From Asaba .... we see them flee like flies in tomato and cow trucks....they have no guts to fight back in Igbo domain.

Why do landlord indiscriminately increase rent for sitting tenants causing more hardship on tenants

in a time where virtually every one is financially dry.
in a time where the economy is in very bad shape and businesses are struggling to survive.
in a time where (private sector workers) are loosing their jobs by the day and many states are in huge debts and cannot pay salaries. even government works are complaining of hard times as they are finding it difficult to steal since loopholes are been blocked and stolen funds are recovered forcefully with jail time penalty attached.

Many Nigerians workers in the private sector were employed as contract workers or casual workers .. as in Banks construction companies oil and gas companies e.t.c their "TAKE HOME PAY CANNOT TAKE THEM HOME". and even those who are not employed not as casual, they still struggle to make ends meet.

Many employee's have got no promotions and no pay rise for years in their organisaations. yet they get yearly increment in rent rates.

Where do Landlords want people to get the extra money from. Why do they make life unbearable and difficult for tenants.....

Indiscriminate increment is evil and must be checked.
It depletes the tenants savings. it reduces his average life to a poorer status. It contributes in creating more community slumps, as those who cannot afford the new rates are forced to relegate to lower status. Homeless and destitute sets in. Criminals arise and insecurity sets in.

Indiscriminate increment is a bad hindrance for progress.
it is unfair to increase rent just because your tenant got a new job or just bought a new television. it is unfair to increase rent because your tenant managed to buy a tokunbo car or Nigerian used car.or because you heard from gossips that your tenant is trying to put up his own building somewhere.

some landlords even increase rents with reasons that roads have been graded by the government or that street lights were installed in the community by the government.

I heard my colleague say "OH GOD i am just working for my Land Lord". Rent eats up all my savings and I have little or nothing left to sustain me. he lives in a 3bed room flat somewhere at Ogba Lagos state, and got an arrogant notice of increment from 800,000 to N1.5m just because the government repaired their road.

I wonder how he is going to cope...people are forced into stealing, prostituting or scamming because of their desire to meet up with demands

why do landlords increase rents without regards to the present / poor state of the tenants who is even struggling to pay the old rates.
the Hustle is real. there is hunger on the street. people struggle everyday just to survive.

Most of these land lords don't hustle everyday like u and I on the streets. they sit down and wait for month end or year end...just to collect rent
Landlords should apply compassion and Mercy in dealing with tenants.....we are all not Billionaires and millionaires. we are not all recipients of Dasuki-gate.
