MAYOWAAK: An activist, Tounbo Aremo Odua, has complained that the $30,000 match bonus giving to the Super Eagles for winning their match against Ethiopia is against the Federal Character principles as it enriches the Igbo nation to the disadvantage of other players.

Tokunbo said because most of the players are of Igbo origin the dole out is unfair.

The activist’s post is reprinted below verbatim;

Now the Igbo Nation or Igbo people will be $330,000 or 60million Naira richer than every other ethnic nation /people in Nigeria...
This is the kind of inequality, injustice and unfairness that I'm talking about. If that country seriously want peace and progress it should learn how to unite Nigerians and treat every Nigerians equally and not favouring or promoting one ethnic nation /people over the others. Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians and her success or failure in any events should be the joint responsibility of all ethnic nationals that made up the country. We might as well not qualify or win the Nations cup than putting forward all the Igbos to represent other ethnic nations.
Source please, cos this piece is rather UNFORTUNATE coming from a supposed learned individual.

olokfor: Delta State governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, has towed the Federal Government’s line, rewarding members of the victorios Super Eagles team to the just concluded African cup of Nations with millions of naira.
At the reception held at the Asaba internationalevent center, Mr. Uduaghan also named the Asaba stadium after the team coach, Stephen Keshi, an indigine of the state.
Mr. Keshi also got N8million cash reward plus a duplex in the state capital.

Mr Keshi’s assistants, Dan Amokachi, Sylavnus Okpalla, and Ike Shorunmu got N4m each while each player gets N 2.5m cash.
Members of the team who were old and present players of Warri Wolves FC got N5million. The beneficiaries are Sunday Mba, Chigozie Agbim, Azuibike Egweke, and Brown Ideye.

Some people are busy saying the govt is taking this gesture too far. I for one, think they deserve it, cos remember no one gave them a chance before and during the AFCON tournament.
Keshi and his lads have done well and they should be rewarded, and while we are at it, also encourage the younger and older ones. grin grin grin

PoliticsRe: Jonathan Can't Sack Maina – Presidency by vanstanzy(m): 1:14pm On Feb 15, 2013
Ngwakwe: This our democracy is becoming far more better than Gen. Buhari's military rule.

The era where too much power lies in the hand of one man is over.

Institutionalized rule of Law is the way forward, no matter who is elected President. There must be a laid down procedure for resolving issues in a Constitutional democracy.

Things are getting better in Nigeria.
Come to think of it, this is a good omen, that's if they really leave up to it. Power shouldn't be centered around a block, that's what we've been agitating for. So, the explanation Reuben Abati is giving, if true, makes a lot of sense.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Can't Sack Maina – Presidency by vanstanzy(m): 1:09pm On Feb 15, 2013
The upper legislative chamber said Jonathan would need to choose between the Senate and Maina, threatening that the legislature had teeth to bite.

“The executive has to choose between the Senate and Maina. He has crucified himself. If Maina remains, then the Senate would react appropriately,” Senate President, David Mark, had said after a debate on a motion entitled, “Dismissal of Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina for refusal to appear before the Senate.”

If i were Jonathan, with this remark the Senate made, "I would be shaken down to my pants! grin grin grin". This has got to be the joke of the century, it means..."the Senate is a rabbid dog! grin grin grin"
