Computers / How To Choose The Best Tablet For You by Ugoeze2016: 4:08pm On Oct 23, 2017 |
This is the second part of our tablet series. In the first part, we showed you the five most important reasons why you need a tablet in 2017. We hope it was helpful. Today, we will be showing you the distinctive features of the three major tablet operating system (OS) in the market so as to ease your decision making. The decision is still left to you. We just want to give you a profound guide. When you look up on Nigeria online shopping stores, you can get carried away by the array of fantastic tablets they offer. Big screens, great battery, good sounds and top camera quality are some of the things we want in a tablet. Interestingly, the operating system (OS) has more to do with a tablet than these hardware features. In one of our posts,we told you that software is more important than hardware. A tablet's OS is what defines the user interface which in turn determines the user experience and satisfaction. There are three major tablet OS platforms – iOS, Android, and Windows. Here’s what you need to know: iOS Manufactured by Apple, iOS runs the iPad series from the first to the next. This platform is not open to other device manufacturers other than Apple. The OS is very easy to learn and use even by those who have never used an Apple product. There is a massive collection (over a million) of apps and games in the virtual store which implies that you have more than enough contents to keep you busy. The iOS is however limited in use. It is not built for ultimate productivity. With the release of Microsoft Office for iPad, iOS has looked more productivity-focused in recent times. This move has made the OS adopted by those who could do with little word processing and PowerPoint capability. Android If you use an Android smartphone, you will find it easy using an Android tablet – there isn’t much difference in them. One of the good points of Android OS is that some Android tablets have cellular functions, meaning they can be used to make calls. This is impossible on either an iPad or a Windows-powered tablet. Companies like Samsung, Itel, and Tecno manufacture Android tablets. Many of these tablets come at cheap prices. The Android OS has some similarities with iOS in the sense that they both have millions of apps in their respective stores. However, few of the million apps on the store are actually optimized for large screen and high resolution. Unluckily, they are also more optimized for mobile phones, unlike the Microsoft Windows 10 OS which is built for desktop performance and tablet mobility. With the inclusion of Microsoft for Android tablets, users can easily do some class or office assignments with spread sheets and word processors Microsoft Windows The Windows 10 represents the processing power a tablet is expected to possess in today’s data driven world. It is the latest version of Windows which is fundamentally known to be PC software. Microsoft is determined to make it more than PC software. Now, the Windows 10 has been built for touch-screen optimization. With Windows 10, you can run all the legacy software from previous Windows versions like XP to Windows 8. Many Windows tablets come as 2-in-1s which implies that they are great when used either as a full-fledged PC or a tablet. There are many manufacturers designing tablets to be run on the Windows platform. In spite of all the good points, the Windows store is still notably known to lack plenty of apps like those available on the Android and iOS stores. However, you will find your basic apps on the platform. In case you don’t, remember this is Microsoft Windows. You can integrate it with any software just to ensure you run your preferred apps. We hope after reading this you will have insights into what kind of OS fits you. If you have further questions, kindly feel free to ask. Stay tuned us as we continue this journey. http://zokija.com/blog/choosing-a-tablet-operating-system-what-you-need-to-know/

Computers / Five Major Reasons Why You Need A Tablet This Year by Ugoeze2016: 9:10am On Oct 21, 2017 |
At Zokija, we want to take you through a tablet series that will be focused on ensuring you know the benefits of owning a tablet, knowing which tablet platform is great for you, and which ones you should buy. Ensure that you follow this series as it will be helpful. Here’s the first of our tablet series. Tablets were earlier predicted to never have a notable market share. But when one looks at 2017 consumer trends, as well as the huge presence of hybrid tablets on e-commerce platforms, you would see that the tablet niche has been revived, and having one is more important than before. With this in mind, we strongly believe you should purchase one for yourself if you don’t have any yet. Still having doubts? Below are the reasons why you should own a tablet. 1. Tablets Are Good For Productivity Many of us now run all our important apps on smartphones. Believe it or not, tablets can do much more than the capability of a smartphone or a laptop. You can do any form of word processing, graphics design, HD video watching, et cetera on a tablet. In addition to these tasks, you can chat with friends and follow social media updates all at the same time on a tablet. This feature is impossible with a laptop or a smartphone. None of them can do this all at a time while still offering you a beautiful user experience. 