tritt:
After several months of blaming the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for the current state of Nigeria’s economy, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has accepted responsibility.
The APC also promised to fix the problems.

The APC’s position was stated by Governor Rochas Okorocha who briefed journalists after a meeting between the party’s governors and President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

johnca:
Before the Land-Use Act in 1978 was enacted, Traditional families who had so much land power under their control benefited from taking pleasure over all the rights given to the land owners. Because of this mega-power they wielded with land, they gave out lands to individuals under a tenancy system for them to use the land either for fishing or farming while they still maintained control over the portion of the land given to the individual. It wasn’t until the creation of Lagos Executive Development Board in the 1950s that individuals where now able to acquire land from the board directly in exchange for a sum of money instead of going to meet the traditional families to obtain land. This led to the Traditional Families now
splitting their lands to keep some for the family use and others for sale to individuals directly to compete with the Lagos Executive Development. This system still made the Traditional Families total top dogs in exercising exclusive rights with lands they chose to sell and the ones they chose to keep. This eventually led to the birth of land speculation in Nigeria because lands were very expensive to purchase and difficult to obtain. Because of this and other ancillary reasons, it finally led to the promulgation of the Land Use Decree on the 28th of March, 1978 that vested all lands in every state of the Federation under the control of the State Governors. People could now directly obtain land from the Governor and the Governor could allocate land to the individual or Companies inquiring about land and issue certificate of occupancy to these people it has allocated land to.

The land use act coupled with other laws made it possible for the Governor who was now the owner of all lands in the state to actually have the power to acquire more lands compulsorily for its own public purpose to provide Amenities for the greater good of the citizens. The Acquisition of land from the Family by the Governor who is now the custodian of all lands in the state was now empowered by the Land Use Act to take the general control and management of all URBAN land and any area designated as an Urban area by the Governor shall be published in an Official Government Record book known as the Gazette. Any area, community or village the Governor designates as an Urban Area is an Acquired land and the rest of the land it has not Acquired may be given back to the community it was acquired from in the form of an Excision. “An Excision means basically taking a part from a whole and that part that has been excised will be recorded and documented in the official government gazette of that state.” So for example if in 1981, Victoria Island, Ikoyi and Lekki were all part of one big Community joined together called Oniru and it had no separation to know which area is called ikoyi, Lekki or V.I then and it has an approximate total area square meters estimate of 100,000 square meters and the Government is interested in that area and decides to take 70,000 square meters for its self for its own personal use as an Urban Area or public purpose, it will record this acquisition in the official government gazette and also record that the remaining 30,000 square meters has been left alone for the traditional family to have and do with it whatever it pleases it to do. This is the sweet relationship between a land under acquisition, an excision and gazette.

A gazette is an official record book where all special government details are spelt out, detailed and recorded. A gazette will show the communities or villages that have been granted excision and the number of acres or hectares of land that the government has given to them. It is within those excised acres or hectares that the traditional family is entitled to sell its lands to the public and not anything outside those hectares of land given or excised to them. If they decide to sell anything outside the excised land, then that land is under acquisition by the government and it is a very bad land to buy.

Special Features of a Gazette include the following:

The first page of a Gazette must have the following unless it is a dubious or fake Gazette
a. The Logo of the Country and the inscription of the title “LAGOS STATE OF NIGERIA OFFICIAL GAZETTE”
b. Underneath it must have the Number, Volume, Page, Date and the Location it was signed into law e.g. No 26 in pages 200 to 291, Volume 87 dated 14th of August 2011 and have the contents of the list of the Villages, Settlements and parcels of land excised back to the community.
The Inner pages will show the following:
a. the description of the Area or Village excised
b. The number of Acres or Hectares of land excised to the Village
c. Where the boundaries of the beacons start and stop
d. The page the description of the Village excised.
A Gazette is a very powerful instrument the community owns and can replace a Certificate of Occupancy to grant title to the Villagers. A community owning a gazette can only sell lands to an individual within those lands that have been excised to them and the community or family head of that land has the right to sign your documents for you if you purchase lands within those excised acres or hectares of land. If the government based on some reasons best known to them decides to revoke or acquire your land, you will be entitled to compensation as long as it’s within the Excised lands given to that community.
The best way to know whether a land is under acquisition or has an excision that has been covered by a Gazette is to get a surveyor to chart the site and take it to the surveyor general’s office to do a land information to confirm whether it falls within the gazette and spell out which particular location it can be found.

