dein77:The hymn!!! No other argument, not even a plea. A song that stirs the spirit |
dein77:And you refused to comment on my favorite hymns posted above |
And can it be that I should gain An interest in the Savior’s blood? Died He for me, who caused His pain— For me, who Him to death pursued? Amazing love! How can it be, That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me? Amazing love! How can it be, That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me? ’Tis mystery all: th’Immortal dies: Who can explore His strange design? In vain the firstborn seraph tries To sound the depths of love divine. ’Tis mercy all! Let earth adore, Let angel minds inquire no more. ’Tis mercy all! Let earth adore; Let angel minds inquire no more. Composed by Charles Wesley. I soar with the hymn |
Immortal, invisible, God only wise, In light inaccessible hid from our eyes, Most blessèd, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, Almighty, victorious, Thy great Name we praise. Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light, Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might; Thy justice, like mountains, high soaring above Thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love. Composed by Walter Smith. The hymn celebrates the supremacy of God. I love the hymn. |
Abishai 1 Samuel 26:8-10New International Version (NIV) Abishai said to David, “Today God has delivered your enemy into your hands. Now let me pin him to the ground with one thrust of the spear; I won’t strike him twice. 2 Samuel 16:9King James Version (KJV) Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head. 2 Samuel 19:21King James Version (KJV) But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the Lord's anointed? 2 Samuel 21:17 17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel. Abishai, a man of action, never feared for once ![]() |
krixik: What is wrong with Africans? Because the river dries up and flows once in a decade or two is no miracle. Geologists in the house can help us out because the reason for that might be geological and people are capitalising on other people's ignorance to make some cool cash. People should grow up because we are in 21st century. They should avoid that river cos i am seing outbreak of cholera and other related worm infestation.I am not support of the socalled healing water. But white men also fetch healing water. Look up Lourdes or Fatima. One of them contains a spring with miracle water. The desire for miracle is not limited to Africans. |
italo: I think the man is generalizing.SMH....My grandpa last wife was extorted. A widow with no means of income. No need posting again. I was a catholic well versed in the teachings and doctrines of the church. I left fully in 2000. Count my number of years of faithful service in the Charismatic Renewal,Steward, Singing Ministry, Teaching Ministry and Healing Ministry. I must have gathered some deep knowledge and experience along the line. Uptill now, i am on the mail list of some Catholic groups. |
try69: From what I can deduce up, there is no light in the catholic church? Ok!Please take time and read my background in other threads. I have never condemned the Catholic Church. I got born again in the Charismatic Renewal in 1988. baptized in the Spirit with evidence of speaking in other tongues in 1989. So seeing the light to me means getting answers to questions the Catholic Faith could not answer adequately. There are Catholics who are born again and Spirit filled. There are Spirit filled priests also like the late Rev Father Stephen Njoku among others. Please read why the Pope who convened the Second Vatican Council called for the ' opening of the Church windows' for fresh air. That prayer led to the Charismatic Renewal. The Foundation of the Charismatic Renewal lies in the pentecostal movement. |
chukwudi44: Bros one does not need to go to an igbo village to know a catholic teaching!! The church is global and its official doctrines and practices can easily be sourced online SMH for clowns like you!! Seeing the light indeedI don't like insults. I don't insult people. You can source doctrines online yes. What of actual practices in the igbo parishes? I have solid catholic background. Became a communicant in 1979, confirmed in 1982. Those, you need to pass your test/exam before bin allowed to receive the sacraments. I was never a nominal catholic but strong and well versed in the sacred tradtions of the church. I wish we can meet face to face and discuss church doctrines without going online. I have seen the light. Lumen Christ. |
GOMBs, Bidam, some of us were serious catholics well schooled in the doctrines of the church before seeing the light. Some catholics are only catholic in name and don't know the doctrines. Some are not serious participants in activities at their home (home town) parishes. They stay in Lagos and Abuja etc and claim catholics. Go to the igbo villages and towns and see what is happening. |
chukwudi44: That parish priest should be sanctioned!! He is a very big disgrace to the Catholic church. That Practice is not in consonance with the teaching of the church and not contained in the Cathchism of the Catholic ChurchDon't work yourself up. A lot of parishes in Orlu Diocese do it. What is the function of AMC card? Annual mission collection card. Even some of the charismatic groups in different parishes collect tithes. It may not be a major teaching but it is there. Check the parishes in Igbo land. The way some of the priests pull for money and hobnob with politicians is sometings else. But there are principled priests like Archbishop Obinna of Owerri. The former parish priest in my place was very hot on politicians and evil men. They ran away from the church bc of him. He settled a lot of family fights over land. I used to be a proper catholic and a top leader of charismatic renewal. We use to go from parish to parish to conduct life in the spirit seminars etc. I became deputy general leader of my prayer group in 1988. The prayer group was established around 1984-5. |
italo: If your account is accurate, this is new and distasteful to my ears.It is not new. Btw 1994-1995. The parish priest holds a PhD in church history. He is a family friend in a way. He is in his 70s now. I have his number. |
Iceman296: No Catholic Church Keeps record of Tithe Payment.Hi, St Joseph Catholic Church Mgbidi Imo State came up with a scheme called envelope sunday. You are given an envelope and a number. On a particular sunday in a month, your giving will be in that special envelope. It was fashioned after tithe and tithe cards. It was tithe in another. The money you are supposed to give is graded. Later, the envelope will be returned to you for the next envelope sunday. I recall my grandfather's last wife who should be in her 80's then bin told her giving was lower than level. Her envelope was returned with a note telling her the shortfall she need to make up. We laughed and laughed. So where are the peeps saying no catholic church keeps record of tithe payment. Even the parish priest who introduced it made reference to tithe. |
Both CAN and CAN are doing a lot already to help xtians in the north. They are rebuilding churches, feeding orphans and taking care of widows. Maybe, both bodies need to increase the tempo. Individual churches are also doing much to help the situation. They are not making noise. Most of the money they are spending helping in the north comes from tithes and offering. |
This for you, Spyder. Nwanne, you deserve every jug of nkwu ocha extended to you.

[quote author=nne38 Every christian channel now have a bank account displayed at the bottom of the screen where if you sow seed in seven days you will turn to a millionaire. Don't get me wrong, am a christian and it worries me that people are now being decieved by magicians disguised as men of God. Please I want to advice you test the spirit and know the type that operate in the church you worship. You are free to add "end time miracles" you see or hear so that people can learn and beware.[/quote]Are you that every Christian channel now displays a bank account? I am a Christian also. Point out the error but don't add assumptions. |
