BusinessRe: Traders Count Losses As Police Demolish Computer Village POWA Complex by uksam007: 8:47am On Jan 02, 2024
Mynd44:
The police isn't the problem, Nigerians are the problem.

The initial quit notices were served in 2019. The tenants went to court and the court case started. The court finally ruled that POWA had the right to evict and demolish.

POWA applied for a demolition permit, it was issued and the tenants were served a 3-Month notice ending December 31st.

Then they were also served a 24-hour notice on December 30 to remind them.

As at midnight of 12am January 1, those tenants should have left as they didn't have any legal stance or any right to be there, POWA had gone through the needed steps too and so they can't be held liable.

Also note that those asking where the tenants should go, POWA has not been collecting rent since 2019 when the initial quit notices were served. They refused to make plans now this has happened.
I knew there was more to the story.

May the soul of the dead rest in peace. The way the op put the story also lacks empathy too. But A call center in this context is a scam center where people from Asia call Americans and set them up on bogus subscriptions to be able to steal money from there cards. Let the police do there work. Those guys are actually good. We the public are also vigilant and will be on the lookout. But I don't think this is the right way to go about it.

Yes true but if firearms are legalised today I bet you, the morgues will be filled up. We live in a society that’s full of hate and bad governance.
I feel you. Though you said if it were legalized which it actually is provided one has the required documentation.
Unfortunately the state we are in the country at the moment is very bad. The morgues are already filled up too

I love guns too but I have never own or shot a gun before
If Nigeria was a bit more transparent a lot more people will be able to own and use firearms. If not for defense but for hunting

While many people may assume that guns are practically illegal in NIGERIA, there is actually a legal process in place in acquiring an authorised firearm. Members of the public may own firearms, subject to obtaining the appropriate permit, this is in the form of a firearm license.

Though not everybody will be eligible to get the license due to age and several other factors.

What is a Firearm license?

To legally obtain a firearm in Nigeria such as shotgun or pistol you will need a firearm license. Yes I said pistol too. Though presently it is said that only the presidency can grant that license ( pistol). It is important to know that it's still obtainable.

How do you get one?

Permission to possess or to purchase a firearm in Nigeria can only be granted to an individual after they have been assessed by the police force and passed the necessary checks.

How do the police decide who can own a firearm?

As part of your application for a firearm license, the firearms licensing unit of the police force will conduct a number of checks.

Some of these checks will include, a criminal record check, property inspection, and a full report from a medical doctor to evaluate the mental health and wellbeing of the applicant.

A firearm license cannot be granted unless police are satisfied both that the applicant has a good reason to own the firearm and that they do not pose a threat to public safety.

Now that said about the license.

How do you get a gun after getting a license?

This is where the wahala is as there are presently no functioning walk-in gun shops that I know of at the moment in Nigeria. So how do you get one?

1. Unknown to the public there are several arms contractors that will readily sell you a "shotgun/ pump" mostly, provided you have the required documents to obtain one . I've not really come across pistols from these contractors. Why don't they just have shops one can walk-in and buy a gun. I don't really know but I'm guessing they usually deal with large contracts for the police, military, private corporations etc. That's just my guess though.
2. You can get from the license issuing agency obviously they will have a network of how to get one. The issue here for me will be price and where they get it from. Since they are not the direct seller it is usually more expensive and there is a high possibility it was gotten from the black market or confiscated from criminals.
3. Black market. This should be self explanatory

That's my little write up about that
I am Sam I love guns
I have a license to own one in Nigeria
Also in the states
And a conceal Carry Permit from Maryland.
I'm also presently doing some self defense courses. Though I'm more of an arms for game and livestock protection person.

You can checkout the Nigeria firearms act of 1958 for more information.

Thank you for the read.
