Hi All,

HiTV Lights up Cable Television in April

CELEBRATION this April will be double for people especially subscribers of cable television, HiTV, as it prepares to bring smiles to homes through its enriched programmes.

On HiTV’s Hi Mix this April, an impressive list of shows and series have been lined up. The action begins on Thursday, April 2 with the comedy series entitled All of Us which would air on Monday and Thursday in April beginning from 7pm.

The series is inspired by the domestic lives of celebrities Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith. The family comedy reflects a new generation's enlightened attitude towards those who juggle ex-spouses, dating and professional lives.

Robert James, an entertainment reporter for a local Los Angeles television station, is handsome, smart and thoroughly modern in his thinking. Recently divorced from the somewhat self-absorbed Neesee, the mother of their endearing 6-year-old son, Robert refuses to buy into the old stereotype that being divorced means you can't get along with the ex.

Another comedy series entitled Jpod will throughout April (every Tuesday at 7pm), delight viewers. Douglas Coupland's bestselling novel is adapted for the small screen by two top Canadian writers. The show revolves around a group of video game programmers whose last names all begin with "J". It is a hilarious series starring David Kopp, Steph Song, and Sherry Miller among others.

A drama Sci-fi, Smallville, that tells the tale of a teenage Clark Kent in the days before he was Superman will be on show from Monday through Friday in April. Clark must deal with a variety of individuals given powers by the green rocks, keep his powers a secret, and cope with his friendship with a young Lex Luthor. It stars Tom Welling and Allison Mack.

For lovers of Harry Porter movies, April 5 at 9pm is a date with one of its most adventurous entitled Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
When Harry Potter's name emerges from the Goblet of fire, he becomes a competitor in a gruelling battle for glory among three wizardry schools- the Triwizard Tournament. But since Harry never submitted his name for the tournament, Who Did?
Find out more revealing secrets in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets which airs on April 12 at 9pm.
Just when viewers are still gasping from the sweet tension of Harry Porter and The Chamber of Secrets, another in the series, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, has been planned to complete the total fun. It airs on April 19 at 9pm.

Pacy action sci-fi movie entitled The Island is scheduled to hold the viewer of Hi Mix channel hostage on April 26 at 9pm. The plot of the movie revolves round Lincoln Six-Echo, who is a resident of a seemingly Utopian but contained facility in the mid 21st century. Like all of the inhabitants of this carefully controlled environment, Lincoln hopes to be chosen to go to the "The Island" - reportedly the last uncontaminated spot on the planet. But Lincoln soon discovers that everything about his existence is a lie.

With a long holiday in line this April to celebrate the Easter, the kids won’t have a dull moments as they watch Hi Kids’s Super 7 every 7pm daily. Super 7, the exclusive daily 7:00pm film-hour on Hi Kids will be launched in April. Viewers can watch animated films on Hi Kids everyday at 7:00pm. Also, Hi Kids & Friends, planned for April a tour of selected schools alongside other friends (Mimee, Ribena, Virgin Color drinks). Various primary and secondary schools in Lagos State will thus play host to the Hi kids and Friends team. It will be an opportunity for the individual schools to showcase the school’s creative and artistic talents and an equal opportunity for Hi Kids to present the channel’s programs to its first clients (the children).

On Hi Life channel, the fun continues with Family Court with Judge Penny. It is
syndicated TV series that focuses on Judge Penny Brown Reynolds as she presides over cases involving custody disputes and arguments between couples and parents.

In Hard Out, also showing on Hi Life, it appears skateboards Jeff and Noodle are the only ones in Middletown that are aware that aliens live in their hometown. Together they must join forces to save their skate park from demolition.

It what appears to be a rain of exciting programmes on Hi Life, the over sized people need not worry as they would find out a way to slim down in Downsize Me.

It is a TV3's ultimate weight loss series which guarantees a super-sized serving of sweat, tears and sensational results as diet guru Damian Kristof and straight-talking trainer Lee-Anne Wann help overweight New Zealanders to get on the path to lifelong good health in only two months. The results are astounding!

