I parked my car in the work place parking lot (forgot to pull the handbrake). And went into the office.
During storm Franklyn, car rolled back and ‘rested’ on a Mercedes Benz E. This broke the Mercedes Benz Logo on the front grill.
I met with Mercedes owner and asked if repairs could be arranged outside of insurance.
Today, I received a quote of £1,052 Which is really plenty (considering the small damage as I perceive it).

Now I am thinking of involving my insurance company. Is this a good idea please?
Will my premium increase massively next year? Will this count as me involved in an accident? I am in year 3 of No Claims. Please is the No claims bonus (after 5 years) usually big? Is it worth it?

What part of UK are you moving to? use rightmove.co.uk to check what the monthly rent looks like for a suitable accomodation.
If you cook estimate 150£/month for feeding
Council tax energy bills water internet 400£/month very generous estimate

etc etc.

if your are purely looking at wages its a numbers game.

but you can look at other factors as well
healthcare
security
career progression oppurtunity etc

try to make a pro and cons table it should aid you in making a decision.

I normally buy from my local Asda/Tesco for 149p/l. I decided to try Shell premium diesel recently because, apparently, it has additives that helps 'flush' diesel engines. I paid 166p/l for it, but the car engine still sounds the same to me after using it. No difference from Supermarket diesel whatsoever.

If we are not careful, diesel will soon hit 200p/l. This is the same diesel we were paying 119p/l just a few months ago.

Shell 99 octane petrol gives me better millage, I haven't used supermarket in a while and bought Asda some days back, the next they I was having rough idle on cold start. I don't know what was the cause but I want to blame omit on the petrol. I have since gone back to 99 octane.

One day I will be brave enough to get a diesel engine. Phobia of generator and truck diesel engine repairs from naija won't allow me to go near them

The only option I can think of is taking them to an employment tribunal but that involves a fair amount of legal costs and there's no guarantee she will win.

Did this involve the police? He might get away with it if the police are not involved and he agrees to repair the other car out of pocket without involving his insurance (or lack of) company.
However if the police are involved, he should expect a fine and some points on his non-existent license. This is in addition to footing the repair costs.

The other car involved is a company car so it's not up to a person to decide. They might have to follow company policy

As per d repercussions, did he have anyone with full licence beside him? That may help mitigate his cost. The insurance may potentially cancel his current cover and he will still be liable for the full amount for the year, increased premium, and if any issues found with the claim, he could be charged with the repaired cost of the other party

He has a wrong insurance. I.e provisional license and driving alone without l plates

Guy failed

first test in less than 10min. Roundabout going right but was on the wrong lane. Them kuku bring am back to test center.

Second test was the funny one. He used the wrong lane to exit the gate of the test center. So he basically failed in less than 5min. Another guy failed the test doing the same thing that day. Laugh one finish me.

First test switching lanes without proper observations, there was a van oncoming examiner hold steering.

Second test

He no see red traffic light examiner shout stop.

But still. Observations lacking in both tests.


Advice for anyone taking the test look mirrors almost as much as you are looking front.

Safe driving is all what the examiner wants to see.

You can fail because of manover unless it's observations related

Check if the car has a timing chain or timing belt.

If it has a timing belt, it has already started approaching a pricey repair.

If you get an example of 90k then possibly the timing belt has been fixed so less worries.

Most cars bought 1500 and below should be bought with driving it for as long as possible. Because next destination might be scrap yard. As it would be too old to sell

I have been seeing some conflicting info and not much can be seen on the home office website as regards what term time fully entails. I have mailed the school but I doubt I can get a fast response

A friend shared this with me - https://www.gre.ac.uk/visa/during-your-studies/working-in-the-uk-during-your-study and it says during summer, MSc students will still be restricted to 20hrs per week with full time allowed only during Easter and December breaks (Only 20 hours per week maximum in permitted because you will be required to work on your dissertation during this time.)

- If I do get a job with sponsorship, am I tied for that company for the entire 5 yrs? is there a duration the sponsorship contract lasts for?

For MSc they calculate your summer as part of the Time needed for research.

You can apply for jobs anytime. Nobody is monitoring your email/movement.

Your new job will have to provide new CoS as the previous one is tied to the employer who issued it.

The first guy most likely did not use an instructor ("Why I go waste money, I sabi drive already!), or failed to pay attention, because any instructor worth their salt will take you over the driving test route(s) a few times before test day, starting from the test centre itself.

Exactly. He only booked 2 hrs some days to the test saying it was enough.

I spent 5 hrs a day to the test and 1hr on the test day.

I will correct him about something and in the next minute he will do the same thing. I knew quite well he wouldn't pass the first one, I just wanted him to get the test experience and reduce his strong head.

But I never expected sharp sharp failure

Irrespective of which license you get, your entitlement to drive in the UK on a non-UK licence ends exactly one year from the day you entered the UK on your Tier 4 visa, so you must have changed to a full UK licence by then if you wish to continue driving around.

I don't know how things are now (hopefully shouldn't have changed), but back in the day, passing your test in Aberdeen and all those less populated areas in Scotland was way easier than in places like Manchester and London. Once you master roundabouts, all else shouldn't be a problem.
