Politics / CORRECTION: Anambra Guber Election In Ihiala LGA To Hold On Nov 9, Not Nov 13 by Upritman(m): 7:33am On Nov 08
An earlier thread with source from the New Telegraph had erroneously reported that the governorship election in Ihiala LGA will hold On November 13.
Read the correction below;
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared the governorship election in Anambra State as inconclusive.
This follows alleged irregularities discovered in most communities in Ihiala Local Government Area which has 148,407 registered voters.
The declaration was made in the early hours of Monday, around 12:20 a.m by the state Returning Officer for the election, Florence Obi, the vice-chancellor of University of Calabar.
Mrs Obi said; “Based on constitutional provision and consideration of the Electoral Act as well as the revised regulations and guidelines for the conduct of elections issued by the commission, supplementary election is indicated for Ihiala Local Government Area,” the state returning officer.
She added that the constitution provides for a candidate to secure both the highest number of votes cast and 25 per cent of votes cast in at least two-third of the local government areas of the state to declare the winner.
“Therefore, it is important to complete the election in Ihiala to make this determination,” she said.
Politics Hub Nigeria recalls that on Sunday, Mr.Ahmadu Umar, the Collation Officer in charge of Ihiala Local Government had announced that there was no election in the council area on Saturday due to the activities of some politicians who tried to rig the election.
It was further gathered that the election has been rescheduled to hold on Tuesday, November 09, 2021.
The INEC Official also warned trouble makers to steer clear of all the venues where the election will hold in the Ihiala Council area.
Politics Hub Nigeria reports that Prof.Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has so far scored a total of 103,946 votes and won the election in 18 out of the 21 local government areas of the state.
Valentine Ozigbo of the PDP and Ifeanyi Uba of the YPP won in one local government area respectively.
Politics / Anambra Poll: APGA Council Chairman, 10 Ward Chairmen Defect To APC by Upritman(m): 8:47am On Nov 05
Politics Hub Nigeria
The Chairman of Awka North Local Government Area under the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Hon. Uzoma Mbonu, 10 ward chairmen, and other members of their executive have defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Anambra State.
This is coming less than 48 hours to the governorship election in Anambra State.
The defectors were received into the APC by the governorship candidate, Senator Andy Uba at an event which was held at Central School, Ebenebe, in Awka North LGA.
Uba. who assured residents of Awka, the state capital, that his administration will restore the original master plan of the town, if elected on November 6 also decried the deplorable state of infrastructure across Awka Municipal, saying: “Awka has been robbed of its glory by previous administrations in the state.”
According to Him, none of the previous administrations has paid meaningful attention to the development of the state capital and the satellite towns around it.
He said: “It is sad to note that more than 30 years after the creation of our dear state, our capital town is not reflective of who we are as Ndi Anambra.
“Although we are nationally and internationally regarded as an educationally advantaged state with innovative and industrious citizens to boot, the neglect of our capital town of Awka, especially by the outgoing Governor Willy Obiano administration, remains a poor reflection of who we really are.
“Besides the last-minute attempt by the APGA government to hoodwink our people with an airport project, Governor Obiano, in seven years, did not construct, reconstruct, or rehabilitate any road in the capital city.”
“Yet, Awka, by reason of its status as the capital of Anambra State, remains our common heritage and so deserves close attention year in, year out.
“But because of Governor Obiano administration’s refusal to develop Awka Municipal, infrastructure in the state capital has collapsed, leaving residents spending endless man-hours on avoidable traffic congestion.
“As your governor, I will make Awka a focal point of my administration. And in doing so, we shall develop the satellite communities as a strategic plan to decongest Awka town and make it really livable.”
Politics Hub Nigeria recalls that a United States-based research and political risk consultancy firm, Hallmark International Consulting Company, has tipped Senator Andy Uba to win the November 6, 2021 governorship election in Anambra State.
His candidature has enticed many top politicians to defect to the APC. It is unclear if these defections will translate into his eventual victory on Saturday.

Politics / Rejoinder: The Man Wearing A Tinubu 2023 Polo Not A Rivers Commissioner by Upritman(m): 3:42pm On Oct 26
My attention was this afternoon drawn to a post by someone on this thread > https://www.nairaland.com/6821230/rivers-commissioner-justice-wore-tinubu >, in which the person had claimed that the Rivers State Commissioner of Justice in Rivers State was the one wearing a polo with inscriptions in support of Bola Tinubu becoming the president of Nigeria in 2023.
That is absolutely FALSE, FAKE and MISLEADING.
