Politics / Protesting Youths Demand The Expulsion Of Timi Alaibe From PDP by Upritman(m): 1:32pm On Mar 10, 2020
A group of youths from the Bayelsa State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) under the auspices of National Youth Rebirth Forum, on Tuesday, staged a protest demanding the expulsion of Mr. Timi Alaibe from the party.

The protest is coming amidst sustained legal battle by the former NDDC Boss to reclaim the seat of power in Bayelsa State from the incumbent, Senator Douye Diri.

Bittertruth Media recalls that Mr.Alaibe in his pre-election suit is asking the court to void Diri’s nomination and he (Alaibe) be declared the winner of the PDP primary election.

According to him, the primary election that produced Diri as PDP candidate breached the provisions of the party’s constitution.

Angered by that move by Mr.Alaibe, the members of the group who stormed the Abuja national secretariat of the party, accused Alaibe of being an active member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The group carried various placards in support of Senator Douye Diri, the new governor of Bayelsa State.

Meanwhile judgment is expected in the case of Mr.Alaibe against the PDP and Senator Diri this Tuesday.

The Rivers State Government led by Barr.Nyesom Wike has sealed off the newly constructed Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Secretariat in the state.

This is coming amidst renewed tension between the Government and the organised labour in Rivers State over the implementation of the new national minimum wage.

Although Gov.Wike had announced the commencement of the implementation of the new minimum wage in the state from this January, workers in the state were disgruntled following discrepancies in what they were actually paid.

Reacting to the sealing of the state built NLC Secretariat, the NLC Chairlady in Rivers State, Comr.Mrs Beatrice Itubo, who expressed shock at the action of the government blamed the action on the recent disagreement between labour and the government relating to the implementation of the new minimum wage.

Mrs.Itubo wondered how the Rivers State Government arrived at the figures to pay when negotiations into the new Minimum was yet to be concluded.

She demanded the immediate reconvening of the minimum wage committee to address the controversial issue of minimum wage.

Mrs.Itubo further warned the Rivers State Government to desist from intimidating the organised labour in the state.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Government insists that the sealing of the NLC Secretariat was for structural integrity evaluation.

Religion / Pastor Begins Sale Of Miracle Pants & Brassieres To Attract Husbands by Upritman(m): 6:51am On Jan 28, 2020
An Abuja-based Nigerian Pastor has reportedly commenced the sale of miracle pants and brassieres to ladies.

The cleric identified as JS Yusuf, who is the Senior Pastor of Touch for Recovery Outreach International, said the move is to help ladies attract husbands.

The set of miracle pants and bras are available for sale in the church premises.

According to the Pastor, the undergarments, which has his face printed on them were provided in order to release marriages in the new year.

He added that ladies wearing them will have “good luck” with men as it will make men look at the ladies on the streets and want to marry them.

The materials are also said to be able to prevent bad diseases while leading the ladies to their husbands.

Yusuf allegedly quoted Numbers 23:20, which says “Behold I have received the commandment to bless; and he hath blessed, and I cannot reverse.”

The selling price for the miracle pants and brassieres cannot be vividly ascertained as at press time.

However, many ladies who believe in the pastoral prowess of the cleric are reportedly patronising him.

It is unclear if the miracle pants and brassieres will achieve the purpose behind its sale.

The move may not be unconnected to delayed marriages and desperation by ladies to get married in Nigeria with crippling economy and opportunities for young men.

Education / My Girlfriend Facing An Extra Year For Refusing To Sleep With A Lecturer by Upritman(m): 11:32am On Jan 24, 2020
I wish to share this sad incident with Nairalanders and seek advice accordingly.
It's a long story but I will hit the nail straight at the head.

My girlfriend after seeing her final year second semester results noticed that one of her results was not released at all.

Sadly enough, it was the course taken by a lecturer who she has consistently resisted all intimidations and attempts to have sex with her.

The said lecturer had threatened to deal with her if he continues to act stubbornly to his unending sexual advances.

But my girlfriend remained stubborn and vowed never to submit to such evil by a man old enough to be her father.

I made several attempts to intervene including using the evidences (recorded calls, chats etc) against the lecturer by escalating the issue but she was scared saying that the lecturers have a protective cabal and would do nothing about the situation.

She had earlier reached out to her H.O.D, Dean and few other lecturers over the issue and for their intervention but they all gave lackadaisical responses with no concrete solution.

I feel saddened that this innocent young girl will get her future delayed by a year.
And we don't know if the lecturer will pass her in this her extra year of not.

She is greatly depressed and terribly angered.
Politics / What Igbos Must Do To Produce The President In 2023 -- Ngige by Upritman(m): 10:55am On Jan 23, 2020
Bittertruth Media

As the clamour for a president from the south-eastern part of Nigeria in 2023 intensifies, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, has advised his people who what they must do to get that long dream realised in the next general elections.

The former governor of Anambra State in an exclusive interview with The Sun highlighted the following conditions;

1. All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) must collapse their party into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

2. Igbo leaders must build political bridges across the country.

3. Ndigbo must be properly integrated into the mainstream politics by identifying with the two major political parties in the country.

