President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Tunde Lemo, as the new Chairman of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).



Apart from approving Mr Lemo’s appointment, President Buhari also okayed the appointment of new members of the FERMA Board which is all subject to Senate approval.



Those joining the former CBN deputy governor on the board are Nurudeen Rafindadi; Buba Abdullahi; Babagana Aji; Shehu Abdullahi and Loretta Aniagolu; Mujaidu Dako; Vincent Kolawole; Chukwunwike Uzo; Olubunmi Siyanbola; Abdulrazak Ma’aji; Saidu Abdulkadir and Peter Osawe.



President Buhari also reappointed Mr Peter Ewesor as the Managing Director of Nigerian Electricity Management Service Agency.



Ewezor’s reappointment became effective October 3 and gives him one final four-year term in office, in accordance with the provisions of Section 7(3) of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency Act, 2015.

A 21-year-old Nigerian national Abdulrahaman Rosenje, is one of three men facing felony charges for using fraudulent checks to steal from a restaurant in Columbus, Ohio, US.

Rosenje, of Kenosha, appeared in Columbia County Circuit Court via video from jail on Friday afternoon, October 6, charged with eight counts of felony forgery.

Assistant District Attorney Troy Cross requested Rosenje be held on a cash bond given the defendant’s lack of ties to the county as well as the sophistication of the alleged offenses as well.

“I don’t know of any ties to that particular area like a job or anything else and there was an allegation that he had been a Chicago resident before this, and I do not know of any Wisconsin or Illinois ID that he possesses,” Cross said. “The only thing that I’m aware of is a passport from, I think it was Nigeria.

Judge J. Andrew Voigt ordered Rosenje to be held on $2,000 cash bond, with his release conditioned on surrender of his passport within 24 hours of his release.

The case began when the Columbus Police Department was contacted by the owner of the Columbus Jimmy John’s sandwich shop, who reported that an employee, Austin Gruss, 19, of Columbus, had deposited fraudulent checks into his account amounting to nearly $5,000.

The checks, deposited on Sept. 1 in amounts between $272.12 and $752.87, totaled $4,796.89, all deposited through mobile banking. Additionally, the officer found that the recent spike in withdrawals was enough to require those deposits ahead of time.

Gruss told the officer on Sept. 6 that he met “Jay,” who was identified as Jalaldeen Olorundare, 18, in the dorms of Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa. Gruss told he officer he had suffered a football injury and dropped out of the school.

Olorundare offered Gruss an arrangement in which money would be deposited into Gruss’ account for him to transfer to another account, minus $100, which would be enough to pay for gas to get Gruss home. Due to rules for sending money through Money Gram at Walmart, Gruss told the officer he could only send up to $450 at a time without having ID with him. To transfer deposits of $900, Gruss divided them in two, making multiple transfers of $450.

Olorundare reportedly told officers on Sept. 14 that he had an arrangement with someone named “Doulie,” who would transfer money if provided account information. That person was Rosenje, who Olorundare claimed had been running the operation since March, police said.

On Sept. 25, officers searched Rosenje’s home in Kenosha, finding several cellphones, a laptop, and a printer enabled for commercial check printing. In a safe, officers reported finding a replica pellet gun and 245 unprinted checks.

While being taken into custody, Rosenje reportedly asked about Olorundare, saying: “It’s not right that he keeps going to college and doesn’t get arrested. I get arrested, and he was part of this too.”

Defense attorney Amanda Riek said Rosenje and his aunt are renting a house in Kenosha, where he works, as she explained his living arrangement was more stable than it appeared to be.

“I don’t think he has been actively using (the passport),” Riek said. “He said the only time he left was when he went to visit his father and he had a temporary visa. He had and continues to have no intentions of leaving Wisconsin and if he is released he could still have his employment.”

Voigt pointed out that it seemed very possible Rosenje had never personally been to Columbia County prior to his arrest.

“That the defendant also possesses a passport at this point is somewhat disconcerting as well,” Voigt said, “even though there are no allegations of international flight associated with this, although it involves allegations of inter-state criminal conduct, which may be more problematic.”

Rosenje is scheduled to next appear in court for a Jan. 4 return hearing.

Gruss is scheduled to appear in court for identical charges on Nov. 1, while Olorundare is due in court on the same eight counts on Nov. 8.

