I am NOT surprised that the Fulani Government of Nigeria is going after corrupt Southerners with a vengeance unlike the kind, gentler treatment that it metes out to Fulanis who have run afoul of the law. I am not disputing whether they are Christians or not...in Southern Kaduna, we have history of feud between Hausa Fulanis and the Atyap people that extend to other non Hausa Fulanis in that region. They fight over land, markets, historic dominance...even over the type of food they can sell in the market. Market location and local government has cause problem in the past.

Atyap and other minority tribes are predominantly Christian's while the Hausa Fulanis are Muslim...even if they fight over land, any casualties on any of the side can be termed Muslim vs Christians fight.

But in real sense of it they could be fighting over land and not religion...but Obi people are too ethnic and religious conscious that, all they see is either ethnic cleansing or religious killings. What's involved is more than all these based on historical clashes between these two people. May be you want to read Zango Kataf crisis to have an idea,

And who are the indigenous owners of the land? And for your information, Hausas are NOT Fulanis. That was the concept that the Fulanis used...Hausa-Fulani until the Hausas were emasculated. And now the Fulanis prefer to be called by their original name. They even get offended when referred to as Hausas. They prefer to use the words "We the northerners" No longer Hausa-Fulani.

Zango kataf for instance in 1992 witnessed huge massacre over land, trades involving beer and pork… which eventually culminated into ethnic, then religious clashes.

Most conflicts you see there has historic foundations and not necessarily because of religion or ethnicity. Most time it’s because of the land itself.

It's mighty funny and a mere coincidence that the names of those massacred are NOT Mohammed, Jibril, Mahmoud, etc but Peter, Cletus, Levi, etc!