4. Ndigbo must lobby other other ethnic groups and must do some political reengineering.

5. Ndigbo must shop for and prepare a credible candidate that will be generally accepted by Nigerians.

“Those who say they are in APGA should collapse and come into the mainstream politics of Nigeria.”

“If APGA wants to help Ndigbo as they pretend or as they mouth or tout, they have to realign and come into the mainstream Nigerian politics. We have to go and reinforce in the two political parties.

There is still time for the Igbo to re-strategise, and we have to start now. That is what I am saying.

“Ndigbo will need to go and resuscitate their firepower; shop for a credible candidate, prepare him the way Zik (Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe) was prepared and blessed when he came back from abroad.

“Baptise the candidate very well, and then present him before other Nigerians. It’s a game of numbers.

We have to court other Nigerians to give us support. You must court them. That is the game.

“You must lobby. You must do some political reengineering. For today, we are not getting it right as Ndigbo.

“If we start today to get it right, it is still on time. Igbo have to identify with the two main political parties.

“They must identify with both. But for now, the party with firepower to win presidency at any given time because of its areas of support in Nigeria federation is the APC.

“So, Ndigbo should join the APC. Some of us are there. We are not stupid to be there. We know what we are doing," Ngige said.

Politics / Why Hope Uzodinma May Unseat Gov.ihedioha Today by Upritman(m): 1:08pm On Jan 13, 2020
Bittertruth Media

Imo State, South-East Nigeria is currently charged with undefined expectations regarding what the verdict of the Supreme Court will be in the petitions against the election of Gov.Emeka Ihedioha.

All three major contenders for the seat of Imo State Governor including Senator Ifeanyi Ararume of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Uche Nwosu of the Action Alliance (AA) and Sen. Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have challenged the declaration of Ihedioha as the governor of Imo State.

While Ihedioha got 273,404 votes to defeat his closest rival, Uche Nwosu of the Action Alliance, AA, who polled 190,364 votes, while Senators Ifeanyi Ararume and Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and All Progressives Congress (APC) got 114, 676 and 96,458 votes respectively.

Before the announcement of the final results, Imo State Governorship election had been turbulent which led to the temporal suspension.

At the announcement of the results, all the major contestants rejected the results and headed for the courts to "reclaim their stolen mandate".

However, all of them eventually lost their petitions both at the Tribunal and Court of Appeal, pending that of the Supreme Court.

Ahead of the much expected judgment on the Imo State case, a lot of intrigues have emerged. These twists may define whether Gov.Emeka Ihedioha will lose or retain his seat of power.

One man who is believed to be a major figure to reclaim his stolen mandate through the apex court is Senator Hope Uzodinma.

Bittertruth Media therefore highlights the chances of the former lawmaker despite coming a distant fourth place in the election.

1. Electoral Irregularities: Irregularities which characterised any electoral process is a huge consideration to nullify the said election. However, in our Nigerian setting, it is always difficult to prove the occurrence of such irregularities across the areas where the elections held. Accordingly, if the lawyers of the petitioner are able to convince the Justices of the Supreme Court that the election was married by substantial irregularities, then the election may be nullified.

2. Inability of Gov.Ihedioha To Meet The Constitutional Requirement of Victory: All the petitioners including Sen.Uzodinma are contending that the declaration of Emeka Ihedioha was wrong since he didn't fulfil the constitutional one quarter of the votes in at least two-thirds of the 27 local government areas of the state, in line with Section 179 of the Constitution. Although the lower courts have dismissed that argument and gave judgment in favour of Gov.Ihedioha, the ruling of the Supreme Court on that issue may go a long way in determining whether Gov.Ihedioha will lose his seat.

3. The God factor: With a huge Christian population, many Nigerians believe in God and the words of his prophets. And if the prophecy of fierce Catholic Priest, Rev.Fr.Ejike Mbaka is anything to go by, then Senator Hope Uzodinma may just be sworn in as the new governor of Imo State.

In his 2020 prophecies, Mbaka had said;

“Those who are attacking the message are just casting Pearl before swine, the holy spirit has said it, and that is final.

“I don’t know how it will happen, but the only thing is that I see hope, joy, and a new government coming in Imo state.

“Even though Ihedioha has won in tribunal and at the Appeal court, that doesn’t mean that he will triumph in supreme Court enough of all this brouhaha!

“What we are doing in adoration here is spiritual, it is not according to our power, it is holy spirit, once he reveals it, we say it.

“Ihedioha and co should go and relax. This is not unprecedented, it happened to Jonathan, Atiku and Peter Obi and after everything, my prophecy came through. You must not be the Governor of Imo state, and you are not better than Hope Uzodinma,” Mbaka said.

If Mbaka's boast that his prophecies never fail is anything to be trusted, then his preferred governor may take over Imo State.

4. Dissenting Judgment in favour of Uzodimma’s Appeal: A sign of hope for Senator Hope Uzodinma is a dissenting judgment that was given in his favour at the Court of Appeal. The judgment was given in a ratio of 4:1.There are precedents where the Supreme Court jettisoned the majority judgment and upheld that of the minority. If the apex court sees through the eyes of the minority judgment and upholds that merit, then Senator Uzodinma may just emerge victorious.

