Enjoy the individual sanctions and visa ban heading your way. Your statement was callous and lacks emotional intelligence or empathy.
The worse kind of person is the person who thinks that they know it all and in benefit of hindsight still thinks there is nothing to learn at all.
The use of deadly or lethal force at Lekki was unlawful and unnecessary. The soldiers were not subject to deadly force or violence from unarmed protestors. A carte blanche order to use such force in these circumstances was unnecessary. |

Vaughanlanrewaj: Thank you sir. All these questions have been investigated and will be tendered against them in court. It is fair to assume their innocence until proven guilty. But as far as taking them to court and prosecuting them, government is in order.
If not, the victims of the carnage they created with their fake videos and pictures may as well take laws into their own hands as well. They kept on sharing a lot of fake news and so far, it appeared they got paid to do so. The same government that have been unable to find the sponsors of Boko Haram? The same government who utter false or misleading statements on a daily basis like that have conquered BH in the North? The same government who denied the presence of the Nigeria Army at Lekki? I am sorry I do not align or trust any government which wilfully tramples on the rights and freedoms of Nigerians. Even our judiciary has been compromised so there will be no true justice at the courts either. I support accountability and fairness but whoever wants equity must come to the table with clean and open hands. |

The people who were sponsoring them by paying huge sums of money to them and they receiving the money have case to answer. They should go prove their innocence in court. . Prove there is a causal link between the peaceful protestors and the riotous mobs? Did you see money change hands? Where you present at any such meetings? Where is the conspiracy? I am not interested in hearsay or market women gossip. Where are your facts to make such assumptions? |

You cannot charge an organiser of a peace assembly or protest retrospectively due to the presence or actions of riotous mob in other areas. So because I choose to join the EndSars movement which calls for a fairer and just society in which extra judicial killings and torture against hapless citizen should not be the norm means I am guilty of riot? Prove to a competent court I acted riotously and leave all the semantics to the legal experts. Anyone who uses unlawful violence on persons or property is guilty of riot. The soldiers or undercover agents who used or incited ‘unlawful violence’ why aren't they being prosecuted? |

Foreign Affairs › Re: What Will Happen If Donald Trump Refuses To Leave Office by Vacora(m): 9:44am On Nov 09, 2020 |
Businext: On March 4th 1801, the second president of the United States, John Adams, refused to hand over office to his main rival at the 1800 election, Thomas Jefferson.
The rule of midday January 20 had not been written yet but despite his stubbornness, the office simply left him!
After Thomas Jefferson was sworn in at an event which the incumbent refused to attend, Whitehouse staff started to remove the former president’s belongings from the White house (Adams was the first president to reside at the new official residence). All security organs cut all official communication and all presidential staff stopped taking instructions from Adams – THE OFFICE MOVED.
From that time all incumbents at the White House prepare early to leave in case they see signs of losing to avoid humiliation by the independent organs of state (the military, the Secret Service, the CIA, FBI and White House staff all operate under a code - serving a man/woman who has carried the WILL of the people at an election).
As soon as Biden clinches the 270 votes and is officially declared by all returning officers in the states, the following is going to happen
1. The Secret Service divides its attention between the incumbent at the incoming President.
2. CIA begins to give them both security briefings (including top secret intelligence which is traditionally reserved for the commander in chief).
3. The counter intelligence teams of the CIA which also ‘spy’ on the CIA also begin to brief both of them.
4. Whitehouse staff prepare to re-do the WH in-line with the taste of the president-elect. 5. At Midday on January 20, Whitehouse staff remove all the former president's belongings from the house and bring in the belongings of the new president (they wait for no one’s instructions).
6. The deductions for Whitehouse rent on Trump’s salary stops in January while the deductions for Whitehouse rent begins on Joe Biden’s presidential salary in January.
7. Melania Trump stops being the boss of Whitehouse on January 20 at midday and Dr. Jill Biden becomes the boss of Whitehouse on January 20 at midday.
8. At midday on January 20, all the power organs of the US cut official communication with Trump; The Pentagon, The CIA, The FBI, The Attorney General. The Secret Service however maintains minimal communication since it is going to guard the ex-president all his life.
8. The BEAST and AIRFORCE ONE salute Trump for the last time and move their attention to Biden. The BEAST begins to carry Biden’s blood samples as is the tradition.
All this without any executive orders or instructions from anyone! The system just kicks in.

SmartyPants: As someone who knows International Law and has visited the ICC, and have met several ICC/ICTR prosecutors, I can assure you that no case will come about out of these actions.
1. The requirements to qualify for prosecution are steep and will surely not be met 2. There is an ongoing legal proceeding which the Rome Statute respects 3. The ICC has no enforcement mechanism and relies on member States to voluntarily hand over suspects. Can sanctions, visa bans and embargoes be issued as a result? |

olisaEze: What is a debrief You brief prior to deployment and debrief at the end of an operation or tour of duty. The debrief typically is used to cover what went well and what went wrong during an operation. Also used to gauge officers’ wellbeing and welfare. Any intelligence received is also shared, news, reactions etc. Briefing is like your typical presentation at work however it is delivered as a secure package to ensure sensitive information or intelligence is not leaked and the information therein is for properly vetted officers eyes and ears only. |

Inasmuch the soldier is trying to help her to change. Some ladies they always learn the hard way. Really? It is not his job and there is a right to freedom of expression and thought. This is inhumane and against protocols. That officer will be reprimanded. It is a civil society and no one is above the law. Politics › Re: Army: We Won’t Disclose Identity Of Personnel Deployed To Lekki Tollgate by Vacora(m): 5:50pm On Nov 01, 2020 |
calberian: The fact of the matter is this:
The army claims that they were called upon to restore order and, more importantly manage the curfew (italicised emphasis mine) but I posit that the reverse was the case:
The curfew was introduced to manage the impending advent of a military exercise at lekki which, believe what you may, was admittedly beyond the powers of the governor.
This is so because, if the main instruction was to restore and maintain order, they’d have been deployed to locations where incidents of violence from civil unrest had been recorded. There’s no need to list them.
The Lekki toll gate never recorded any such incidence until the evening of Tuesday, October 20, 2020. The objective at Lekki could not have been to restore order because no such intervention was needed. Protesting at the toll gate or any other public location was fully within the ambits of the rights of the protesters so there were no grounds for such a move. Nothing was scratched, let alone damaged at that toll gate. Infact, there seemed to be a team saddled with the responsibility of managing the integrity of the toll plaza and evidently, their performance was stellar. So, application of such level of force at that place however, was most befuddling.
I’ll just say this to whom it may concern: You can fool all of the people some of the time; you can even fool some of the people all of the time however, you can NEVER fool all of the people all of the time. You are correct in your submission. I have always said their deployment to an ongoing peaceful protest was totally abhorrent. Dealing with public disorder remains the remit of the police. So instead of reminders or announcement about the impending curfews which were coincidentally a couple of hours away, or deploying water cannons or teargas, our ‘gallant’ soldiers decided to discharge their firearms at unarmed civilians? If our police had properly trained Public Order officers with shields and batons, this tragedy could have been averted. As usual we decided to opt for the sledgehammer to crack open a nut. |
