Fast forward to 2018, CBN is working on making it compulsory for Bankers of certain level to bag that certification. It is a major criteria to very key positions in the banking sector. ICAN for now is more prestigious but trust me if u're in the banking sector, kindly do CIBN cos u'll need it and appreciate u did in the long run. Very soon it might become a recruitment criteria for banks (for strategic positions) just like ICAN is for audit firms.

Forget those that did it donkey years ago and haven't seen the relevance, I know management staff in the bank that are burning the midnight oil to bag that certification.
