Very very unfortunate. This has been happening for a long long time. At least give some room for merit, irrespective of the region the candidate is coming from. Nepotism will kill this country faster than anything.

BusinessRe: Dangote's $13b Generator Arrives In Nigeria, Femi Otedola Witnesses The Arrival by valves: 7:37am On Aug 24, 2019
First, It's not the type of generator you think. It's a Heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), which will be attached to the exhaust system of the gas turbines to recover the heat from the exhaust gases by converting water to steam.

And the cost of the whole refinery is around $16 billion so the heat recovery system (which is not even among the most expensive piece of equipment in the refinery) doesn't cost that much

EducationRe: Help....i Have Lost Interest In School (pls Hear My Story) by valves: 9:54am On Jun 21, 2019
Well, to be honest OP, I think you should try and finish your studies. Afterwards you can pursue whatever it is that you want to do for the rest of your life. Since you have come this far, IMO it doesn't make any sense to dropout. I have a friend back then in Uni who lost interest in our final year. I pleaded with him to endure for one more year, but he refused. Now he is trying to make ends meet by doing menial jobs. There is nothing wrong with doing menial jobs by the way, just he has lost that extra advantage of being a graduate cos his options are limited.
EducationRe: How I Almost Ruined My Life Academically!!! by valves: 9:26am On Jun 21, 2019
I think you did the right thing by going back to school. I also think you will perform better this time because you are now fully convinced that school is the best option for you, right now at least. Don't regret anything. Go and celebrate with your friends on their induction. In life it is not the first to graduate that will be the most successful. And I love your determination. Wishing you the best.

Hiibeek:
Thank you so much for ur response. I sincerely appreciate.
One more thing pls-as a recent graduate that was invited through the CV based interview, what category does he fall into-is it executive trainee, management trainee or a junior civil engineer
For now, I know that the only way you can come in as an ET/MT is if you passed through the normal recruitment phases involving an aptitude test, group discussion, technical interview, psychometric test, and medical assessment.

For CV based interview you're most likely going to be a Junior/senior civil engineer. Most likely...

Hiibeek:
hello
good evening
please i have some questions regarding this post.
1)is Dangote projects an affiliate of the refinery?
2)where is the Office located i.e where is your friend's office located(at the refinery or oba akran?)
3)do you have an idea of the salary range for a junior civil engineer?
1. Dangote projects are in charge of construction of the refinery. Meaning they oversee/supervise other contractors at the refinery site. They may also be posted to other project sites.

2. Dangote project and Dangote refinery have same head office, which is Mekunwen Ikoyi. However all workers (especially engineers) under project reports at the refinery site at Lekki Free To Zone, Ibeju Lekki.

3. Salary range is around 130-150k.

true this is another way to look at it, but sometimes the deferall isnt so straighforward. A friend of mine told me PTDF offered to pay half of hte amount if he chose to defer till next year, dont know how true it is though
This is untrue. Irrespective of whether you defer or not, PTDF will still fulfil her obligations. However, deferment is only allowed for a year max.

Why worry over the things you have no power over. Dragnet has improved over the years. The credibility was questioned sometime from reasons of change of scores to question leaks and so on but they have changed and they are even more organized. I was part of the Chevron 2012 and Mobil 2012 recruitment conducted by dragnet. The situation was worse from bad servers to poor coordination of the candidate. The credibility of that exam was nothing to write home about. In my thought, I felt I could change things and escalated the matter to chevron, guess what? Nothing happened. Chevron moved on with the results. I sat and thought again, I regretted my actions. What was it about this test? The co-ordination, the difficulty or the leak test? If it is the difficulty, then yo have proven yourself to be a fool. You don’t have any right to state or determine what questions a prospective employer gives to you. If it is the leak test, are you talking about repetition of questions? Even SHL repeats questions. Having the opportunity to answer a question that has been asked at a previous test means you are someway qualified to work for that company because a test invitation isn’t for everyone. Some people have been rejected for this same recruitment. The post on LinkedIn is very unprofessional, you don’t go about being critic of a prospective, past or present employer publicly. One fear of these type of organizations are personalities that have the tendency to rebel, they are scared of unions, whilst unions are there to protect the right of staff, you don’t want to be identified as one that will belong to a union before you are employed. Show your competency on the job before you join a union. Many of Nigerian graduates need to be professional and need more learning. These are a few things I had to learn the hard way. Escalating the matter to chevron wasn’t necessary as I had little or no power over it. If they decide to send everyone a rejection mail, would you question them? No. We need to be cautious of our actions. If there is anything I have noticed about dragnet recently, it is that they have improved. It is not only graduate they conduct test for. I wrote a mid level test in September and I passed. I was surprised myself. That was my first pass, i believe I had mastered the system over the years. Recruiting cost money and I am sure Mobil won’t want to waste their money neither will dragnet want to put their name in a bad light.
Lesson: when you write test and Interviews, you have little or no control over the outcome. You have the opportunity to decline or accept writing. Should you accept, move on after the exams or interview. Remain hopeful but don’t exact force over nothing you can change.
Thank you very much. I hope everyone learns from this.
