BIG BROTHER AMPLIFIED, That’s what M-Net is calling the new season of the hit super show which will kick off on DStv channel 198 on Sunday May 1. Running 91 days and 24/7 with a dream grand prize of USD 200 000, the sixth season of Africa’s biggest reality show will include more of the drama, the emotion, the excitement and the suspense that have made the series a firm fan favourite.

And it’s all going to be AMPLIFIED!

So says M-Net Africa Managing Director Biola Alabi who heads up the channel’s initiatives across the continent. “By definition amplified means to increase the volume, to make louder, to make more powerful. And that’s exactly what we want to do with season six. To take the elements that audiences find so fantastic and present them in a refreshing new way while adding big surprises and entertaining twists. Amplified is such a well-known pop culture term and Big Brother has definitely become a pop culture success. So the name fits perfectly.”

With a dramatic new eye, etched in a carbon fibre background with an edgy, futuristic feeling and with a sophisticated polished reflective finish, the newly unveiled show logo sets the scene for a bold new season!

With the deadline for entries now closed and the next phase of selection now well under way to choose housemates from the 14 participating countries (Angola, Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe), BIG BROTHER AMPLIFIED is on track to launch in little over a month!

One of the two brothers convicted over the killing of schoolboy Damilola Taylor has been returned to jail, sources confirmed.

Ricky Preddie, jailed for eight years in 2006 for the manslaughter of the 10-year-old, was sent back to jail after breaking the conditions of his release, it has been reported.

It is understood he was arrested on Friday evening and returned to a south London prison after being seen in Southwark, south London, and associating with gang members.

Harry Fletcher, assistant general secretary of the probation union Napo, said Preddie was ordered to live at a probation hostel on his release from prison last September after serving two-thirds of his sentence.

"Other conditions included being of good behaviour, a night-time curfew and a geographical exclusion zone," he said. "It is understood he allegedly breached the exclusion zone on Friday evening and as a consequence was recalled to custody under emergency procedures."

Richard Taylor, Damilola's father, was said to be "deeply upset and disturbed" by the news that Preddie has been returned to jail.

A Ministry of Justice spokesman said: "All offenders subject to probation supervision on release from prison have to adhere to a set of strict conditions. They are subject to recall to custody if they breach their conditions or their behaviour indicates that it is no longer safe for them or for the public if they remain in the community.

"Once an offender has been recalled by the probation service it is then for the police to return them to custody."

Damilola's death in November 2000 shocked the nation. He had moved to Britain from Nigeria a few months before he was jabbed in the thigh with a broken beer bottle by a gang of youths as he walked home from the local library after school.

Preddie, and his brother Danny, were convicted of manslaughter and jailed for eight years in October 2006.

The president of a village team in France has been suspended for six months for trying to sign Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.

Cedric Enjolras, the president of FC Borne, who play in the second division of the Haute-Loire district league and represent a village of just 400 people, hatched the plan over what was said to be a "well-oiled" dinner with friends.

He then submitted a formal transfer offer for Messi with the French Football Federation and asked them to forward it on to the Spanish champions and the Spanish Football Federation.

However, the FFF did not see the humour in the stunt and after two separate disciplinary hearings, they decided to suspend Enjolras for six months.

"It may be a joke but we are there to judge and deal with legitimate transfers."

Enjolras replied by saying he was disappointed the FFF did not have more of a sense of humour about the incident.

i dont think dstv mobile will ever work on phone without Symbian OS 9.3, Series 60 v3.2 UI or higher operating system, n73 was just lucky.
