Ioannes: hmmm... I would rather say he has the power to do ALMOST anything he likes.
don't forget he is also bound by the laws and traditions of Yorubaland.
he can't just do anything he likes o.
there are also punishments for kings who flagrantly flout the laws of the land. if not punished by the gods, then by the council of chiefs as is the case of old Oyo empire. Of course, the Oyomesi can impeach an Alaafin, but an Alaafin is more like a political head while the Ooni is more of a spiritual one at the end of the day, it's the gods that will handle his case if he defaults. I love what he's doing though, if the Yoruba nation can end up speaking with one voice as a result of this, he will be forever remembered. |

kenzysmith: Only in this country that whole king of a kingdom number one king of the west for that matter will pay a visit to a mere man a criminal for that matter tinubu well done sir u re living up to the name Jagaban respect sir Over the years, there has always been a thin line between spiritual and political institutions in Yoruba land. For example, Awolowo practically dragged and supported Ooni Sijuade to the throne, don't forget that the previous Ooni before him Ooni Aderemi was also a close ally of Awolowo. It's nothing new if you are a keen student of Yoruba history. |

Ioannes: I'm not sure I like this. shouldn't it be the other way around?
I hope he is not trivialising the stool of the great oonirisa.
visiting private citizens should be out of it. an invitation could be extended to them to visit him in the palace. You have a point but you must also understand that he's a paramount ruler, the spiritual head of the Yoruba nation , he has the power to do anything he likes. |

QuantAnalyst: Dear Nairalanders,
I bring my humble self to thee like a child in need would.
After few years of working and studying abroad, I'm finally home. And indeed there is no place like home!
Yes! home is sweet and I am very happy to be back to my love ones, friends, and even foes that I cherish nonetheless.
However, I am writing this in a perturbed state of mind. The reality of unemployment is making me increasingly apprehensive.
I've got skills, experience, and qualifications to magnetize that dream job, but it seems like there is none in the haystack.
This write-up is intent on getting a job through Nairalanders be it directly or indirectly.
I am aware that some Nairalanders are in a position to recruit in their individual organisations. Some are also highly placed in the corporate world and as such have access to privy information that could open employment doors and annihilate the shackles of unemployment in one's life.
So, once again, I bring my humble self to thee as I am in need of a job.
Without spilling much information, I present to us a little about me:
Age: Mid Twenties.
Qualifications:
MSc.Financial Mathematics(Abroad),
BSc. Mathematics(Nigeria) First Class
Work Experience: Financial Analyst (Abroad), and Assistant Accountant (Abroad).
Technical Skills: Excel, VBA, SQL, R, MatLab, Python, Oracle, Access, Word, and PowerPoint.
Other Skills: Numeracy, Analytical, Interpersonal, and Good Communication skills both verbal and oral.
Other information is available upon request including details of my job experience and specific competencies.
All I need is an interview to prove my mettle and I won't disappoint you. Thanks you all.

Moderator: uboma, davide470, Lalasticlala, and Seun, please do the needful...Thanks. Geez, you have all these and you haven't applied to KPMG? Common man apply straight away, if you impress, you will be working there within the next couple of months. |

tosinhtml: If you don't know how to code and you have a great idea. So why don't you just go over to Elance or Devcenter and pay someone to implement your idea.
Why wait for partnership? Or are you not convinced about the idea yourself?
As a matter of fact, good developers already have tons of personal/side projects they work on. So even if you find someone to apply for your idea, you should be curious why this developer isn't too busy already. (Just being honest with you ) Thanks for this. |

bababode825: I guess the problem you have is that you think everyone is the same. I hope this mentality of yours changes as it could harm your chances of getting opportunities later in life. Just saying ROFLMFAO! Ideas are a dime a dozen, in tech you can only bring two things to the table, finance and knowledge, but that's too little for you to understand you're more of an expert in "getting opportunities later in life". |

Ioannes: actually only a low IQ person will be bambozzled by the supposed facts and figures which we all know were written by some yeye analyst in an office in New York, who probably doesn't even know where Nigeria is on the world map.
if she did so well why are there more Nigerian youths unemployed than ever before, so much so that even tanoids and wailers are waiting anxiously for Baba's promise of #5,000 for their jobless ass*?
if she did so well, why are we uncovering monumental corruption in almost every sector of our economy which she obviously mismanaged?
if she did so well where is the money she saved from selling crude oil at $120/barrel for years?
giving express or tacit support for evil is the same as sharing in the evil and its consequences. Good questions! Thank you Sir! |

lawyer: Hope you can spot the difference. One is sitting comfortably with flowing Agbada without handcuffs for stealing BILLIONS while the other is humiliated with handcuffs for chewing his own statement. This Buhari's war against corruption get as e be o! People from the North accused for corruption seem to get Dubai luxury hotel prison treatment while SS/SE suspects are given the " crime fighter TV show" treatment. Corruption has no tribe or party o!
Meanwhile just curious how come no Yoruba politician has been arraigned, detained or Arrested for corruption under this Buhari administration? Does it mean only the SS/SE and some Northerners are the only crooks in Nigeria? If this is not a definition of a selective witch hunt, I don't know what else to call it. For years you've always commented as a very brilliant lawyer but today by your own standards, you don fall hand. Olisa Metuh was brought to the premises by prison officials while Yerima was brought by ICPC folks, it's simple logic not rocket science. See the attached picture that was the first time he was arraigned by EFCC, can you see the difference? Stay away from the politics section, nothing kills brain cells faster than it.

cold: Sigh..it's still the typical talakawa vs Dan-Arewa mentality playing out in the north. The serfs vs the fiefs. Where the economic and political ideas of a few ruling Northern political elites, apotheosized aristocrats and their cheapened reactionary counterparts in the army hold sway. Their proclivity to oppress the talakas, tenacity to hold on to power, defend their interest and impose a patterned way of thinking on their surbodinates. When you throw in the predominant Islamic faith practiced by majority in the north, the strangle hold becomes complete. Brilliant! Lovely! *stands up and claps* Someone on NL has finally captured what the Northern oligarchy entails in beautiful words. |

theshadyexpress: Stop trying to appeal to sentiments, the fact that innocent lives were lost and many others displaced does not mean the scam allegations are real, if in doubt tell EFCC to tender that as an evidence in court. This is why I see this whole thing as a sham and a media trial, all APC wanna do is appeal to the sentiments of nigerians and use that as an excuse to haunt perceived enemies.
Guy wise up, you are acting according to a pre-written script. I hope e go clear for your eye soonest Sham and media trail and people have been charged to court? Why not hold your peace till the court passes its verdict. The good thing about logic is that you can never turn it on its head. |