5. The Disqualification Uche Nwosu: The decision of the Supreme Court to nullify the candidature of Action Alliance's Uche Nwosu has obviously brought Senator Uzodinma close to the Imo Seat of Power. Any judgment which spells doom for the appeal of APGA's Ararume may swing favour to the side of Senator Uzodinma.

6. The alleged exclusion of some results: Senator Hope Uzodinma is arguing that if results from 366 polling booths out of the approved 388 where he won are added to the official results, he will have the highest number of votes and emerge as the winner. If the Supreme Court buys into his argument and recalculates the votes, things may just go his way.

Regardless of how the verdict will go, some persons will rejoice while others will weep in disappointment.

However, Imolites must be peaceful and not destabilise the tranquility of their state.

Politics / Members Of Armed Forces Involved In Election Rigging Deserve No Honor - Wike by Upritman(m): 8:07pm On Jan 12, 2020
Bittertruth Media

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has described members of the Nigerian Armed Forces engaged in the snatching of ballot boxes and rigging of elections as non-deserving of honour.

The governor stated this while speaking during an inter-denominational Church Service marking the 2020 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration at the Saint Peter's Anglican Church, Rumuepirikom on Sunday.

Gov.Wike declared that Heaven and Nigerians will never honour those who allow themselves to be used for elections rigging.

A statement by Wike's special assistance on electronic media, Mr.Simeon Nwakaudu quotes the governor as saying;

"We are not honouring those who are unprofessional and carry ballot boxes to influence the electoral process.

"I urge members of the Armed Forces to choose the right path in the interest of the country. It is unfortunate that the military has lost its integrity because of some unprofessional personnel. Nobody is afraid of the military because of their unprofessional conduct.

"Those who come to rig election or kill Rivers people, Heaven will never remember them."

He added that the admission by INEC Chairman that security agencies were responsible for the electoral malpractices that marred the last elections was a direct vindication of his earlier position.

"I thank God that the chairman of INEC has owned up that the problem with elections are the security agencies. This confirms all I have said in the past," he said.

He, however, praised the Armed Forces for the roles they have played in preserving the unity of the country.

"But for them, kidnappers, cultists, insurgents and armed robbers would have taken over the country ", he said.

Highlight of the event was the offering of prayers for the fallen heroes and God's blessing upon their families, offering of prayers for the Government and people of Rivers State, the Federal Government and the Armed Forces as well as praise and worship, with offering to support the Nigerian Legion.

Politics / Mbaka Is A Useless Piece Of Shit, Gov.ihedioha Face Your Work - Charly Boy by Upritman(m): 7:35am On Jan 09, 2020
Bittertruth Media

Popular and controversial Nigerian entertainer, Charles Oputa a.k.a Charly Boy has described fierce Catholic Priest, Rev.Fr.Ejike Mbaka as a "useless piece of shit".

The "Area Father" made this description of the Founder of Adoration Ministry when reacting to his recent political prophecy for the new year 2020 that the Imo State APC Governorship Candidate, Senator Hope Uzodinma will take over from incumbent Governor Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP as the new governor of the state.

The political prophecy of the cleric who boasts that his prophecies never fail have been greeted with mixed reactions by Nigerians.

In a similar reaction, Charly Boy who obviously seems not to believe in the prophecy by the Catholic Priest, urged Gov.Ihedioha to remain focused and face his work in Imo State.

Charly Boy's reaction was contained in a short video he shared on this social media page.

Education / We Have Unbundled Mass Communication Into 7 Separate Courses -- NUC by Upritman(m): 6:41am On Jan 09, 2020
Bittertruth Media

National Universities Commission (NUC) has revealed that it has unbundled Mass Communication into seven separate degree programmes to meet present demand and this takes effect from 2020 admissions into Nigerian universities.

Bittertruth Media gathered that the seven new courses included Journalism & Media Studies, Public Relations, Advertising, Broadcasting, Film & Multi-Media Studies, Development Communication Studies, Information & Media Studies.

The new separate courses will be domiciled in a Faculty / School / College of Communication and Media Studies.

This was confirmed by NUC’s Executive Secretary, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, while briefing newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.

In his words: “We have almost concluded the unbundling of Mass Communication. At the end of first quarter of (2020), Mass Communication will not be existing as a stand-alone degree programme because it is too wide.

“We are unbundling the programme into seven different programmes: Bachelors Degrees in Public Relations, Marketing Communications, Media studies, Film Studies, Cinematography or Photography, Strategic Communication, and so many others.

“This is in line with trends all over the world. We will retain the Mass Communication for those universities that have not yet developed the full competencies in the areas.”

This move by the NUC followed the presentation of the new communication curricula by professors, professionals and practitioners of communication in Nigeria.

This approval has resulted in the emergence of seven degree-awarding programmes and the phasing out of the single BSc/BA Degree Programme in Mass Communication currently offered in different Faculties in different universities.
