Ha this people una want make i talk again...ok..Sir Sukkot i tuale o o ..i dey salute...you really spoke well and with your vast knowledge about America and England it surprises me you talk about racism in those countries and forget about the same in Nigeria in another guise called tribalism which is more dangerous than the racism cos racism is people of different nationality with different skin colour but ours is same people..same colour..same garri and yam.Can a yoruba man be voted as a councillor in Imo state?..can an Hausa man vie for a governorship post in Lagos for being a Nigerian and not from the north?..can an igbo man enter an office where a yoruba man is the HR person and another yoruba man enter seeking for a job and the job is given to the igbo man not minding who qualified most?...do yoruba landords in lagos rent thier houses to the man from the east ?..why is our central goverment in abuja having issues of..the next president must be from the North, east south or west...do you know how many yorubas were killed in Kano after the sagamu hause yoruba riot? have you seen videos of how hausa butchered people from the other divide in Nigeria?have you witnessed any tribal/religious crisis in the north where the white man is left alone while a fellow nigeria in killed along with his family...have you not heard of quota system in nigeria where whether you sabi am or not na una turn...have you not heard of different cut off point in JAMB for different divide of the country?Victor Moses is hail and hearty today playing football in a country UK who took him in when his parents were killed in a Nigerian religious crisis..they didnt see him as black meanwhile his own people same black made him an orphan...today Victor Moses and his little kid brother will never want to settle back in Nigeria..i grew up in the North and witnessed many of the tribal/religious hatred killings where corpse littered the streets and pigs feasted in human decompose...black against black..brothers who sing national anthem together..

Again...if you say that the Nigeria you love and dream of is the one where until you are a billionaire you cant enjoy steady light except you live in lekki then i think we have a problem really.Or until you have money you cant have tennis court around you....hmmm...this are just common and basic things governments provide out of your tax payers money in other western countries which Nigeria also collects same tax without providing you same.Bro if you are happy living in lekki and feel good seeing others live in shanties in ajegunle and the poor suburbs then it means you enjoy Nigeria because you use your wealth to oppress the poor meaning in essence the good leaders to lead Nigeria out of the dungeon like Bollinger rightly observed is a long long thing if we all think living exclusively for us alone in Lekki means Nigeria is ok.
Well said.
Yoruba peeps can be MP in U.K. but will kick against same in Lagos huh

That is the kind of people we are in Nigeria/Africa and that is why we are the most underdeveloped.

Your last paragraph is spot on too.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do!!!

It doesn't necessarily mean you agree but playing safe and respect for your body's culture is necessary.
At least ,in the south when a King dies, aren't people advised not to go out at a certain time?

Not saying one should drop his religion all in the quest to fit in but for security reasons and to gain strategic advantage, "morph" into your environment.
You can carry a branded alcoholic beverage in Nigeria on the street and drink it but it is illegal in some foreign country. Would you flout that?

grin grin grin grin
Don't mind them.
In Lagos, as you said, if an Oba dies , people are advised to stay indoors to avoid stories that touch, yet they will not talk about that one.

Everybody cannot reason like you, and not every society is like the one you came from, that is why it is always better to conform reasonably when you are in any society.

I also blame many parents for instilling this bias in their children (especially ndigbo)
Thank God my parents were not like that, and I have gone to see for myself.

Lol. His father was not an AH. Yes, he was pushy. He was a perfectionist. If not for that early push he would never have become the perfectionist he was. Look back at his song arrangements, lyrics, instrumental, flow/delivery, choreography. All at the zenith of possibility in the arts. It was a blend of immense talent & hardwork/perfection.

I say this because far more African kids suffer far more abuse for just meal & roof over their heads. Most African kids of MJ's generation "seriously chop cane" for flimsy reasons like taking meat from the pot, going off to play football and minor things. Without any level of extra support from parents or guardians, aside the usual ones.
The issue was MJ lived in an environment where parents are vilified for smacking & correcting kids. And Western raised kids use that standard to judge parents.
If same rules were strictly applied in Nigeria, 80% of parents would lose their kids to social services & 50% of them may end up in jail.

We see 9ja parents losing kids to the govt/social services for smacking or leaving them to go shopping & neighbors call the police.
I was beaten seriously by my parents, relatives and even neighbours (you know how it was then, when a neighbour sees you committing, and he whoops you in public grin before your momma finish work at home, lol)

However; I don't think I'm gonna whoop my kids the way I was beaten tho...Smacking is not the only way to correct kids.

And besides, with all the smacking, why is the Nigerian society in a mess?