The Vasai Local Crime Branch (LCB) arrested two locals, who had come to sell 21.7kg Ephedrine drug at Manikpur, Vasai West, India last Sunday night, October 1.

The cops have also nabbed a Nigerian national identified as Stephen U, who had come to buy the entire cache from the duo. Along with the drug consignment, a high-end luxury car has also been recovered from the crime site.

The drug is worth crores in international market as various party drug products can be manufactured with the help of this stock seized.

According to reports, the Vasai LCB received a tip-off that there a huge cache of drug would change hands at Manikpur in Vasai West. Acting on the information, the sleuths laid a trap to nab the accused.

"We have arrested two people who were selling this drug at Vasai West", Said Ashok Honmane, PI LCB. He also confirmed about the arrest of the Nigerian national who was there to purchase the entire lot.

The Indian accused have been identified as Sarfarqz Yousuf Memon and Sohail Yousuf Memo.

Sohail Memon has been identified as the same person who had last month slapped a traffic cop 3 to 4 times during an argument, in full public view at a busy Vasai junction.

They have been arrested under various sections of NDPS act of 1985 and have been remanded to police custody till the October 7.

Man kills his baby mama and shoots their daughter shortly after she posted on Facebook about moody people​​​​​​​

A 26-year-old Zambian woman and her 2-year-old daughter were both shot last night by her baby daddy minutes after she wrote a post on Facebook about moody people.

Precious Manganisa, 26, had gone to her baby daddy's house in Ibex Hill, Meanwood in Lusaka province, Zambia last night to pick their daughter who she left with him. On getting there, a quarrel allegedly ensued between Precious and 34-year-old Nshinka Kaputo and he shot her and their daughter in the neck. Precious died of her injuries. Luckily, the little girl cheated death and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Minutes before she was shot, Precious, who was a Multichoice employee, left a post on Facebook which many now say most likely had to do with her baby daddy.

She wrote: "I honestly think moody people are the retarded! Literally psychopaths! Y’all just wake up angry at the world like who upset you?"

Zambia Police released a statement today confirming the incident. Zambia Police Spokesperson, Esther Mwaata Katongo, said in the statement that the baby daddy is now in police custody.

The statement reads: " We received a report of murder which happened in Lusaka Province yesterday, 05th October, 2017 at about 2000 hours in Mean wood ibex hill area in which Nshinka Kaputo aged 34 of unknown house number in Mean wood is alleged to have shot dead his girlfriend, Precious Manganisa aged 26 of unknown house number, Lusaka West using a Pistol.

"The victim went to the accused person’s residence to pick her daughter aged two years seven months who was at her father’s residence in Mean wood.

"She sustained a bullet wound on the neck. The scene was visited and a pistol with 10 rounds of ammunition was recovered.

"The baby was also shot in the neck and the projectile was stuck in the neck. It has been extracted by medical personnel at Fairview Hospital.

"The accused person is detained in police custody while the body is lying in UTH mortuary awaiting postmortem."

"Tiwa doesn’t want her son to feel pressured to do music because that’s what she’s doing and he’s a little shy. If he’s dancing and he catches you watching him, he’d stop.

She would love for her son to be a ball player (basketball or soccer), so he can buy her a retirement home.

The photos, leaked Tuesday, show Stephen Paddock's body on the floor of his suite in the Mandalay Bay resort and casino, which he used as a sniper's nest on Sunday night to open fire on 22,000 innocent people attending a music festival across the street.

Only the 64-year-old's legs, torso and left arm are visible in the photo, he was casually dressed like a normal person, the only thing that revealed his evil actions were the black gloves he was wearing.

On the floor next to the body are two assault rifles, dozens of spent shells and a hammer - which he presumably used to shatter two windows in his two-room suite which he then used to shoot out of.

One of the assault rifles has a 'bump stock' added to it - making effectively fully automatic - allowing him to unleash hundreds of rounds per minute.

The branding on the gun indicates it was made by Daniel Defense, a Savannah-Georgia-based company which produces variants of the AR-15 rifle, based off the U.S. Army's M16. Another gun appears to be under his body.



Another photo shows how he pushed two sitting chairs together to form a cradle-like space to store at least two other rifles. Another AR-15-style rifle is seen at the foot of chairs with an extended magazine that would allow him to shoot for longer before reloading.

Behind a nearby pillar, about 15 magazines are piled in neat stacks. It's unclear if they are loaded or spent.

