are being lost, roads are going bad in Oyigbo from the heavy rains, many roads in pH need urgent fixing now the rains are receding and you're talking of Rainbow city or Greater PH? It's a very good project when the funds are there- when oil prices are high or govt income is at its peak, but not at this time. They are surely more pressing issues now

Take a look at the picture closely, you will know that the picture is not real.
After surviving the horrors of the war there is no way American government will risk its troops by overloading that vessel more than its capacity because any single mistake of accident can turn it to another ill faithed Titanic.

Moreover,Great Britain's power and military influence was reduced by Nazi Germany during the war, therefore she had no military capacity to do such.

It's obviously a lie. In 1945, George the sixth was king.
Politics / Re: Lagosians Protest Against Governor Ambode's Anti-People Policies (Photos) by UfuomaUN(m): 10:39am On Nov 02, 2017
bayulll011:

People still don't get it.

the most incompetent and pathetic governor in nigeria is Ambode.
these one is not fit to rule, forget all the elephant project he's doing all in the name to embezzle money, during fashola era the world recognise Lagos as fast developing state and not just words but infrastructures and good policies, but what do we have now.

1.Lagos traffic

Heaven knows these is one of the hellish and most annoying thing Lagosian go through daily, all the road are either bad or being in the state of comatose for more than a year due to reconstructuring and slow executions of projects by hes croonics called contractors.

how do you explain the traffic on the island and mainland,u spend most of your time on traffic, you wonder what happen to the fear of lasma we have during fashola regime, all you see is danfo drivers picking and causing traffic in all bus stops.

2.Refuse

lagos has turn to what i called a bin,no street in lagos you will pass through where there will not be gabbages of rubbish in streets, highways etc,he he is clueless on managing waste that was going on fine during fashola era,Ambode gave expatriate to manage the waste in his state these can only be said of someone who is clueless.

3. Infrastructures.

forget all the Elephant project,Ambode is looting Lagos dry,no accountable on all the project in lagos,is either those projects are over budgeted or projected in a manner that one will wonder what's going on,remember Abule Egba bridge and Ojota pedestrian bridge this is just one of those project, and someone should tell him o stop buying generators to power those street,a sensible and visionary leaders envisage and solve problems that may arise in the future not buying generators to police and adding to global warming.

4.Education.

i have not seen anything in these area,Ambode still enjoy all the policies Fashola put into place, fashola build and renovated all the public schools and created some learning and research centres for children with special attributes, but ambode seems not to understand that Lagos populace needs more and viable world class education centres to meet up with the rest of the world.

Amdode has no idea to turn the education of the state around,go to some public school today it will suprise you that some don't have chairs they sit on floor to attends to lectures.

5.Electricity

someone should educate mr Ambode that the whole body of lagos is covered with water, and there is something they called Hydro thermal energy, these can generate more than 34,000 megawatts of electricity and he can sell to neighboring state and earn more money,he should stop buying generators to power all the street light in lagos, this is 2017 for heaven sake the arctic ice is melting, there is global warming he should meet professionals,a nuclear fusion reactors that can be easily shut down by water can serve the whole nation instead of waiting for the unfortunate people at the senate to pass a bill on devolutions of electricity bill that will never see the light of the day.

6.Employment

The lagos state govermnet website advertised some opening recently i will ask how many people was able to apply and get the job,he favored hes croonics, party cheiftance favored the meneber of hes church,no JOB is thrown at the masses,he recruited LASMA recently, where are they today, now neighborhood watch,he waste so much on unproductive projects, most of these projects also take eternity before execution.

Go to street of lagos all you see are hungry and angry youth roaming the street, cos no job which has already paved way to differnet crime in the state,he should come up with idea to employ the common man on the street not all these unproductive job that add nothing to the state.

7.Health.

lagos still don't have viable health scheme,go to our various hospital you will be amazed and cry for us as a nation's,no tools to work on,no word class health equipments you buy bed space, you pay for everything, annoying thing is they fly abroad if they have malaria, lagosian should be wise and these issues of God father has to stop, vote for a sensible and visionary leaders that will add value to your life.

You were a bit harsh Sha, but you listed strong points.

What ever William Obiano did on that road ,both flyover and expansion will be refunded or has been refunded by the federal government.

If anyone is to use those roads for campaign, He is Muhammadu Buhari.
William Obiano should show us the roads that he constructed and their locations.
Not computer generated images of phantom airport cities and Federal Government projects in Anambra state.
Or is he ashamed to show us that the fully completed road projects are in Aguleri , his home town?

Romance / Re: My Experience With A Babalawo by UfuomaUN(m): 8:25am On Oct 30, 2017
Gofwane:
We got back home and met Henry, he was dressing up to go and play ball.

Friend: Henry, where is my phone?

Henry: (looking confused) I don't know. Shebi we looked for it together.

Me: are you sure you are not the one that that carried it? Can you swear to that?

Henry: I swear on my parents grave, I don't know anything about your phone.

Friend: ok then let's go somewhere. You are coming with us.