Do not compromise discipline, but that violent smacking, and pushing and etc?
Won't do it.

And BTW, I still think MJ father was an asshole.

A lot of good or not. Jackson himself admitted he had no childhood, in fact a very sad one. So he had a failed childhood. It affected every aspect of his life. It is even on tape. Jackson is the very ultimate example of bad childhood.

I doubt if you followed his career better than me when he was making hits then. I even had the chance to be in his live concert 24 years ago. grin
MJ father was an asshole, that is the principal reason why he had a bad childhood.
There is nothing wrong with being a child star, all the child needs is some supervision from their parents, that's all.

Family › Re: Nigerian Men In USA, Killing Their Imported Wives From Nigeria. by Ugosample(m): 10:11pm On Oct 13, 2016
Excuzeme:
You are so wrong and so one-sided!

Let me use a few examples to illustrate how wrong your assertions are:

1.) take the case of divorced Nigerian couple and Divorced Western Couple:
In most cases, the divorced Western Couple (DWC) still maintain a level of decency between them. The ex-wife does not pick enmity with the new wife while the ex-husband can even play golf with the new husband. The dont see their "going separate ways" as a do or die affair! These set of people seem better to manage the "emotions' of a break-up

Now, take the Divorced Nigerian Couple (DNC) scenario: The divorce is so bitter that they remain an enemy for life. this enmity is even transferred to friends and other family members! The ex-wife must not see the new wife anywhere without making trouble, all her life, she blames the new wife for her divorce and seeks to do her harm, till she dies! She poisons the mind of the children against their father and more-so against the new wife of her ex-husband. these set of people seem not to be able to manage a break-up. It is CULTURAL.

2.) Again, let us see the case of Western Couples (WC) and our Nigerian Couple (NC) in a marriage setting:

In the Western Couple, the wife may be the primary bread winner in the family, it makes no difference since in most cases, all their expenses, from mortgage to groceries, is spent from a joint account (those who have lived outside Nigeria will attest to how the Government/Banks force you to have a joint account, without which Mortgage you can get). The WC dont fight over such things. In terms of Education, it is free so none of the couple can say "l educated you" with my money! If they are not married and live together, they both contribute to the cost of rent and Bills. The go to restaurants and both pay their way.

Now, come to the NC situation: The man is expected (culturally) to provide all financial requirement, even before he considers marriage! he is expected to pay bride price, which the WC dont pay (in some parts of Nigeria, the cost of that Bride price is enough to buy a house! grin ).
In a marriage setting, the "husband" is expected to provide all the money (even if the wife is working, its a matter of culture and honor!). Education is not free hence some parents see the husband as an "extension" of their parental responsibilities - he must "train" his wife and this cost much.
Another dimension is that the Nigerian wife is not able to manage "success", unlike her Western counterpart.
While a Western woman will still maintain the "cultural, marital norms" in her marriage, even if she becomes wealthier than her husband, the Nigerian wife see her "new financial status" as a sort of "Liberation and Power to revolt".

She sees it as an opportunity to "turn the table" and "re-order the cultural and marital norms" of the marriage.
She does this in the most arrogant and audacious manner, daring the man to do his worst!

What she forgets is that marriage is like a CONTRACT, it is consummated with an "UNDERSTANDING OF THE APPLICABLE RULES AND NORMS", based on the cultural environment (Nigerian) the couples embrace.
Problem starts when the woman runs into MONEY/POWER and then seeks to change the "status-quo" or "Terms and Conditions" of the marriage contract!
The Husband naturally, will say NO!
More-so, the change which the wife seeks, is ALIEN to their culture.
But notwithstanding, because of where she is (America), she is able to FORCE her wish on the husband, and even goes further to PUNISH him by stripping him of all his assets and his dignity.

The end -result is why some Husbands take law into their hands.

So, the problem is not that of the Nigerian man but that of the Nigerian Culture, which most women (and their parents) seem to enjoy and buy into, only for the woman to want to "change the contract", once she is in the Western world.

BTW, Men need to understand that the "Standard Nigerian wife" is long-gone!
The world is a global village now and the women in Nigeria are actually worse (in this regard) than their counterpart born into the "Western Culture".
A Black Woman born and bred in America grows up with the American culture (including respect for anyone carrying a gun! ).
Such women cannot stand a Black man born and bred in Nigeria, due to the cultural differences.
Such women MUST marry from the pool of Black men (if they chose Black) in their environment

Same goes for the Nigerian man born and bred in Nigeria. He should marry form the pool of Nigerian women..... but he must KEEP HER in Nigeria! undecided undecided
The problem arises when he carries his Nigerian culture abroad, (He is still a Nigerian man, mentally and psychologically), then in other to continue to perpetuate his Nigerian mentality/Culture in his new domain, he erroneously think it will work-out if he IMPORTS and marries a Nigerian woman (who is a Nigerian, psychologically and mentally) into the new domain.
The "Imported wife" then realise that she can CHANGE her culture, change the norm of the marriage, by ADOPTING the CULTURE of her new domain, to the chagrin of the Husband who still holds dear to his Nigerian culture (since that is what he hopes to live by, upon importing a Nigerian wife).