Police estimate Paddock fired on the crowd for 11 minutes, starting at 10:08pm before he cowardly comitted suiciide.

A top university student leapt to her death from a bridge after discussing suicide methods with a friend, an inquest heard today.

"Extremely bright" Lara Nosiru, 23, had taken some medication and class A drugs when she plunged off Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol in January this year.

She went there with fellow Bristol University student Kasumi Kishi, who told police she had hoped to convince Ms Nosiru not to kill herself.

Two days later Ms Kishi told friends over a pizza how the two women had discussed suicide methods and killing themselves together.

Fellow flatmate Alex Gough claimed Ms Kishi told the group that if someone wanted to die it was cruel to make them stay alive.

Flatmate Solene Rebibo said at the meal Ms Kishi "seemed comfortable" talking about suicide to Ms Nosiru's friends.

CCTV footage showed the two women walking across the famous bridge shortly before 4pm on January 30 with Ms Nosiru occasionally stopping and looking over the edge.

When they reached the North Somerset side Ms Nosiru, from South Ockenden, Essex, twice tried to climb onto the wall above the gorge edge but Ms Kishi pulled her back down.

They two women then appeared to have a minor disagreement before Ms Kishi walked away and left her without looking back.

The security cameras showed Ns Nosiru having a final cigarette before climbing onto the wall and falling to her death.

A coroner heard that Ms Kishi, who no longer lives in the UK, was interviewed by police about "possible criminal offences being committed".

Ms Kishi told police that Ms Nosiru had told her to leave but she made Lara promise not to jump.

She said she tried to lighten her mood by making a joke about a man who had tried to jump to his death but had fallen into pig faeces and survived.

Detective Sergeant Nick Lawson told the coroner that Ms Nosiru allegedly told Ms Kishi "you'll have to let me go".

The CPS reviewed the case to see if charges of assisting in suicide or manslaughter by gross negligence could be brought against Ms Kishi but found no case to answer.

A coroner ruled that she had no direct involvement in Ms Nosiru's death and said the final year neuroscience student took her life while under the influence of drugs.

Avon and Somerset Coroner Dr Peter Harrowing heard how Ms Nosiru was "acting strange" on the day she died after taking the class A drug she had bought at a discount on her birthday.

She thought her hands were melting and was restless, saying every time she sat down she just wanted to get up again, her flatmates said in statements.

She was hallucinating and seen trying to "stamp" on people who she thought were on her bedroom floor.

Ms Kishi went to see her and they spent about 45 minutes together in her bedroom before going to the bridge in a taxi around 3.30pm.

The inquest heard that Ms Nosiru had suffered from depression for four years and took an overdose the night before her death.

Psychotherapist Dr Niklas Serning said he had seen Ms Nosiru every week for a year and she was "extremely bright" and would discuss the meaning of life at their hourly sessions.

He told the coroner: "She reported to me she had tried to kill herself.

"New Year and Christmas was a very sensitive time for her."

He said Ms Nosiru wanted to give life "another try" and asked him to "make my life meaningful again".

He said he last saw Ms Nosiru on the morning of her death when she said was very tired but didn't appear to be under the influence of drugs.

She booked a session for the following week and joked with him about his age.

Asked if there was anything that would have made him think she was going to take her own life, he said: "Absolutely not."

Dr. Harrowing said Ms. Kishi was not directly involved in Ms Nosiru's death and she had taken a "deliberate action" to jump off the bridge.

But he said he couldn't be sure beyond reasonable doubt that she had the mental intention to take her life that day.

He concluded: "She took her own life whilst under the influence of drugs."

A taxi driver identified as Ajibade Ademisoye was allegedly killed by operatives of the Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) on Monday September 25, in Rumuakunde community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The deceased's wife Mrs. Gift Jibade and the relatives of the slain taxi driver on Tuesday, staged a peaceful protest demanding justice for her murdered husband.

"On Monday Morning my husband who is a taxi driver called on me to go and register our Children in school, after given me the money, he told me he wanted to go out to buy something, immediately he left, just close to the playing ground, we saw people running, only for us to know that it was SARS operatives harrasing people ,so he took to his heels. He was however shot at the neck, when he fell down, the SARS man met him on the floor and shot at him again.

In his response the Council Chairman,Chief Godspower Nnwoka commiserated with the bereaved Family while urging them to take solace in God.