Then the one that would draw much attention is X2D. Reputed to be Nigeria’s first comprehensive contemporary Christian creative and lifestyle TV show, it airs on the Hi Life channel everyday at. It features interviews, artiste profile, events coverage, song sampling, photo reel, Sing Africa, Viewers Reel, Loud & Alive, X2D top five videos and the flagship programme presented by a young and vibrant Vee-jay, Tee Pee.

Looking for a good read this April? Then turn to Hi Mag and you will get the details of the HiTV second anniversary dinner held at the Civic Centre, Lagos. The frills, thrills, all in colour in Hi Mag.

It was a day of fulfilment and reflection for the satellite platform that began operation with about 10 channels in 2007 now has 26 channels and 197,000+ subscribers later. HiTV took time to show appreciation to the subscribers and dealers who have been with them from the very beginning.
If you are looking for five places across the country to say Hi this April, Hi Mag provides that information too. Okay then, you may want to find out what makes the Nigerian movie industry otherwise called Nollywood tick? It is in bold print in Hi Mag even as one of its biggest players, Tade Ogidan is ‘stripped’ bare for the reader to see his all sides.

Do you know that Ogidan, producer of widely acclaimed Dangerous Twins is a graduate of Radio, TV, Film and Theatre Arts, from the United States, who worked at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) from 1982 to 1990? Find out more about this Nollywood icon in Hi Mag this April.

So, check out what U K based Nigerian female comic Jocelyn Jee Esien, is doing at present. Born March 2, 1979 in Hackney-London, Jocelyn Jee Esien is an English comedian of Nigerian origin. Hi Mag reveals more about this female comic.

What many people do not know about Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, winner of 2008 MTN Project Fame talent hunt, is some pages away in Hi Mag this April.
What will particularly blow the reader away is the cover story on the game of snooker. Entitled Cue Sports: The Re-birth, the story attempts to trace the origin of the game.

Hi Mag has a special focus on Spanish Primera Liga Club Focus: Barcelona, in its Club Focus segment. It is a revealing read for fans and non fans of the club that boasts of players such as Eto, Lionel Messi among others.
The Hi Nolly channel on HiTV is on fire again in the month of April as the Nollywood movie entitled Coincidence (I and II) takes centre screen. Billed for airing on Friday, April 3 at 9:00pm, the flick that features Oge Okoye, Nonso Ndiobi revolves around Mary (Oge Okoye) and Kingsley (Nonso Ndiobi). They are both in Love but their parents are vehemently against the affair, especially Mary’s mother who will go to any length to see them apart.
On Saturday, April 4 at 10:00PM, the whole plot would be unravelled in a sequel to the movie a day earlier entitled Final Coincidence 1&2. What becomes of the affair between Mary and Kingsley will be known.

On Wednesday, April 15 at 9:00, a young musician’s dream will lead him into the fantasy world of lavishness in Lords of The Game (I and II). The strict and disciplinary attitude of the father made him join a gang of callous criminals.

Let’s find out what happens in a chicken republic in a movie of the same title on Sunday, April 26 at 10:00pm
If you are curious mind, then HiTV’s Discovery World is the right antidote to your curiosity ‘ailment’. It broadens the knowledge of the viewer about issues and events all around the world. For thriller and crime flick lovers, the revelation of the motives of killers and unravelling of heinous crimes by Forensic investigators, the FBI and local police is eye-opening. Throughout April, a load of episodes that will pop the eye out has been planned. It will keep one on the couch for hours.

Hi All,

‘How HiTV Achieved High Picture Quality’

Subscribers of wholly Nigerian satellite programmes distribution outfit, HiTV, woke up last week to a pleasant surprise when they discovered that they can now enjoy television viewing with the highest picture quality this part of the world. This development is a confirmation of the word of the founder and chief executive, Toyin Subair, during the outfit’s second year anniversary last month.

A visibly elated Mr. Olumide Amure, Chief Operating Officer, HiTV, in this interview reveals how HiTV achieved this feat even as he assured that there are more surprises for the subscribers. Excerpts.

