I don't have time for all this B.S. politics. Some people have too much time on their hands. |
I will answer your question and add more to further explain my point of view. MY DEFINITION OF COMMONSENSE is simple: making sense out of nonsense using our natural senses and spirituality. (now that i think of it perhaps there is a better word for this but I will call it 'commonsense' for now) You see, I believe some of the early "humans" (esp. the Africans and native americans) were not only VERY knowledgeable about our genesis but that they were able to do what I said above with little problems hence why they were the strongest humans to have ever walked the earth, the wisest, and were able to survive using their minds alone; unlike us today who have to depend on technology and what we are "told" is right...by scientists and religitards alike. some of us still have this in us. today we refer to it as intuition though it is not as strong as it were for those who came before us who were far more connected with their God/s, the universe and their spirituality. It's no coincidence you had all of these spectacular ancient societies all over the world with a shared common knowledge about earth, creation and so forth using commonsense (or the ability to see the truth using our natural senses), theism/spirituality and HONEST science. but that was the past. the introduction of modern science has not only weakened our connection with the universe and our spirituality but also our sense of creativity. Some of our forefathers challenged nature, went against the grain and thus have forsaken our generation who are more about trying to disprove spirituality/God and explain the unexplainable. Speaking of which.... i doubt this will make sense to you being that you are an atheist and really, only those who accept true spirituality will understand. When you have people who really have to ask how were the pyramids created without alien involvement or the stones placed on easter island without construction tools and trucks, you know we are in trouble. ![]() as if what we know today is not due to those who came before us, 99% of whom were spiritual-theists who sited their knowledge as being gifts from God/s.
Explain to me how your Senses accurately predict the Structure of the Universe. Your Definition applies also to the Scientific Method, the only difference is that your "common sense definition" only comes in when we have collected Data and information on an Entity. It is then we put the Jig Saw together and make sense out of Nonsense. I personally don't see how your senses give you a result when no Data was collected. How do you know how many Moons Saturn has, when no telescope was Used? |
WOW! and who were these explorers? EUROPEANS?!!
I never said Europeans. The Point i'm trying to make is that everyone was ignorant when it came to the "heavenly bodies", including the Europeans. The Ignorance dissipated when individuals started observing the Planet and Stars with telescopes. I don't see how common sense will reveal the number of moons that orbit a Planet! |
http://dickinsg.intrasun.tcnj.edu/diaspora/dogon.html "The Dogon use four calenders, derived from the sun, moon, Sirius, and Venus, and have long believed in a heliocentric universe, in which the planets revolve around the sun." heheheheeee ![]() but if some white man in a smock says it with his technology, I guess he was just some genius tho. these polytheistic..(pro-theism) negroes..must be aliens.
I also find it amazing that the Dongon had that much knowledge on Astronomy. However I doubt they had any interaction with extraterrestrials. I suspect that at some point they must have encountered explorers from other parts of the world, this would explain how they were able to know these things without telescopes. |
Before I go further, what is your definition of "Common Sense "? |
The power of science. Science has given me the power to become God. Infact, I am God. |
joshua idibia: Damm! I thought i saw dis grl in Yerima's compound dis morning! It's not everything you joke about! |
LoL! Miss kails, the example I gave wasn't on the shape of the earth, infact, I said nothing about the earth's shape. What I cited was the popular opinion that the earth was the center of the universe, which was shown to be false. The Sun is the center of the universe, all eight planets(Pluto excluded ) revolve around the Sun. Now, tell me how your common sense would have shown you that it's the Sun rather than the earth that is the center of the universe. |
I personally support Abortion, most especially when the life of the baby and mother is at risk if the baby is not removed. |
paulhq: well, according to scientists, there is.The body is controlled by the impulses in nerves sent from the brain, this impulses are like electrical charges.Small electrical charges like this are contained in radiations(infared, radio, gamma e.t.c).But i would agree with you that nothing can control the brain, not even you can control your brain.Am sure all they did there is to alter the direction of the impulses.I see. I personally think that the charges that the brain produced from the first individual was passed through the EEG machine which would have transformed it into some form of electrical current or a wave that can be compared to WIFI. This then passes through the second EEG machine, which converts it back to brain charges, but the question is, do the produced charges have to pass through the CNS of the second individual before it gets to his Motor neurons? |
afroxyz: Personally I would like to see America go to more wars. That way their resources would be over-stretched and their economy would dwindleWhy?! Jealous Fool! It's your type that want the USA to be destroyed yet you play Visa lottery every year. |