The person with the Tinubu Polo there is Barr.Worgu Boms, a former Commissioner of Justice under the Rotimi Amaechi administration and not Prof.Zaccheus Adangor, the incumbent commissioner under Gov.Wike.
The said Mr.Boms has long lost friendship with Amaechi, especially in 2018 when he pitched his political tent to Senator Magnus Abe.
He is one of the key personalities in the camp of Senator Abe whose case in court denied APC the chance of contesting the 2019 general elections in Rivers State and currently leads a faction of the APC in Rivers State.
Mr,Boms is also the Rivers State Steering Committee Chairman of the 2023 Pro-Tinubu Group. It was during his recent inauguration that he was given the said polo, after which he later visited his principal who just returned from abroad to brief him.
As at today, no current commissioner under Gov.Wike can dare to wear a polo or face cap in support of APC's Tinubu.
Recall that Gov.Wike had even vowed not to support his benefactor, former President Goodluck Jonathan if he defects to the APC and flies their 2023 presidential ticket.
Even wearing that of Atiku of the same PDP can land any commissioner who dares it in regrettable troubles. More so, at a time when Gov.Wike is seriously interested in the 2023 presidency.
Finally, while people are entitled to their over-zealousness, it is important that MODs on Nairaland take to the required due diligence so as to ensure that people are not misinformed or misled via this very important platform.

Nearly a year after his reelection and subsequently running the government without a cabinet, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has finally nominated commissioners.
Gov.Obaseki's delay in setting up his cabinet had elicited viral condemnations including a rumoured defection plot by his deputy who was aggrieved by the delay.

Politics / Reno Omokri Supports Northern Governors, Says "Power Should Remain In North" by Upritman(m): 2:18pm On Sep 28
Former Presidential Aide, Reno Omokri, has supported the recent position of Northern Governors against the compulsory demand for a Southern President in 2023.
Omokri, in a tweet on Tuesday joined his voice to the debate saying that power should remain in the north.
According to him, the North claiming the 2023 presidency will teach Southerners how to unite. He lamented how some Southerners in 2015 betrayed their own, former President Goodluck Jonathan and supported Muhammadu Buhari, who later won the poll.
“I support Northern Governors’ rejection of power shift to the South. Let power remain in the North after 2023 to teach Southerners the power of unity.
“Southerners united with Northerners to betray an innocent Southerner in 2015 and expect Northerners to trust them?”
“The Presidency should remain with the North until Southerners learn unity. Traitors are by their nature unreliable. If they can betray one so close to them to you, they can also betray you to others. Look at FFK. No Northerner can ever exhibit such a trait! Tueh!, he tweeted.
Politics Hub Nigeria recalls that Northern Governors Forum on Monday had condemned calls by Southern Governors for a-must-power shift to the south in 2023.

Politics / We Will Deploy Everything In Our Arsenal To Ensure Victory For APC In Anambra by Upritman(m): 6:46pm On Sep 25
We Will Deploy Everything In Our Arsenal To Ensure Victory For APC In Anambra - Senator Oduah
The lawmaker representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Senator Stella Oduah has vowed to work with others in deploying all in their political arsenal to ensure that the All Progressives Congress, APC, wins the upcoming governorship election in Anambra State.
Senator Oduah who stated this during the APC stakeholders meeting in Awka, the state capital on Saturday, boasted that no person or political party can stop the APC from winning the November 6 governorship election.
The former Minister also promised to deliver the zone (Anambra North) to APC and its governorship candidate, Senator Andy Uba during the election.
Senator Oduah who had recently defected from PDP to the APC was represented at the meeting by Princess Nwaka Ononuju.
While calling on all APC Leaders and aggrieved persons to close ranks for the party’s victory, Senator Oduah said they were not leaving anything to chances in delivering Uba at the poll.
She said; “We are committed to deploying everything in our arsenal to ensure victory for the APC in Anambra North come November 6(2021) and this is not a contest I take lightly, as I have immense respect and confidence in the ability of Senator Andy Uba to turn, and position, Anambra to a state every Anambrarian can be proud of.
“That being said, I am making a personal commitment to ensure victory for our great party and the work has already begun, in the way and manner our various support groups, NGOs and teeming supporters spread across the length and breadth of Anambra North have already been deployed in a massive polling unit to polling unit campaign drive.”
” For far too long, Anambra has been unfortunate to have political parties at the helm of its affairs that are alien to governments at the centre, which invariably meant that the dividends of democracy that should accrue to it, have not really trickled down as they should.
“We have been too disconnected from the centre, to the point where everything we ever got were either through the personal efforts of individuals like Senator Andy Uba, our party candidate, or an almost slavish arrangement that meant we had to go cap in hand(begging).”
