Demulsify: I dont know you or your story but i am a christian and i will only say what i have experienced for everyone to learn. Pls dont make my mistake. The worldnof finance and accounting is totally global and saf to say ICAN Is not globally recognised and it is not worth more than 2 points in the Western Education (WES) grading. Usually i dont do this anymore but thank God for God. So my friend i dont know, carefully think things through. Outside Nigeria, ICAN has no value. Do not make my mistake. Choose wisely. God bless Are u serious? Ican is not recognized outside Nigeria? |

PaperLace: The problem in Nigeria workforce is superiority complex. They forget there is something called division of labour and specialisation. There are accountants, bankers, economists, marketers, managers... they all come together to makeup the business unit and achieve a common goal.
There are doctors, nurses, pharmacist, paediatricians, gynaecologists... forming the medical unit.
None is greater than the other, but no_ in Nigeria, a doctor feels he is higher than a nurse, an accountant feels he is higher than a banker, an architect feels higher than an estate manager...the list goes on. 'and you wonder why we achieve lil or nothing in our various sectors. You sabi |
Career › Re: I Qualified As A Chartered Accountant With ICAN & ACCA In The Same Diet by Ugosample(m): 12:21pm On Mar 05, 2017 |
hayoakins: After wasting over 4 years in Lagos State University (part time) due to the epileptic academic calendar, I decided to combine with my full time banking job, a full time academic program and my professional qualification exams (ICAN and ACCA). To friends and family, it was an academic and career suicide mission but little did they know that my zeal to make up for the wasted years outweighs any logical, technical, financial or mental constraints. Having to stay up almost all night for over 4 years finally paid off.
I remember how my GP dropped from 3.78/4.00 to 2.87 when some lecturers felt insulted that a student who doesn't attend lectures was among the top 5%. They never knew I had Indian professors mentoring me on YouTube with Google at my call. I remember having to double my study time to still graduate against all odds with 3.35/4.00.
I remember days I stayed up all night at NYSC orientation camp studying for ICAN paper I had to sit for a day after being discharged from camp and ACCA papers while my platoon members and flat mates were flexing at mammi market.
I remember when I had to run away from been a guard commandant after been shortlisted when parade rehearsal was competing with my study time, having to also hide unto the bunk to miss the ever boring NYSC SAED lectures just to cover my exam syllabus. The sacrifices all paid off this day
ACCA and ICAN certified in the same year, in the same diet with two (2) ACCA awards in the bag.
Thanks to my boss who gave me time off when I needed it most.
To my mentees, the thought of never wanting you to give up against all odds got me going when giving up seems like the easiest option.
The thought of wanting the street kids to look at me and say because of you, we didn't give up got me this far.
The prayer of a praying mother also avails much more
Success is up for grab to whoever is willing to pay the price. ©Ayobami
The future is up for grab, I grabbed mine yesterday ©Ayobami
Whoever you are, where ever you are from, dreams come true to those who are willing to pay the price. No price, no prize.
The journey was stormy but I never took my eyes off the prize (this day) . #NoPrice #NoPrize
This is dedicated to all the streetkids who never sold their dreams on the alter of a few minutes pleasure and who had to run the race all alone. Never ever give up.

DanXplore: It irks me when i see people make comments like this ignorantly in the name of motivation. you must think ICAN is a joke. I hope you are not the type that will advice someone with D7 in maths, E8 in Physics, D7 in biology, to keep pursuing their medical ambition. I know of people who spent years doing ICAN meant for just 2 to 3yrs and ended up frustrated.
@ OP, i dont believe in buttering people up so i will tell you the truth. If you go for ICAN with the same rate that earned you a third class, you will likely end up frustrated. But if you insist you want to be chartered, then here is a recommendation.
1. Go back to basic accounting, if possible O level accounting, and make sure you understand the rulesof debit and credit very very very well. Master it properly ...not just memorise its applications 2. Go on you tube and create a program for your self. Download sufficient videos on each of the accounting areas....from elementary book keeping to cashbook, pettycash analysis, suspense a/c, control a/c, partnership a/c, company a/c, joint ventures, public sector ....u know them. i repeat, understand and master them...dont just memorise the captions and formats. 3. download sample ICAN questions so you'd know what you are up against.
when you have done this and are satisfied, u can now do ICAN. If you cannot still attempt sample ICAN questions for the Basic level, then i'll advice you humble yourself and go for what could be up your speed.
I wish you well Why will you advise him to go for ANAN instead of ICAN in the first place? Do You know the circumstances to which he finished with the 3rd class You don't know him, and you have already tagged him unserious because of the third class. ? What is the correlation between a third class and passing ICAN Exams biko? All he needs to do is register and be determined to pass, that is all. |

Ngozi123: You say "yet" as if it's inevitable that Nigeria will realise its potential. If it hasn't done so in 60 years of its independence then what makes you think that it will in, say, the next 60 years? Nigeria may have better human resources than those countries but what's the point if said human resources prefer to run their trade abroad, in countries that have a better infrastructure than Nigeria, whilst the country continues to stagnate?
As things stand now, and for the foreseeable future, those countries are in a much better position than Nigeria so I don't see how some Nigerians can look down on them. Not all the human resources want to run away tho, know that. South Africa has been regressing, especially since that nicompoop Zuma took over, so I don't see the "progress" they are making Kenya has tried, and Ivory Coast has done very well too, but Nigeria is still moving. |

Ngozi123: Why on earth would a South African or a Kenyan be jealous of Nigerians and Nigeria? You're the biggest country (figuratively speaking, not literally) in Africa yet you're riddled with terrorism, poverty and illiteracy. Both Kenya and South Africa have been making huge strides in the last 20 years yet you feel that they'd be jealous of a country that has barely improved since it 'received' its independence in 1960? I don't know where Nigerians get this arrogance from- you're not helping yourselves by having this attitude. Ngozi.... It may be true that Nigeria has not actualized it's potential yet, but I daresay that indeed Nigeria has made progress since the return of democracy, even tho we need to do more, and indeed, Nigerians are more enterprising than the Kenyans or South Africans, and we have the diverse man power that they don't They may have better infrastructures, but they don't beat us in what I said up there |

Note that these OAPs also work in other departments after their programs like Technical, Production, Programmes, Research and even Sales. Don't think they just close for the day after their show.
Senior Executives who are OAPs earn way more that what i quoted above.
OAPs who do shows have the privilege of getting one or two "popular" artiste to perform, while the radio station they work for gives them free or next to nothing platform to advertise their shows.
