My personal favourite HipHop Band/Group of all time. This track talks about the decline of HipHop and the false lifestyles of rappers (Frontin and flossin). As usual BlackThought raps eloquently with thought provoking lyrics and the video mocks the rap videos that were slowing eroding the true principles of HipHop.

Foreign AffairsAfrican Migrants Flee Italian Town As Pope Condemns Violence. by Vacora(op): 10:45am On Jan 11, 2010
More than 1,000 Africans fled a southern Italian town over the weekend after a wave of violence against migrant farm workers as Pope Benedict XVI condemned the assaults on immigrants
An investigation was under way to establish whether local organised crime groups were involved in clashes that left 67 people injured in the Calabrian town of Rosarno -- 31 of them migrants, 19 police officers and 17 locals.
Calm was generally restored Sunday after two days of unrest.
Police in the regional capital Reggio di Calabria said Sunday 1,128 African migrants had left the Rosarno area, with more than 800 transferred to reception centres in the southern towns of Crotone and Bari.

Pope Benedict XVI spoke out against the two days of violence which erupted on Thursday, saying in his traditional Sunday sermon, "We have to go to the heart of the problem, of the significance of the human being.
"An immigrant is a human being, different in where they came from, in their culture and tradition, but a person to respect who has rights and responsibilities."
"Violence must never be a means to solve difficulties," the pope added.

A Rosarno police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity and referring to the possible involvement of the region's 'Ndrangheta network, one of Italy's most brutal organised crime group, told AFP that "several investigations are under way but they have only just started".
'Ndrangheta members are suspected of having exploded a device outside the public prosecutor's office in the regional capital Reggio Calabria earlier this month in a revenge attack.
Italian Interior Minister Roberto Maroni confirmed on Sky TG24 news channel that the cause of the two-day unrest in Rosarno with 15,000 residents was being investigated.

Maroni accused the 'Ndrangheta of having "secretly brought thousands of workers into the country" to unscrupulously exploit them.
He also criticised local authorities, the migrants' employers and employers' associations for worsening the migrants' condition by paying them poorly and accommodating them in slum quarters.
"Police recognised local 'Ndrangheta clan members in the clashes with the immigrants," Il Quotidiano della Calabria reporter Michele Albanese told AFP.

"The mafia cynically exploits the immigrants. The criminal masterminds know that clandestine immigrants will not even try to revolt because they have no ID and no state protection," anti-mafia priest Luigi Ciotti concurred.
Il Giornale, the newspaper owned by Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's family, meanwhile, offered provocative advice for residents of the southern Calabria region: "Rather than shooting negroes, shoot the mafia."
"Why won't Calabrians shoot the mafia? Immigrants are poor and weak, ugly and dirty, perfect targets," the paper said. "Organised crime which keeps security forces in check is powerful, violent, revengeful and therefore must not be bothered," the paper added with a twist of irony.

Local producers, while voicing no regrets for the migrants' flight, fear that without them the region's agriculture -- mainly based on oranges, tangerines and kiwis -- may not survive.
"We don't want them back," a Rosarno landowner, who would only identify himself as Giuseppe, told AFP.
"We gave the negroes clothes and food, we even gave them meals for Christmas," he added, insisting that no one should "take us for racists".
With cheap Italian farmhands long gone to help harvest the produce grown in the region's mild Mediterranean climate, African migrant workers have been back every year working 12 to 14 hours a day for 20 to 25 euros (29 to 36 dollars) without social security benefits or paying taxes.

Mimmo, owner of a citrus orchard in Rosarno, said some migrants had been "desperate" to work for 10 euros a day. But even at that rate farmers were having problems making a profit, he said.
When speaking to the press most farmers claim they never hired any clandestine workers but charities say 2,000 Africans were illegally employed in the Rosarno area until the latest violence.