“Come November 6, 2021, the APC shall take centre stage in Agu Awka.”

Politics / Former Bauchi State Governor Declares Interest For APC National Chairmanship by Upritman(m): 6:12am On Aug 13
A former governor of Bauchi State, Mallam Isa Yuguda, has joined other top political gladiators from the north to declare interest to contest for the national chairmanship of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Yuguda, a one-time Minister of State for Transport disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday in Abuja.
He said his decision to contest the number one job in the ruling party was premised on the fact that he understands power dynamism at the center has served as minister for six years and governor for eight years.
Yuguda, who received executive members of Coalition of APC support groups who paid him a courtesy visit in his Abuja office, said he was not coming to warm the Chair as national chairman but to proffer quality solutions to resolve the lingering crisis and division in the party.
The party chieftain assured that if he emerges as the national chairman of the party, he would ensure that justice and equity were entrenched in the party and would guarantee party supremacy, which he assured would help put an end to the various crisis rocking the party.
“I felt I was strongly favored by the Almighty God who created us. I felt very strongly that rather than relegating myself to the bush where I am now to get a living to come back and offer myself because I know I have been favored.”
Yuguda who had also served as a former minister of aviation, described Nigerian politics as ‘terrible’, noted that he was however very circumspect to return to the murky waters of Nigerian politics but decided to offer himself because he has been highly favored by God.
He added, “I was privileged to serve in Nigeria for six years as Minister and eight as governor. I think I have served long enough in the Villa to know the dynamism in the power at the center. I’m the dullest person, at least I still have to offer something that will be meaningful. This is why I said let me give it a shot if it be, fine and good and if it doesn’t the Almighty Allah will not say you did not come out.”
Speaking on behalf of the Coalition, Chairman Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Coalition, Mr. Tunde Imolehin, mooted that there was a need for the party to build a foundation that would make it sustainable. |Politics / Why We Postponed Our Congresses Indefinitely - APC by Upritman(m): 10:22am On Jul 11|
The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, says her earlier scheduled congresses from ward, local government to State levels were postponed indefinitely to "cure a legal land mine".
This was disclosed by Senator John Akpanudeodehe, who is the National Secretary of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee.
Politics Hub Nigeria recalls that a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had revealed the indefinite postponement of the Congresses.
This postponement has also affected the possibility of holding the APC's National Convention in September.
But Senator Akpanudeodehe said the postponement of the congresses was to ensure that the party remained on the side of the law by notifying the electoral body of its activities.
The APC expressed shock at how the letter addressed to INEC was leaked to the general public.
“The above document in circulation does not intend a postponement of the congresses. How it leaked from INEC is strange.
“It is to cure the legal land mine occasioned by Section 85 of the Electoral Act on the issuance of 21 Days’ notice to INEC, bearing in mind that the earlier date we released was not sacrosanct,”Senator Akpanudeodehe said.
Meanwhile some aggrieved APC members have alleged that the postponement is part of a grand plot by members of the Caretaker Committee to continue to remain in office for a long time. This has raised fears and tensions that these aggrieved members might soon drag the APC to court to vent their grievances.
Health / 5 Key Things To Note When Buying Things That Might Affect Your Health by Upritman(m): 5:31pm On Jun 26
As a way of ensuring our survival as human beings we buy things everything that we either eat or use for other purposes. Importantly, almost all of those things bought have health implications that we must be cautious of.
In this post, we will look at five things you must consider whenever you buy something. Negligence over these five key health concerns, exposes us to great health implications.
These FIVE KEY HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS are as below:
Expiry Date: Every product is expected to have both manufacturing and expiry dates. The manufacturing date is the particular date that the product was produced, while the expiry date is the date that the product is supposed to get bad or spoiled. Although, some products are expected to remain in good consumable condition few weeks or even months after the state stated on the product. However, for products that are easily perishable, avoid eating them if they have expired. Eating products that have expired poses serious health risks or dangers to the person. So how often do you check expiry dates on products before consuming the products?
Packaging: This has to do with putting the product in a good and attractive physical condition. The packaging of any product has a way of influencing or pushing away its customers. Poor packaging of a product can lead to health risks or challenges for the buyers. The health, sanitary or hygienic conditions of the factory of manufacturer has a direct influence on the packaging of the product. Have you ever heard of people buying a drink and they claim that they saw a cockroach or any other insect inside the bottle? Or perhaps the common and most neglected one of someone buying a product and noticing that the packet is torn from where air enters the product and spoils the product? To buttress this point, some companies will always caution consumers against consuming the product if the seal has been removed or tampered with. This serves as a reminder to the importance of consuming goods that are only in the best packaging condition.
