As a strong believer and follower of our Lord Jesus, I condemn what that lady did and i think she should be punished for instigating a riot to a peaceful environment. I suggest she be made to miss this semester's exam and have an extra semester, this is will go along way to send a strong signal to any intending perpetrators of such act either from the Christian or Islamic community.

Come to think of it HiTv is a naija company and they make thier money from subscription from customers, customers that only watch EPL. With this development, that means lots of our naija people might loose their jobs, na wah ooh!

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Dstv Regains Lucrative English Premiership Rights In $100m Deal by unclebros(op): 10:03am On Jul 23, 2010
Praise God ooooh!

Nigeria’s most lucrative television rights, the English Premier League, EPL, changed hands Tuesday in a $100 million high wire business deal that saw up and coming Nigerian broadcaster, HiTv lose out to DSTv, the multi-channel digital satellite television company. The new deal was signed in London. BusinessDay learnt that HiTv which emerged as the highest bidder paid only $40 million of its bid price of $115 million and did not provide guarantee of the balance on the due date.

It is understood that directors of HiTv were working round the clock negotiating funding with bankers when the deadline for payment expired. It was at this point that owners of the EPL right called up DSTv to make good its bid. DSTv promptly wrote a cheque for $100 million and the deal was signed. Analysts were quick to point to the pervading banking liquidity issues as HiTv’s main obstacle rather than the bankability of the EPL project. Some analysts warned that more companies are gradually dropping off the radar because of the persisting liquidity squeeze in the system.

“This confirms the fact that banks are not really lending and firms can’t find money in the capital market”, says one analyst who was vexed that HiTv could lose its $40 million deposit as provided for in the bid terms. A statement jointly signed by DSTv and EPL yesterday said the arrangement to host the Premiership includes 380 Barclays Premier League matches, plus the Premier League’s 24-hour Content Service in High Definition. This seven day-a-week service launches on August 13 and will be broadcast across the whole of sub-Saharan Africa, including Nigeria.

Premier League Chief Executive, Richard Scudamore was quoted as saying that the organisation is pleased to extend its partnership with SuperSport into Nigeria and are confident that it will continue to deliver a premium product that will showcase the Barclays Premier League to many fans in the territory. The Premier League has traditionally enjoyed outstanding viewership ratings on SuperSport and this commercial arrangement is expected to amplify the league’s popularity.

The Barclays Premier League is the biggest continuous annual sporting event in the world, followed by more than 2.5 billion fans and broadcast to more than 500 million homes. “Nigeria will be one of the very first countries to receive the 24-hour Content Service,” said Imtiaz Patel, CE of SuperSport. “We are delighted to be leading the way with our partners at the Premier League and associates in Nigeria.”

According to the statement, chairman of MultiChoice Nigeria, Adewunmi Ogunsanya, said: “We are happy to welcome back the English Premier League to the DStv platform in Nigeria to stand alongside the other exciting international soccer coverage we already provide to our subscribers here. “However, our focus remains firmly on showcasing homegrown talent from the Nigerian Premier League and we will continue our investments in this regard.

“As a Nigerian business which is committed to providing our growing subscriber community across Nigeria with the world’s best channels and programming, we are pleased that SuperSport were able to take up the opportunity when it presented itself to ensure that fans of this league will not miss any action from it.”

Currently, DSTv and HiTv have subscribers base of 400,000 and over 200,000 respectively in Nigeria.

FoodRe: Have You Ever "stolen" From The Cooking Pot? by unclebros: 1:39pm On Jul 16, 2010
I love this thread!

I can remember the last time i ever stole in my life, i was in SS2 then way back in 1990 (I guess).

My mum (blessed memory) told me to warm the soup, I thought i was alone in the kitchen and the meat really looked good, so with the spoon i just lifted the meat and straight into my mouth, just before i landed the meat in my mouth, I just heard my name (I can still hear it the way she called it then) My mum standing by the kitchen door. I felt like the ground should open and swallow me.

I returned the soup and was so ashamed to look into her eyes for weeks. She didn't tell anyone, didnt even discuss it with me and that was the last time I ever stole anything from anyone.
AutosToyota 2000 Sienna Experience. by unclebros(op): 7:56am On Jul 14, 2010
Alright, a very good friend of mine just bought this 2000 Toyota Sienna XLE (fullest Options) for me from the States. Imagine the mileage is just 68k can you beat that?
I must confess that driving a Sienna is one of the best thing that ever happened to me, the car is classic, silent engine, the shocks are superb! what more can I say. The car even came with manual and the maintenance record log book

Just this morning i noticed and 'check' on the dashboard and the manual states that i should take it to the Toyota dealer.

1. Do I take the car to one of our Naija's toyota dealer
2. Do I take the car to Mufutau my mechanic (however Mufu told me that most cars have the signal on and that there is no reason to panic)

Guys if you have a Sienna experience, please advise what must be done.

Thanks

For those of you who earlier said the refeere was right having cancelled the mexican's clean goal.

It is not an offence in itself to be in an offside position.
A player is in an offside position if:
• he is nearer to his opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the
second-last opponent

@St-Kris

I dont blame those of you that think everyone in Naija is after you cos you just came in from abroad. What most of you dont understand is that people have moved up and no one cares about you.

The way some people brag about coming to naija one would think they are bringing $1M dollars, you bring your broke backside with $5 dollar Tshirts/pants and you think you want to impress people?

The real people with real networth do not make noise, they just board the plane fly into naija and enjoy themselves.
Abeg make i hear word joo!

TravelRe: Going To Nigeria For The First Time? by unclebros: 1:18pm On Jun 02, 2010
I get so angry each time someone living outside Naija is complaining about fears of coming home. If you are afraid of coming to see your family and friends then one must be afraid of you too! I hate it when people think as if everyone in naija is a thief. Listen to yourself poster 'afraid of coming to see your own people. are the oyinbos you live with your people?"

My reason is because you were once like them before you traveled out. So we must suspect you too

For God sakes, I have two siblings living in Europe for more than 10yrs now and they come home frequently, my elder brother is building houses for the two of them while i manage their shares portfolio and other investments including mine as well.

We all grew up together and properly brought up (our parents were not rich but we thank God for where we are today)

if your family are not developing themselves and you do not trust them, then its your family wahala , pls stop boring us with stories like this!