ASUU urges Nigerians to prepare for ‘revolutionary change’
By Dele Ogunyemi, Ibadan | Publish Date: Nov 2 2016 5:35PM
(1 Likes)

Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has urged Nigerians to be ready for what it called a real revolutionary change, just as it described the change mantra of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as mere "cosmetics change."

At a Public Lecture and Distinguished Service Award held inside the Trenchard Hall of the University of Ibadan on Wednesday themed "Good Governance: A Surgical Strike against Economic Recession", the President of ASUU, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, lamented that the Nigerian ruling class seemed not to have a template for governance or development.

"As long as that continues, we'll be regressing and not progressing. For those that are calling themselves progressives, we are yet to see the progress the progressives are building," he further remarked.

The ASUU President who was the guest of honour at the event organised by the UI Chapter of the union announced that the Academic Staff Union was ready to educate Nigerians on the development while challenging the populace to "stand up and take their future in their hands in a courageous and real revolutionary change, to be led by ASUU, which is set start from the walls of Nigerian universities".

Specifically, he stated that ASUU was ready to "engage the Nigerian state for many issues that affect us on good governance, especially to develop Nigeria and what is required to do so".

Addressing the teeming lecturers at the event, the ASUU President declared:

"Nigeria is our pride. In the diversity lies our strength and in unity lies the basis of our struggle.

"Comrades, ASUU is not pleased with what is happening today for at least three reasons. In the first place, as a union of intellectuals, we cannot stay aloof; We cannot watch helplessly while the ruling class continuing in its act of displacement of the country.

"What has happened in this country in the last 10 years or so should be enough to transform this country if not to another Japan, but at least maybe to another Malaysia or Singapore. But unlike Malaysia or Singapore, what was sold to us is Washington consensus. I am sure my colleagues will talk more about it.

"And that was what produced Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP). What we're having now is SAP in another form. Somebody came up and said I will not devalue the naira, what is happening to the Naira today? Free fall. Somebody said I will increase the price of petroleum, what is happening now? The price is almost doubled! And it is not impossible that in another few months, if we don't put our acts together, I insisted, in another couple of months, we will just wake up and see that the price of pump price will be swayed.

"Is this the kind of change you asked for? A change without transformation, is this the change you asked for?

"Nigerians asked for change, Nigerians did not ask for second enslavement. Did we? That is why we must be interested in what is happening in Nigeria.

"It's like the Nigerian ruling class do not have a template for governance or development. As long as that continues, we'll be regressing and not progressing.

"For those that are calling themselves progressives, we are yet to see the progress the progressives are building.

"Freedom is not a free gift. It must be fought for. It's not a free gift. There is no nation that enjoys freedom without fighting for it and grows.

"Nigerians, we have not ask for our freedom, if that must happen, the change they're talking about must start from our campus.

"We must sow the seed of that change, the correct change. The change they are talking about is cosmetics. We are talking about revolutionary change. Are we prepared for that? We need to guard our loins, ASUU as a union is committed into doing that."

The Guest lecturer at the event, Dr. Biodun Adedipe, a management and financial consulta

Christianity Etc › Re: Please What Does The Bible Mean By "vain Repititions" Matthew 6:7? by uvalued(m): 2:47am On Nov 01, 2016
this verse also disturbed me . but this answers it quite nicely and neatly
Jimmy Akin, Catholic author and apologist, explains the vain repetition of pagan prayer similarly, but also reminds us that the pagan gods did not know what people wanted before asking, whereas the Jewish/Christian God "knows what you need before you ask." He further notes that Jesus, at other times, praises repetition in prayer (e.g., the parable of the unjust judge).