NAFDAC Number: All foods and drugs consumed in Nigeria are supposed to be certified by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC. The easiest way of identifying products approved by NAFDAC is through the NAFDAC Number displayed on the body of the products. There are claims that the NAFDAC Number has been forged by some manufacturers to deceive the consuming public. However,NAFDAC has two means of solving this issue. One is through the use of Mobile Authentication Service (MAS) against counterfeiting and by checking if the product is in NAFDAC's Product Database. Consuming any manufactured product that is not approved by NAFDAC is a direct risk to your health.
Producer's Details: All genuine products are supposed to have the details of the manufacturers written on it. The contact details should include the producer's name, office address, official phone numbers, and place of manufacturing. This is especially for feedback purposes which is supposed to serve the best interest of the buyer and help the manufacturer to improve its services or goods. Do you know the real name of the manufacturer of that your favourite product let alone their address or customer care contact number? If you value your health, then you should check that the products you are eating have these details.
Nutritional Information: We buy and eat things because of the nutrients we expect to get for the nourishment of our bodies. Sadly enough, many persons buy products without a conscious knowledge of the nutritional table. This is a risky careless act that can affect your health. Your choice of any product should be based on the nutrients inherent in that product. For instance, it is nutritionally foolish for someone who wants to lose weight to be buying and eating products that are rich in carbohydrate, fat, calories and cholesterol. Also, always check the ingredients used in producing any product(s), so that you will know if it contains ingredients that are detrimental to your health.
Politics / Niger Delta Militants Vow To Cripple Nigeria's Economy And Attack Politicians by Upritman(m): 2:19pm On Jun 26
Niger Delta Militants under the auspices of Niger Delta Avengers, has announced her return with a vow to cripple Nigeria's economy and attack politicians.
The new decision was contained in a statement released on Saturday in which the militant group said it had launched ‘Operation Humble’ which is targeted at crippling the Nigerian economy.
Niger Delta Avengers in the statement also threatened to attack politicians who are working with the Federal Government “to undermine the Niger Delta region”.
It further expressed lost confidence in the Chief Edwin Clark-led Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), which played a critical role to make the group accept ceasefire in 2017 and vowed that ‘No oil installation will be spared’.
Politics Hub Nigeria recalls that Niger Delta Avengers had launched attacks on oil installations when President Muhammadu Buhari was barely a year in office, forcing Nigeria into recession.
The statement reads below:
“There is no gainsaying that the failed country called Nigeria which has fed fat on our God-given wealth is at the brink of total disintegration, owing to the security and related challenges across the country; ranging from terrorism and banditry in the North, to the secessionist gongs of the Oduduwa people of the South-west and IPOB of the South-east it is obvious that peace in the Niger Delta, and by extension, the South-South geopolitical region is the very thin piece still binding this country together.”
“It is disheartening that despite being the economic backbone and having resolved to maintain the peaceful environment for the smooth operations of the oil multinationals whose proceeds the country cling unto for economic survival, the Niger Delta and the South-South remain the most under developed, with our needs and interests undermined by the failed Nigerian State.
“We decided to suspend our famous operation red economy‚ which bled the Nigerian economy into recession about 4 years ago not because we are lazy, but for the love we have for our people and out of respect for the voice of the elders of the Niger Delta region, who beckoned on us to give peace a chance and avail the government time to act on our demands at the time.”
“In a move to remind this failed government that we have exhausted the very last iota of patience, the High Command of the Niger Delta Avengers have in a meeting held last night resolved as follows:
“We have lost total confidence on all socio-cultural groups like PANDEF, the elders of Niger Delta and the bunch of so-called ex-agitators frolicking with the Government at our detriment.
“This operation shall be coded ‘Operation Humble’‚ aimed at bringing down targeted oil installations in the Niger Delta Region, capable of humbling the economy into permanent recession.
“This mission is also targeted at political actors who are collaborating with the Nigerian Government to undermine the interest of the Niger Delta people.
“There is no doubt that the Nigerian Government has continued to pay deaf ears to our demands and the rising challenges in the country, because the pipelines that crisscross our lands are left untouched, allowing dollars to flow into the Federal treasury on a daily basis for, mismanagement.
“We shall spare no single oil installation within our range of strategic targets marked for destruction in the coming days and we bet the Nigerian Government will be humbled to return to the drawing board and chart an all-inclusive course by the time we are done with our action plan.
“Members of our strike teams across the Niger Delta are commanded to be on red alert, awaiting precise strike plans as mapped by the high command of the NDA.”