"So next year the fruits will not be picked," Domenico, a friend of Giuseppe's, added wearily.
"Years ago we had the Romanians, Poles and Bulgarians who worked for not much, but since they have joined the European Union they prefer to work in northern Italy where they make more while working legally."

@ Mr Coon , thanks for showing us exactly the type of person. As you rightly said you belong to the lower order of life, to put it mildly, you are subhuman. How dare you stereotype Nigerians? So because some British women enjoy getting sloshed, wasted and hammered on a night out, means all British women are drunken louts? Or Some Americans are considered to be loud and bossy, does that make it right to label every American self centred and egotistical? Your posts have been puerile and xenophobic. There are loads of talented, hardworking, law abiding and successful in every part of the world, Nigerians always strive to better themselves - it is the go-get- it attitude, that makes them successful and progress in which ever field or career they choose. We are boisterous, we enjoy life and we party. And will be here until they bury you maggot infested carcass!!!

You are the problem with society i live in - narrowed minded bigots who blame others for their own failures. The "whiteman" as you call him or her is no better than anyone else, my ancestors fought against your kind of mentality and they had a word for people like you, so please refrain from talking about black militancy because you do not have a right to speak for black people.

@ Mr Coon: Why in this time and age will someone call themselves Mr Coon? huh I take it you know the meaning of the word "Coon" and i am surprised not one person has pulled you up on your thinly veiled racism on this forum.
For my fellow Nairalanders who are not aware of the meaning, "Coon" is a very insulting word for a black person.
And what do you also mean by banning "ethnic" clothes? Being Nigerian, i can choose to wear my traditional attire when it suits me, if you don't like it then lump it! And you dare call people " blackies" ?!
Mate, if no one else has sensed your motives for being on a Nigerian forum, i have and I'll make sure you get chucked out, friggin racist!!!

I live in London and i suspect this story is a complete fabrication, The Met cannot sustain a 24 hour surveillance of areas populated by Nigerians, besides it will be illegal. I am not being looked at differently and other Nigerians i know are not being paranoid.
I will seriously question the motives of whoever is the source for this so called story.

Music/RadioTop Selling Hiphop Albums For 2009. by Vacora(op): 9:34pm On Jan 01, 2010
1.Eminem - The Detroit MC’s return album, Relapse, sold 1,533,184 which puts Slim Shady at number one.  If you haven’t had a chance to pick up this album you can pick up Relapse: Refill which is the holiday re-release of the album with seven extra songs.  This paves the way for Relapse 2 which is supposed to be a little more serious than its predecessor.

2. The Black Eyed Pea’s fifth album sold 1,440,895 copies on the strength of strong singles like “Boom Boom Pow”, “I Gotta Feeling”, and “Meet Me Halfway.” angry

3.Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 sold 1,337,192.

4.Rick Ross sold 401,000 copies with his third album Deeper Than Rap lipsrsealed

5.Jadakiss, comes in at number five for top selling Hip Hop for this year.  The Last Kiss sold 342,000 copies.

6. Fabulous's Loso’s Way sold 270,000 copies with the help of singles “Throw It In The Bag” and “Money Goes, Honey Stays.” I’m not sure what Fabolous plans on doing in 2010 but hopefully it involves Twitter.

7. Drake's EP So Far sold 257,000 people copies.

8. Mr Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.  The Queens MC managed to continue his beef with Rick Ross and take a couple of shots at Jay-Z all while releasing his fifth album Before I Self Destruct.  The album has been looked at as having lackluster sales but has still managed 227,000.

Lil Wayne and Young Money pushed about 140k their first week to hit the Top 10 of the charts. Mary J. Blige sold about 340k, landing her at the No. 2 slot for her debut.

Those were the top selling albums of 2009 and that was the last ChartWatch of 2009. Let's hope 2010 will see a revival in HipHop.

I am quite surprised Raekwon's Bulit For Cuban Links 2 is not the list despite rave reviews.