It is therefore the attitude towards and perception of God that Jesus condemns. Again, the pagan attitude is one of gods who are oblivious to our needs, and prayer as a formulaic key to unlock the gods' power.

AND

"Effectual fervent prayer" does not count the amount of speech or number of repetitions used, rather it trusts in being rightly related to a personal God who hears and answers prayer.

Jesus's admonitions are to believers to pray "as if God were listening to every word you say", therefore "much speaking" isn't going to make Him hear you any better, believing will.

Car Talk › Re: 5 Things You Shouldn’t Do When Driving A Manual Car. by uvalued(m): 5:09am On Oct 28, 2016
milestonejnr:
SOURCE: http://nolongtalk.com/driving-manual-wrongly-5-things-shouldnt-driving-manual-car/

As it stands now and with the current trend in car technology, majority of drivers will give you 1001 reasons why automatic cars are better than manual cars. However, there are different strokes for different folks; some petrol heads still stick to the good old manual transmission. They just want to be in control. I’m one of them.

You may have been unintentionally messing up your transmission with the way you handle it. Be it as it may, I’m here to help you in my own little way.

Relax, read, assimilate and put it to practice.

Here are 5 things you shouldn’t do if you drive manual transmission.

#1. Do not leave your car in gear when you have no intention to move.

You might be wondering why on earth you shouldn’t do this. It is very simple.

It is bad to do so because when you leave it engaged in a gear, your clutch will suffer from unnecessary wear and tear.

When the clutch is depressed, three main parts of the clutch press against the other – the spring, the bearing, and the diaphragm. This will gradually wear out.

So, next time you’re warming your car, at the stop light, have no intention of moving ASAP when the engine is cranked, just move the gear lever to the Neutral position in order not to overwork or stress your clutch.

#2. Do not rest you hand don the gear lever.

All those times you have been forming gangster, cruising your car with one arm on the steering and the other comfortably resting on the lever, you have been getting it all wrong.

This one is particularly a bit surprising, but it is true. It is bad.

The weight of your arm can actually cause the parts responsible for gear shifting to rub against each other. This wears out your selector fork (transaxle shift forks). This on the long run might make your car start jumping out of gear.

Do your gear shift and take back your hand back to the steering wheel. It is also a good driving habit to leave both hands on the wheel for proper control.

#3. Do not floor you throttle/gas pedal when your engine is at low RPM.

Behind the scene, a lot is happening in a manual transmission. Flooring your throttle at a low RPM is unhealthy to the engine. By so doing, you tell the engine to accelerate as hard as it can. This brings much stress to the engine; it makes the engine work really hard.

Instead of flooring the throttle at a very low RPM, just downshift – move to a lower gear.

#4. Do not use the clutch to hold your car on a hill.

I have heard many people call this ‘clutch engagement’. I don’t know how it came to be anyway.

This is the habit of using the clutch and throttle simultaneously so it could act as brake to avoid rolling back when in a hilly terrain.

When you do this, you are actually burning out the friction material on your clutch disk. Avoid this.

Use the conventional break and the handbrake (E-brake) in worst case scenarios.

#5. Do not rest your foot on the clutch.

This makes your clutch not to be fully engaged. It causes wearing out of the clutch. It might also cause you car not to putting down full engine power.

Good luck and shift safely!

Omonigeriarere:
Can you show me the section of Nigerian constitution that specifically mentioned WAEC Certificate as the only requirement(s) for the Office of Presidency? In my own opinion, this is not an issue.

In Section 318(1) of the said constitution, it becomes crystal clear, upon a careful reading of the said Interpretation Section, that even persons whose educational qualifications are below the Secondary School Leaving Certificate/level and its equivalent are still qualified to contest election, if they possess the Primary Six School Leaving Certificate or its equivalent along with the other requirements listed under the said definition Section (Section 318(1)).