Solution: if you want to live abroad, marry a woman born and bred there. It wont guarantee you "anything better" but it will ensure you know what you are getting into, from the onset, so that you are not duped in your marriage contract, as the imported wives like to do.
Your analysis is wonderful

falopey:
No. The moral of the story is don't bother to come to Nigeria to pick a wife. Pick a wife there in America.

Many Nigerian wives realize their "potential" once brought to the US. Some of them do worse thing to their husband even more than what an American woman would do. Just to prove a point to their husband that they are no more in Nigerian system where husband has upper hands. So they over do it and drive their husband crazy.

It's more hurtful to be hurt by someone deliberately hurting you to get at you than someone doing it not because she wants to get back at you for anything but just doing it because it's what entails in the system.

Hopefully the ATM will work over there, and ah can also chanqe the naira first to settle some minor bills.

So finally...... It's was sunday 09/10, havinq booked ma ticket à day before, ah had to leave home early (3rd coach tins) cry cry
Because of the rain in laqos, 1st left around 9am, 2nd by 10am, while 3rd (ma coach) left by 3pm shocked shocked......
It wasn't à small tin ooo, Infact ah even had to chanqe ma departure date for Monday, because it's was DAMN late, buh moi frère had to still ask me to chill, and since no one boardinq the 3rd coach (about 30) has left.

Ok ooo, so finally we left the park by 3pm, and qot to the niqeria into benin border by 6pm, spent like 20-35mins with the NDLEA, and less than 20mins at the border, (NB: we didnt cross on foot, we stayed back in the coach).

qot to the benin into toqo border by 9:45pm, and everywhere was dryyyyy shocked, and YES... we came down and crossed on foot, aqain since it was sunday and late, ah quess that was why it went effortless, unlike other days, and we spent less than 35mins there.

@ugosample, ah know u qonna ask for exchanqe raté, buh the truth is, those aboki were no where to be found embarassed, like seriously......, the only people at the border was the women sellinq foods and drink, etc.

Honestly ah was surprise to see the border as dry as the way it was....., buh ah never knew we were inn for another shocker......

We were still in toqo till around 10:30pm, and it was obvious that we won't be able to cross to the qhana side cry,
So we had to stop at a 'more' safe place, and spent the niqht there., well the niqht was crazy and also fun.

So we had to leave our location around 5:30am dis morninq, in other to be amonq the first set that will cross, and also beat the traffic rush, and about 1km away from the toqo into qhana border, u will think u are drivinq into à DANGOTE cément plant.... Wow, no be small tin ooo.

So before crossinq, the exchanqe quys were seeinq around, (NB: we still in the toqo side) and surprisly, the quys refuse to accept Naira cool shocked shocked, no be small tin ooo, as if they all planned it, no one was acceptinq to chanqe anythinq (CFA/Cedis) for naira, some even bouqht sims for 600h lolz.

Buh on qettinq to the qhana border, where u will have to come down with ur luqqaqe, we met another set of exchanqe quys, and they chanqe for 8.6

Now the main joker is the raté @ugosample,
N1000 = 8cedis 60 penswu.
N10000 = 86 qhc.
That's the real fallinq hand.... N1000 for just 8qhc huh This chanqe is really really chanqinq everythinq, àh remember ma previous trip around, November, it's was N1000 = 20qhc, God have mercy.

Well, after sendinq like an hour 25mins there, we continued our journey, and finally we qot to the park (last bus-stop) by 1pm. Finally, à journey dat wasn't suppose to take dis lonq, just nose dive...
Well thank God for safe landinq.

So demain (mardi) àh will be headinq to TUDU to check for the STC bus qoinq to ivory coast. And hopefully je vais voyaqe au mercredi.

This was ma qhana trip expérience, expect the ivory coast own, hopefully it will be less stressful as dis.
The naira has really really lost it value, cedis is now far far better to naira.

AWKAABA.......
Huh shocked shocked

8.6 to 1000?

This is terrible!!!!
At least the thing should have remained at 10, now it has gone under.