2. Tablets Are Great For Reading People, especially millennia are reading more electronic contents than paperback books. Tablets are built for this function and you will enjoy the experience if you are an avid reader or a student. Even the working class can enjoy this benefit as it will help them go through PowerPoint and PDF files with ease. Also, with e-readers, you can save the page where you paused and start your reading session from there the next time. 3. Tablets Help You Don A Presentation Have you ever made a presentation that you couldn’t cram every word you needed, as such you had to use a paper or a phone to note the important things? We know that’s awkward. You can turn your next presentation into a masterpiece with a slate in your hands. The impression you give the panel alone can help you look like someone who knows his stuff. Aside that, you can easily put the most important words right in front of you, create your presentation menu, and follow it all with the help of a tablet. 4. Tablets Are Cheap Luxuries The first thoughts that run through people’s minds when they sight a person holding a tablet is that the person has more than enough. Tablets are actually seen to be luxurious gadgets. However, they are cheap products. Although, there are expensive tablets; yet, most tablets in the market are cheap and offer great features. You can purchase one without breaking the bank. 5. Tablets Are Just Cool Holding a screen with your hands, playing attractive games, watching YouTube videos, attaching a keyboard to type, creating your PowerPoint presentation, designing a logo, all with a screen, are just beautiful things anyone can behold. Sometimes, holding a tablet, especially an awesomely designed one, can make you look like you’re born for the future. You will see the amazement on people’s faces. That’s the benefit that comes with this amazing device. We hope you have been convinced on why you need a tablet. This is the first of our tablet series. Be sure to visit regularly for subsequent updates on tablets. If you have further questions or additions, kindly comment here http://zokija.com/blog/top-five-reasons-why-you-need-a-tablet-in-2017/ |

Computers / What To Check When Buying A Used Laptop: Be Street Smart, Don't Get Ripped Of by Ugoeze2016: 2:00pm On Oct 20, 2017 |
Advancements and innovations in technology have led to a boom in the computer industry in recent time. In fact, it’s not uncommon to see many professionals who can’t operate without the computer. Although due to portability and upgradability most users nowadays prefer Laptops to desktop computers, you will still find either one or both in many homes and offices. What if you need a computer system desperately but due to a limited budget, you can’t afford a brand new one? Going for a decent, fairly used laptop/computer may not be a bad choice. However, buying a laptop is quite different from buying other things in the market because it could be tricky if you do not know where or what to look at while shopping. The fact that a used laptop does not usually come with a warranty technically makes the process of choosing one, very important. Although price, budget and the buyer’s specific needs all play crucial roles in one’s choice of a computer, there are a few vital things to look out for or note when shopping for a used computer system. A few of them are discussed below:- The Body/ Frame The quality of the case and chassis should be non-negotiable. Carefully check the case for any sign of impact and cracks which can lead to disintegration. Are there irregularities like incomplete screws or loose hinges? Check and re-check! The Screen Thoroughly inspect the screen. Make sure you do not end up with one whose brightness is at best, uneven. Try to avoid any flickering screen which may be due to a bad back light or damaged connections. Look out for white spots on the screen caused by stuck pixels which may be difficult to fix. It will also be wise to open a video to see the width of the viewing angles. Keyboard and Trackpad As the most used components of a computer, the keyboard and trackpad need to be in top condition. Look out for broken keys and be sure you are fully comfortable typing on the keyboard. A keypad which causes you to make numerous mistakes is a no-no! Also, ensure that the trackpad supports gestures you may need like three-finger swipe and two-finger scroll. If mouse keys are available, check to see if you can easily press them. Ports and CD Drive There are a few parts of the laptop that is pretty difficult to replace like the Ethernet ports, USB ports, CD/DVD drive etc; hence, it is necessary to try them out before paying. Battery Although it may be difficult to thoroughly check the strength of the battery, you should get an insight about how long it can last. Scroll to the power management settings of the operating system to find out the amount of charge the battery can withstand and the general status of the battery. Ensure you are getting a battery which charges perfectly and does not drain quickly to avoid spending extra money to replace the battery. RAM Because it plays a crucial role on how fast your computer/laptop is, the size of the RAM is something you cannot ignore. Ideally, a minimum of 4GB RAM should give you a wonderful performance. You should also check the available memory slots to see if you can upgrade the RAM to your specific needs in future. Software Have a look at the software licenses of the computer system and make sure you have access to the product keys. Try to confirm the genuineness of the loaded operating system and request for the master software CDs and recovery CDs if possible Be Street smart and Lookout for a Great Deal! Always try to compare the asking price of a used laptop with that of the brand new one and other computers to be sure it is not a rip-off. You must make sure you won’t be better off getting a brand new one. The major step, however, is to know your needs and minimum requirements for a computer. Identifying what you need and using the above tips as a guide should put you on the right path when shopping for a used computer/laptop. http://zokija.com/blog/what-to-check-for-when-buying-a-used-laptop/ 6 Likes 1 Share