For the avoidance of doubt, Section 318(1) provides:

“School Certificate or its equivalent” means -

(a) A Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent, or Grade II Teacher’s Certificate, the City and Guilds Certificate; or

(b) Education up to Secondary School Certificate level; or

(c) Primary Six School Leaving Certificate or its equivalent and-

(i) service in the public or private sector in the Federation in any capacity acceptable to the Independent National Electoral Commission for a minimum of ten years, and

(ii) attendance at courses and training in such institutions as may be acceptable to the Independent National Electoral Commission for periods totaling up to a minimum of one year, and

(iii) The ability to read, write, understand and communicate in the English language to the satisfaction of the Independent National Electoral Commission; and

(d) Any other qualification acceptable by the Independent National Electoral Commission;”
you have valid points according to constitution but my problem is why claim you have something when you dont have... if he claimed simply that he can read and write english that will be ok.. but claiming you have waec certificate under oath when there was none is perjury and a criminal offence ad hence corrupion

Before we even start discussing, I have just 7 questions.[/size]

1)Where is all the Subsidy savings?? Jonathan was said to have been paying hundreds of billions on subsidy. In 2013(N900 bILLION +). There is supposed to be no more subsidy since the new price of N145. So where are all the subsidy savings?

2) Where is all the corruption savings? Since the previous government is accused of being terribly corrupt, and it is said that this government is corruption free, where are all the savings that should accrue from the new corruption free system?

3) Where is all the recovered loot? Why are we borrowing $10billion for reccurents when the government has boasted of recovered funds of $9 billion?

4) Where is all that 3 Trillion said to be locked up in the TSA account. Abi is the account under lock and key?

5) This government has borrowed N2.2 Trillion in the last one year. Where is that money, what was it used for and who was it given to.

6) The N9.6 Trillion in question, who are you borrowing it from. What are you using as surety. You aren't even certain anybody will give that money so why are you making plans deceiving yourself about it?

7) Finally, what the heck is your payment plan. Already we are paying almost 1 trillion for debt servicing on the meagre debt we have. If you add a gargantuan 9.6 Trillion, who is going today for that?

Buhari doesn't care because when the country crumbles he'll be too old or gone to face the consequences.

My gut feeling tells me the greatest heist in the history of Nigeria is currently going on right now under our very nostrils and except we start asking the right questions, we would not have a country to call ours in a few years from now.

In one of our training sessions,my mentor collected a Nokia torch hand set with fully charged battery. He brought a fresh egg. Then he puts the egg and the handset together and place them into a polythene bag. He tied the bag and told us to call the phone number..... Calling....calling.. ..busy.. busy.
When the battery is drained down, he gave the phone to the owner and cracked the egg.
Behold the egg was cooked!!.. done!!!. We were surprised and asked for the explanation. He told us that every handset emits electromagnetic rays. That it was the rays that was responsible for cooking of that egg. He also said that for device to be named " hand set " by international bodies is not by accident.
He said that it is never a pocket set. He went on to say that males (men) have egg resemblance in between their legs...scrotum. He admonished men to stop putting their hand set in their pockets, but to hold on hand. If you continue to put set in your pocket, the radiation from it will denature your spermatozoa and cook your scrotum . That is why our men will marry 2 to 3 years no Issues. They begin to blame their wife. They will visit men of God for fasting and prayers. God will answer them and reverse the condition, but coming out of the church, they put back the handset in their pockets and continued to denature their sperm and cook their scrotum again.
Before a communication mast is mounted in your property, you will be paid between 10 to 20 million naira as long as you sign a document the network provider gives you. People don't even read the document. Only sign and collect the pay. The document reads in part within the middle ( we are giving you this money to buy land in another place and relocate, because what we are about to mount here is dangerous to your health ) . If you continue to stay there in about 10 to 15 years period, you and others living there will be suffering from one cancer case to the other.

Please guys, don't be putting handset in your pockets. Inform your friends and relatives about the dangers. Ladies inform your brothers, male friends and relatives the same.

By putting sets in your pocket or inside bra Can cause prostrate and breast cancer respectively.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to discuss a little on one of the burning health issues.