CelebritiesTeddy Riley's 18 Year Old Daughter Obtains Restraining Order Against Him. by Vacora(op): 7:54pm On Jan 01, 2010
Legendary producer and originator of “New Jack Swing”, Teddy Riley was part of the male RnB groups Guy and Blackstreet. Teddy Riley has issued an official statement in an attempt to set the record straight about the alleged beating of his 18 year old daughter.
Riley’s adult daughter obtained a restraining order against him, claiming the singer beat her and her sister and threatened to hurt them with a guitar from the video game Rock Band earlier last month and the three even proceeded to go at it online via Twitter.

Here's the statement in its entirety:
Due to recent events, I am compelled to respond in detail to accusations made against me, by my daughters.
I love my Daughters, but I will not allow my children to disrespect me in my home. Contrary to what I have been accused of, I would never beat my children.
Perhaps, I should have been a stronger disciplinarian as they were growing up. I worked very hard so that my children would want for nothing.
In hindsight, I see that it was a mistake to give them everything they wanted so that they could have the childhood I never had. Unfortunately, they have taken me, and the privileged life I have given them, completely for granted.
Instead of being appreciative and realizing how fortunate they are, my children have an inflated sense of entitlement and expectation without having to work or earn their way.

However, my 'children' are no longer children, they are adults and I am trying to instill in them values and a work ethic of their own. My mother always told me "too many grown people can't live in one house" so I encourage them to have their own homes if they cannot abide by the rules of mine. I am not an uptight Dad, I am as hip as they come but I will not tolerate being taken advantage of or disrespected, especially in my home.
I've been working since the age of 14, I bought my first car by myself. Nobody gave me a car. My kids don't even remember their first car. I grew up with 6 of us in an apartment fighting over one bathroom. My kids have never had to share a bathroom, let alone a bedroom.

I'm asking everyone to let this one go,  I'm only being a good parent. I'm a great father and everyone who knows me, knows this is true.

Thank you so much,

With all my love,
Teddy Riley

@ Kosovo
XBOX 360 outsold Ps3 for 2 years buddy! figures in for black Friday and you're gleefully rejoicing like a teenage cheerleader, you might as well bring out the pompoms and mini skirt because PS3 sale figures improved in America partly due to the $100 walmart vouchers. I am yet to experience any game lags you have erroneously or perhaps deliberately attributed to XBL. and i have hosted games without any hitches with players all over the world.
And as moderator you are awfully biased and your constant bashing of the 360 is quite infantile, one-sided, poorly researched and a tad irritating. Just because i choose not buy a PS3 does not make me less intelligent or media savvy - so quit the bollocks about your pseudo-love for gaming.

Kosovo, the more you write, the more i am inclined to think that you do not know what you are talking about. Sony is not dominating the game consoles war, the Wii is the number one game console outsellling both the XBOX 360 and PS3.
PS3 is still playing catch up, they may be dominating the Japanese market after all it is Sony's home advantage however telling me the PS3 is outselling XBOX 360 is the states and Europe is a fallacy. You Sony Fanboys keep talking about the Blu Ray player, at the moment i have got the most expensive paper weight - my Xbox 360 HDD but the blu ray is not selling that well in the US. Sony is even struggling in the High Definition TV market and you talk about dominance?
I have owned an XBOX 360 Elite since 2007 and my first RROD was about two months ago, i sent the console off to the microsoft repair centre and it was fixed and returned in less than two weeks free of charge - at least Microsoft have put their hands up to that issues which is being sorted out as we speak but Sony is not being totally honest with the yellow light of death on PS3 - be honest and admit that it is a hardware issue on both parts.
Why the price drop in the PS3 i ask you? simple: Sony is struggling and they finally took Microsoft's advice in March 2009 to drop the price of the console due to the economic downturn.
I am not ignorant sir and i do not hide behind inflated and bogus statistics, my advice to you is try to be a little objective in your posts on this section, let the audience or readers or users decide for themselves and you trying to ram stuff down our throats isn't helping either.
