Pls house - is it advisable to tell a recruiter you are travelling for holiday or a full-time student? Cos I don't understand again oo angry

Someone cannot speak the truth again for this country abi wetin?

Lexusgs430 Justwise

what is the goal in your application? To get fulltime employment right? Then it's better to align your answers to what the decision maker would want. Put yourself in their shoes, would you employ someone now for a Jan 2023 start date that intends to go for extended Christmas holiday or is in full time studies and it will clash with work duties. Even if you have plans or need some days off, when you resume you go navigate am. I know a friend, that took job in a city 100miles away and employer thought it was same city because it was hybrid role so the guy was commuting and Airbnb'ing. If the person told them he was in a different city na rejection letter for end am. Wisdom is profitable to direct

Sent a customer compliant email to:

Just an appeal.
When people ask for advice for cheaper or free alternatives, please respond if you know the solution or keep it moving pls. The reason I say this is that a lot of people are going through a lot. Converting naira to pounds at 1000/£ and you're asking the person to pay more for car insurance or buy stuff online when they've asked for a free etc. It's not very nice now IMHO. I get that you may be trying to warn them of an unintended consequence in the future, but sometimes "there's no money on ground" lol.

NOT everyone is settled in UK with 10yrs experience collecting big bucks in ££££ every month. Some people are still owing gbese in Naija etc. This might be the struggling phase for some...as really shi shi no dey. It just rubs me the wrong way as you don't know current condition. Just had to let it out of my chest. My 2 pence...I come in peace

My thoughts exactly, even if he delivers, there will be problem, if he doesn't deliver, double problem. For BJ and penny to withdraw, something dey. We dey here waiting for season 2.

The others didn't withdraw of their own accord. They simply didn't reach the 100 MP threshold. Forget all the speculation and hearsay. A whole Boris will rush enter plane, only to arrive UK and withdraw the night of the contest. I'm not buying it. Penny was even far off the mark.

Rather than a car finance deal, get a bank loan of same figure........

You APR on the loan, would be much lower ..........

Thanks

My understanding was that you wanted to swipe £5K, from your CC, to buy a vehicle...........

But it seems you want to buy a car on a 12 month contract, using your cc ?......?

I doubt any car dealer would let you pay £500 per month, without signing a car finance deal.............

Yes I'm referring to car finance deal. Longer term repayment plan. What are your thoughts on this option? Autotrader has a lot of "Finance" available options. I want to avoid the heavy upfront cost and spread over 12months max.

This depends the interest rate on the credit card .......

If you have those credit builder cards, with humongous Apr rates....... Don't attempt it, unless you intend to clear up your cc bill, within a month or 2 ........ cheesy

Please I don't understand why 1 or 2 months. I intend to clear my CC bill in full every month. So for example, if it's 12 months contract...at £500/ month...I'll pay it monthly. Rather than buying the whole car £4k+ upfront. Will APR still apply?

Hi House,
Quick question on auto loan/using credit card to fund a new car. Is it advisable? Nothing fancy...just a small car for mobility (public transport is a huge waste of time. Journey of 20mins will take 1hr because of round and round shuttle.) So the car budget is less than £5k automatic, small engine. Idea is to get something comfortable to also use to build credit score rather than buying outright. Has anyone done it? Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Two weeks ago in a TV interview they asked Liz whose idea the mini-budget was and she said it was within the chancellor's purview and so he was responsible. I knew from then that if someone was going to get axed, he'd definitely be the first.
It's unfortunate, because his sack will set the entire race back. I doubt we'll see another black Chancellor in our lifetime.

Agreed! The guy didn't put in a good showing at all (nor did Liz truss but na she be Oga Boss). Beyond the policies, his body language was so bad...awkward, twitchy, shaking, looking dodgy (something Rishi Sunak go finesse with confidence). Infact the entire govt need to go....everything is so cringe.

I was almost depressed. Filling different application forms like you are looking for a job and being told off at the end of the day. Sometimes you go for a viewing and meet like 10 other people viewing same apartment. Before you get home and submit your application, boom the house is taken.
Mind you, me and my husband work full time, non smokers, no pets, no children cheesy. I thought these would help but for where? angry

So sorry, I know the feeling! Accomodation is now kryptonite. I feel there should be a law to limit number of applicants per advert. Should be illegal for landlords to be using would be tenants to catch cruise. It should be basic info...where you work, income level, background check etc. For like maximum 5 ppl. Then you proceed with your candidate. If person falls through, go with backup option. Not dozens of application per house. Just compare with the ease of paying for house you like on the spot in Naija. First come first serve!

Don't say that ooo.... until you walked in that shoe. I am currently looking for housing for some people coming in and its truly not easy.

Even with properly planning, me I am on ground yet one month I never see. Before I can view it taken. The ones I even hurried and put deposit I was later turned down that since they are not here yet, then they won't pass referencing. We even offered to pay 6 months and the agency said no. .... you probably don't know the extent of housing shortage and the influx from student and workers visa

Truly until you walk in a shoe, it very easy to call names like money miss road

Spot on!
I just laughed when I saw his comment and "aspire to perspire" reply. This country is going through a serious housing crisis ATM! I went through everything you did...but for 2 months. Used all the sites possible plus word-of-mouth. It was so depressing. Ontop the expensive rent that you're willing to pay...no one was willing to accept. Some landlords/agents even rejected upfront rent payment and opt for others applying.

Imagine the pain of going for viewing, doing paperwork etc. And then being told someone else has been given the place. Same outcome....over and over and over again. Accomodation is more rare than gold in the UK today! Thank God the word-of-mouth search finally paid off and it came at the nick of time. Bypassed all the rubbish process and got my keys same day. Such a huge relief!

You can sue anyone you want to as long as you have a cause of action. Why do you think professionals here have to have insurance and defensive medicine, for instance, is a thing?

Just be careful and "look face well" if you want to tangle with the Home Office or HMRC and check your matter well because they can out-lawyer you and kill you with lawfare. Remember they have visa applicants' and taxpayers' money respectively to play with while you are spending your salary. The Home Office especially is particularly fond of that, taking cases they have clearly lost to appeal instances and so on, just to frustrate the litigant.

I understand what you mean, but the odds are not great. I just googled sue Home Office and saw this piece:

https://www.garthcoates.com/news/can-the-home-office-be-sued-for-extreme-delay/

Basically the dude's application was delayed for over 2 yrs for a 30 months Visa. He only had it for 5 months when he finally received it, so he sued them because he must have lost job opportunities...and the govt is basically saying...nope, you don't have enough evidence. It doesn't make sense at all.
Las las, even if successful (just as you alluded to) it's not as easy to get compensation like some big brands e.g Virgin Atlantic and co.
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by ugoonuoha: 11:27am On Sep 15, 2022
Just to help anyone out there not doing it yet, please always file for compensation/refunds whenever you've received sh#tty service in this country. I've done it a couple of times and it's been successful.

For example, Virgin Atlantic delayed my flight from Nigeria to London...over 5hrs delay, I got over £500. Megabus delayed my trip for 4 hours (bus broke down and no replacement, we were stranded in middle of the night), I got the ticket value refunded.

Train was delayed (regular occurrence nowadays)...I got a partial refund.
Basically, I'd rather have an efficient service, however when they choose to mess up, it is great to have this as a fall back option. It is very rewarding...just thought to share.

PS - Just wish one can sue some Govt Agencies sha. Home office, NHS and co. will go bankrupt lol