Uyi Iredia: That time can be drastically shortened if we get about making things right right now.I agree. |
Logicboy03: Can they even vote for a female president?LOL! Nigeria has never taken any Female Presidential aspirant seriously. Sarah Jibril only got one vote in the PDP primaries and that was from herself. Nigeria and Africa in general are still a long, long, long way from being a decent intellectual environment. |
Evil Brain: @OPWell said. |
Logicboy03: Even India is a bit better than Nigeria. They have a rationalist group and some TV debates against superstition.India's first Prime Minister Nehru, was openly Atheist. I wonder if Nigerians can vote for an Atheist President, even when he is the most qualified. |
Uyi Iredia: True talk. Seriously, if I was atheist that's what I would do. Even then, like the US I doubt an open atheist can hold a political office in these parts. There are Individuals that are openly Atheist that have been elected into Congress. It's more likely to occur in more Liberal States. |
shymexx: Lil Kim needs to go sit her broke, old, tired and plastic ar.se where the sun don't shine.Bro, Lil Kim's ar.se is massive though! It's plastic but we can't deny how enormous it is. Best ar.se of the night : (Lady Gaga)- Damn, her Ar.se shocked me. Someone has been doing her squats. I always assumed GaGa was a flat chic. I guess I was wrong. ![]() Worst ar.se of the night : (Miley Cyrus)- So disappointed with Miley's Ar.se. When I saw her twerking video, I thought she had a big Arse, but that performance at the Vmas proved me wrong. Damn, she's Sooo Flat. Get that lady to the Gym! She needs some squats in her life. |
Damn! Church Business is booming ooooo. |
Savages. |
Damn!! I started laughing before I even opened the Thread. ![]() |
Placebo effect. |
Ezechinwa: Everyone has the right to be stu-pid , but youDon't quote me again. Try me and you will feel the wrath of Hades today. |
This is Pathetic. On a lighter note, Chief Keef at 0:27 ![]() |
Why is my question being ignored?! Na Wa!!!! |
nnanyereugo: R.I.P(Rest In Prison)R.I.P R@ped in Prison. |
Van snickers: Why is there a Christian Abode and a Christian Chat-box?! What's happening?! You guys want to go Fundamentalist on us abi?Answer my question! It was the Religion Section Chat-room. Now, it's the Christian Chat-Box. |
Pk001: I hate bigots like you! This is absolute Insanity! The Logical thing to do in this case is to swear-in the Deputy as the Governor. |
Why is there a Christian Abode and a Christian Chat-box?! What's happening?! You guys want to go Fundamentalist on us abi? |
is that why science always cancels itself out and they have to refer back to basic common sense now I just watched an entire hour and a half worth of a documentary about the possibility of time traveling using blackholes, light, and creating a "time machine" in space.common sense told me early on it was impossible... however these same scientists after using Einstein's theory of relativity formulas and wasting billions of dollars in experiments eventually came to the conclusion that I did, using common sense alone, that it is all fckery, what say you about that?furthermore it was common sense that gave birth to the idea of science in the first place. #fact along with theism the two worked really well together, initially.... but then as of late, idiotic personal wants and desires being added to the mix ended up being the reason why even science has a hard time convincing its own "believers" of a single - true theory about evolution [much less a "creationist" such as myself]. HONEST anthropologists will tell you there are far more "holes" in their theories, than facts.
You claim it was common sense that led you to the same answer as the Scientists, wrong. What you had was a hunch that wasn't backed up by Scientific Evidence. Michael Faraday made great progress in the field of Electricity and electromagnetism but it took James Clerk Maxwell's Experiments and Equations to prove the Veracity of Faraday's work. A Hypothesis comes forth from Observation not from Common Sense. In fact, a Hypothesis is born, when an Observed entity contradicts/goes against a generally accepted Idea on a particular Subject. In the Days of Ptolemy and Aristotle, it was believed that the Earth was the Center of the Universe and all other Planets and entities revolved around it, this also supports Biblical thought and anyone at the Time if asked would obviously confirm that the Earth is the center of Universe and like you, they will attribute it to common Sense. It took the unconventional observations by Copernicus to bring down this generally accepted Idea and also the confirmations of Galileo who with his telescope observed the moons of Jupiter and realized that the Model that Copernicus had put forth held water. I won't say Evolution is flawless, but i'll say it's the best we have to answer the fundamental questions we have on the subject. Also, Science does not always cancel itself out. Most times Scientific Theories build on each other. Take Quantum Mechanics for example. |
spongeback: Isn't mike Tyson that black ex boxer with tattoo on his face, that blew away his fortune on booze and drugs? He was arrested on domestic abuse charges the list goes on and onYou claimed he had never been in the news for anything Positive. Mike Tyson was one of youngest Boxers to go professional, One of the youngest Champions of the heavyweight division, don't even get started on his Knockout streak. Yes, he has his Bad sides, but he also has achievements worth mentioning. |
I hope he wins a Nobel Prize. |