Henry: I'm not going anywhere with you guys. I am even late for training, let me be going

That statement really got my friend angry and he started to pull Henry by his trousers. But I stopped him from doing that and reminded him of what we were instructed to do. And so we turned to leave.
As we were about to enter a bus, we saw Henry coming towards us.

Henry: you people should know that I've told my aunt that I'm going out with you so don't think that nobody will know that we were together if anything bad happens to me..

Me: don't worry, nothing is going to happen. We only want you to come and clear your name.

So we left together. Inside the bus, i couldn't help but think of the possibility of Henry being innocent since he swore on his late parents and has also agreed to come with us. Maybe na holy spirit of God wan to cause confusion so that we will know that baba's powers are not strong. These were the thoughts running through my mind till we got there.

Finally, we arrived there and met baba sitting outside and playing music from his Walkman (the disc type not tape) he removed his ear piece as well approached.

Baba: you people are back. Sit on that bench but Henry, sit on the floor.

Henry hesitated, maybe because he saw the baba is a small boy and that got baba really angry to the extent that his Walkman fell down. Quickly I stood up and boot Henry to the floor. Till today, i don't know why i did that

Baba: Henry, i want you to tell your friends friends you are sorry and they should forgive you.

Henry: (hesitates again but i think he suddenly remembered what just happened when he was asked to sit on the floor) guys i am sorry please forgive me.

Baba: ok that is good. Now got home and give your friends their phone

Henry: i have told them i am not the one that stole it. I swea.....

Baba: (interrupts him) Henry, do you know where you are?

Henry: no sir

Baba: this is not a place you can come and lie. So give them their phone so that this issue can just end like this. Nobody is going to report you to police. Ok?

For where, Henry still denied. Meanwhile, me i was really enjoying the drama.

Baba: you are still insisting? Ok, all of you stand up let's go to the backyard

To be contd.....

Better complete this gist today or I'll report you to the mods for slanderous suspense grin

Is Lagos an extension of Anambra??

As young as you are, you're already filled with hate, bigotry and tribalism. What has celebrating a cultural day got to do with taking over your lands? They are over a million Anambra people in Lagos so what's wrong if they decide to hold a get together for reunion sake? Why are you so insecure and stupid? Don't go and make something good out of your life. Continue dragging who owns Lagos and who doesn't on nairaland as if it adds a farthing to your existence.

The world is a big wide place and honestly this days no open minded person wants to be rooted like a tree to one particular place again. They are Yorubas scattered all over Nigeria who have never even set their foot in the south west just like they are Igbos and other Nigerians who have never seen their homes towns before. To this set of people tribalism is dead to them, but to people like you who are averse to travelling and mingling with other Nigerians, tribalism would continue to stink from you as if your life depended on it while the world leaves you behind. If you like don't take away that useless veil of religion blinding you and receive sense. Kid!

The guy on the first page abusing another poster for criticising what seems to be another inflated contract is one of the many reasons Nigeria is like this. And how has Ogun State proved that it has higher IGR? Come to Ogun State and see trailer load of abandoned projects. The street roads have not experienced a touch since exit of former govt. Ask Ogun indigenes of how many projects has been commissioned in their area? Since the commencement of second term of this govnor, it is as if there's no government. Local governments are dead as butchered cow, they can't even repair a single road. Don't judge Ogun State by what you see in Abeokuta because that s the only place where allocation is being spent on useless projects . He keeps working on federal roads (and latet abandonned)of which the money spent will be refunded while the street roads are in shambles.

Exactly, I wonder why the gov will spend a lot of money on building fancy bridges in Abeokuta when roads in more congested parts of the state like Akute, Agbado are in deplorable conditions Most of the bridges judging what I see anytime I drive past are "show off" projects. I wonder if the votes from Abeokuta will be sufficient to win him the next elections

Does Oyo tax better than all SE states?
Why didn't you bring this up about 5 years ago when anambla's IGR was greater than Oyo's own?
The fact I didn't bring this up 5 years ago doesn't make my argument any less valid. In most states in Nigeria, the taxing system is poor. Infact only civil servants and formal salary earners are properly taxed. A state like Anambra for instance where most of the people make their money from the informal sector would have a low IGR and appear to be retrogressive on paper cos most of the people their simply don't pay tax! They hide everything from the govt. So using IGR to judge wealth is bullshit! Why don't we compare Nigeria to other African countries in terms of IGR?

For me, it's more appropriate to use GDP.
And in a country like Nigeria were records are hardly even taken seriously, even GDP calculations could be misleading

IGR this IGR that! IGR depends a lot on the efficiency of the state govts taxing system. Many states in Nigeria don't take taxing as seriously as Lagos for instance. The wealth of a state should is better judged by GDP or per capital wealth

I had this mentality couple of years ago when I was in my final year, still relishing the thought of brandishing my high GPA in the eyes of anyone that bothered to give me audience. Today I'm in the Engineering industry, learning from people who had less formal education than I did but ironically are more sound technically and way successful than I could ever imagine. And guess what? Most of them from what I've learnt personally have affected society more than our so called first class students- the pride of tertiary education.

and I could go on and on...but in simple University education is shit.... especially in Nigeria