BECAUSE of our commitment to giving our subscribers a relaxing and enjoyable viewing experience, we have improved the video quality of our channels by procuring additional bandwidth for our use and so we are now able to broadcast clearer channels. We have also continued to acquire more movies for both Hi Mix and Hi Kids as well as Hi Nolly and you can now watch new movies at 9pm every Sunday on Hi Mix and from April, children movies every day at 7pm on Hi Kids.
It’s been rumoured that HiTv has acquired two transponders, when was that?
We acquired an additional transponder space in March to achieve the increase to two transponders.
Subscribers have been saying their HiTv decoders went off over the weekend, what was the cause of that and what is being done to resolve the issue?

In the process of improving the video quality of the channels, the channels had to be re-arranged and the effect of this was the ‘scrambled channel’ observed by several subscribers on their decoders. Not all subscribers were however affected as all those with decoder software versions 2.0.7 and above were not affected. Those affected however only need to re-scan their decoders to continue receiving and enjoying their channels. We have also gone ahead to upgrade as many subscribers’ decoders as possible and this remains an ongoing process. We advise all subscribers to endeavour to upgrade to the latest software version. They can contact us directly or contact their nearest dealer for the upgrade.

The re-scanning procedures for decoders for the benefit of those who do not understand it, is quite easy. For a Strong decoder, all the subscriber need to do is press Menu on the Remote Control, scroll down to channels and click OK. Enter Pin-0000, Scroll down to delete channels and press OK. Press info on your remote control to delete all channels, it is quite easy and by the way, three weeks before the exercise, we have been scrolling the procedures on our screens in all channels. But we understand sometimes that most people do not pay attention to such notices until something goes wrong. But there is a campaign on now to educate people in the media about the rescanning operation.

HiTV just celebrated its 2nd year anniversary with the giving out of two Geely cars to two lucky subscribers, how does it make you feel?
It was indeed a great feeling of excitement to see the happy faces of the winners-Mr Chuks Nwandulu and Mr Ian Randolph as we presented the Geely cars to them. HiTV considers it a great privilege to be in a position to reward our customers with gifts that make their lives better.

We appreciate the thousands of Nigerians that came all out to support us in the last two years and we will like to tell them “it’s Payback Time! We intend to give out more cars and other gifts to those who are active on the network between now and end of September. We will have draws every month so this is a good time for customers to ensure that they are up-to-date with their subscription payment and also for those who have been postponing getting HiTV to do so. They may just be the next winner of a brand new Geely CK11 car.
Subscribers were amazed that HiTv got ANIMAX channel, reputed to be the first outfit in Africa to acquire it, how did it happen?

Our commitment to our subscribers continues to drive us to develop relationships that will guarantee our ability to deliver on our promise. The Animax channel is a product of our relationship with Sony, one of the most comprehensive entertainment companies in the world. Sony Entertainment Television (SET) is a product of the same relationship. Subscribers should be on the lookout for more exciting and relevant channels in the near future.
What new changes are we looking forward to in the near future?
A lot more thrills and excitement are in the pipeline. It is just a matter of time, little time.

We currently have 27 channels, and out of those, only five channels speak to the sport genre. We have three channels dedicated to Kids, four dedicated to News, one documentary channel, three Religious channels, three movie channels, three Music Channels two lifestyle channels and we even have 1 channel dedicated to the Yoruba audience-Amuludun. (State channels). We are celebrating these other channels so that Nigerians know what they stand to enjoy when they come on the HiTV platform.

Our subscribers and dealers alike are an integral part of our business; that is why their satisfaction and value for their money make us work hard to giving them quality service. We are also expanding rapidly, opening friendship centres in partnership with our distributors so we can be closer to our customers and offer them a much higher level of service. We have already opened one in Kano and several more will be opened within the next few months. We also now have a more robust subscriber management system that has greatly improved our processes and removed a lot of the challenges we faced in the past. Our new office in Ikeja (Lagos) will be open to the public shortly and the location comes with ample space to serve our customers better. We are also on the verge of hitting our 200,000 subscriber mark after only two years of commercial existence and this goes to show the confidence Nigerians have in our service as they continue to acquire it.

“We are moving from being a start up to a full operational company. Whilst we were expected to out-perform a foreign owned, financed and run 15 year plus business on day one, we have worked very hard to do this in the last 18 months and are very proud of ourselves as a 100 per cent Nigerian staffed, run and financed business. The young brilliant Nigerians who work and run HiTV are all future leaders of this great country!
