Jobs/VacanciesRe: He Got A Call From TOTAL For an Appointment. Pls Who Else Got It? by upengineer: 9:55am On Dec 20, 2014
I dont work there but one thing I can say is if the number that called him starts with 080701***** then it may be 50percent true. The posibilities are that he passed the interview but the HR team decided to offer him another role based on his QUALIFICATION and possibly experience. His profile might not fit into operations but can fit in into the new role they are offering him. So let him go and see things out

CareerRe: Offshore Oil Worker, lets Meet Here by upengineer: 4:09am On Aug 11, 2014
Yes, i work on one of the FPSOs you listed. You are really vast with FPSO names. As regards babes visiting, well on my FPSO, babes cant visit. Reason been the remoteness of the location and the distance. My location is deep water, Gulf of Guinea. Maybe other locations or BARGES but on a FPSO, i think no. But i stand to be corrected. Drills are normal, no special thing about it. It can happen anytime. Entry Qualification depends on the job you are coming in for and that is determined by the HR. There are different jobs for different people depending on where you belong. There is marine department, there we have 2nd officers, deck hands, riggers e.t.c to welders, to painters to galley hands. Though the galley (canteen) is handled by a third party company to Rope Access guys. Sure, there is job for everybody. Though, am in operations sha. I think i have answered some funny questions

CareerRe: Offshore Oil Worker, lets Meet Here by upengineer: 7:23am On Aug 01, 2014
You will not be stressed up, trust me on that. Most things that keep you going now are available offshore. In my field, we have wi-fi in strategic locations and in the rooms. So, if you are an internet freak, that's a plus for you. If you like football, am sure DSTV connections available in rooms should solve that for you. You will definitely see colleagues that belong to your club. If you also like watching movies and news, you will get enough of it. If you are the athletic type, the gym is available for you to go and exercise yourself. So, you won't be stressed up. We don't have female nurse on my FPSO, we only male Doctors. So, read, have a good grade, believe in yourself and above all put your trust in God.
salamso96: This thread is a highly motivating one. Am a student Of Mechanical and productions engineering here in Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi. and i wish that one day probably after graduation, i would get to work offshore.
I really need you that are into it aleady to give a little piece of advice on how to make it up there without being stressed up. Cus obviously you all sound relaxed and cool now. You know what u see on your pay slip makes you smile. Definitely u must have been through some hard times. Nothing good comes easy.
please give us aspirant areas where we should focus more on. God bless y'all.

Upengineer, but you also benefit from flight cancellations, "safety first", I fly commercial Lagos to Niger-Delta and then connect to my location every 2wks (to/fro) So stressful but interesting. The food aspect , breakfast in my location starts 6am-7:30.... I skip dis most times.

CareerRe: Offshore Oil Worker, lets Meet Here by upengineer: 9:37pm On Jul 20, 2014
well,
I work on a FPSO in Gulf of Guinea. I am in operations. Ironically, I got the job through an advert I responded to here on Nairaland. Its been three years now flying "chopper" and I have never had any regret whatsoever. The environment is challenging and interesting. Sights of sharks and Dolphins is normal then migratory birds also visit once its their time to migrate. Weather is a low side of offshore particularly when you have dressed up ready to go home after staying away from home for 14days only to be told chopper wont come because of bad weather and you will have to put on your coverall again back to work. Its fun and interesting. Food is also another negative side. You have to wakeup and eat as early as 6:30am. If you are not use to eating early then there will be a problem. In all, no regret working offshore!

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Jobs at Total by upengineer: 10:05pm On Jul 02, 2014
Very simple, create a new email address and a new CV that suits the vacancy. Use the new email address to create a new profile on Total web site. You might need to change your address if need be. Then apply, chikena!

JesusDWay: From what i've observed, you will have to apply through your account on their website. I've already created an account there earlier this year but what i'm wondering about now is, since the requirement is OND, will i have to readjust my cv on their website to contain only my OND and my work experience to be limited to the one year industrial training i had with them like 10years ago? Really need answer afap, as i've sent the application initially with my HND, not wanting them to wonder what ive been doing since but then, presently thinking of withdrawing it and reapplying with just the details of my OND. Does anyone have an advice?
