How to Make Nigerian Puff Puff

“Puff Puff” is one of the most common snacks on the Nigerian streets. Unlike other confectioneries, you don’t need any special occasion to grab one of these delicious ‘puffy balls’ and sink your teeth on the go. Wondering how you can make one at home? Then try following the instructions below.

How to make Nigerian puff puff: Ingredients
*. 500g of flour
*. Cooking oil
*. Salt
*. Ground nutmeg
*. Warm water
*. Granulated Sugar
*. Yeast

How to make Nigerian puff puff: Instructions
1. Pour the flour into a deep and wide bowl.
2. Add in half teaspoon of nutmeg, yeast and sugar, salt and lukewarm water.
3. Start to mix till you get a really smooth component, (if it’s too dry, add the lukewarm water/ if it’s too wet, add flour) you can use an electric whisk to save time and energy.
4. Cover the component with foil paper and make it air tight. Place it somewhere like an oven which is NOT on for around an hour.
5. After an hour, the mixture would have risen and it means it’s ready to be fried.
6. Pour your cooking oil into a deep pot and when it’s hot, scoop in small portions of the mixture into the vegetable oil.
7. Fry till it gradually turns golden brown. (Note: the mixture is supposed to fry at the top of the pot. If it hits the bottom and stays down, it means the oil is too hot.)
8. Flip to fry on every side and once it’s all looking golden brown. Pick it out and place in a sieve to help you remove the excess oil.
9. After draining out the excess oil, your puff puff balls are ready for consumption.

Notes
*. The procedures are the same for either personal consumption or party/event.
*. You might decide to add a little bit of chilli pepper during the mix to give the puff puff balls a little bit of spicy taste, although one must be extremely careful in attempting this particular one so one doesn’t spoil the whole taste with chillies.
*. Pressing the hot balls to squeeze out the oil can deform the balls and is somewhat unnecessary as the oil will sieve out itself when the puff puff balls are still in their hot state.

Agriculture / Agricultural Policies In Nigeria: All You Need To Know by VastFinder: 7:18am On Feb 02, 2017
The Nigerian agricultural policies have undergone metamorphosis at several stages of the country’s development, starting from the colonial era to the post colonial era of 1963.

In the early part of the post colonial era, the country had a policy based on surplus extraction. This was later transformed to an export-led policy, which brought about an improvement in the economy of the nation. The western region was exporting cocoa; the northern region was exporting groundnut, while the southeastern region was known for oil palm.

Fast forward to the alter part of independence, the Nigerian agricultural policy inclined more on import than export, since the government has not really made convincing efforts to implement many of its rules and policies on agriculture.

Nigerian Agricultural Policies
Some of the policies are highlighted below

• Attainment of complete self-sufficiency in all basic food products placing emphasis on those foods that takes up a good chunk of Nigerians foreign exchange, like rice.
• Increase in quantity of agricultural-related raw materials produced to make them adequate for the industrial sector and remove the need for importation of such raw materials.
• Increase in the quantity of exportable products being produced in an attempt to increase amount of foreign exchange Nigerian earns on such products towards diversifying the economy with increase in export base.
• Modernization of all aspects of agriculture, like distribution, storage, processing and production. Implementation of proper management and viable technologies to ensure agriculture can meet with the needs and expectations of the other sectors towards further grooming of the economy.
• Provision of more rural employment opportunities through agricultural development towards increasing farmers’ incomes and bettering the lot of rural dwellers. This equally provides employment opportunity towards reducing unemployment rate.
• Improvement and protection of arable lands useful for farming and protection of all resources on and under the ground. Preservation of the farming environment to ensure sustainable production in agriculture.
• Establishment of all necessary institutions to cater for needs of farmers and promote farming. Creation of necessary administrative organs that can help facilitates the realization of all agricultural potentials of the country.

What needs to be done
In order to fulfill the dictates of the Nigerian agricultural policies as highlighted above, there is need to provide the right equipments to farmers and make machineries available to help alleviate some of the challenges encountered in the farming processes. The government is to improve on husbandry and also make seed stocks available.
Provision of improved seeds that can develop fast and also resist disease will equally go a long way.

Mitigating factors
Establishment of the Agricultural Development Program (ADP) is one move that sought to provide answers to the questions and worries of farmers. However, the ADP is presently a ghost of its past self.

Lack in the area of biotechnology, development and research is the bane of agricultural development in Nigeria. Biotechnology opens the door to new ways of doing things and ensures improvement in quality and quantity of food production.

Political unwillingness is yet another factor that has been acting as impedance to agricultural development in Nigeria and preventing full implementation of the dictates of the agricultural policies.

Family / New Study On How To Avoid Adultery In Your Marriage by VastFinder: 6:24am On Feb 01, 2017
Please note that you can avoid adultery in your marriage. It is within your power to do it, if you really mean it.

Carelessness is one of the major causes of external affairs in marriage not the devil in the real sense of it as many people always claim when they fall into error. So abide with the following simple rules and you will never fall into adultery.

1. Never make a member of the opposite $ex your best friend with whom you share intimate discussions.

2. Never be with a member of the opposite $ex at a time your spouse doesn’t know you are there.

3. Never speak evil about your spouse in the presence of anyone. They will know you are not happy in your marriage and take advantage of that by showing you insincere affections and give you what you lack with your spouse and destroy you.

4. Never visit a website you will not be proud to tell your children and wife / husband you visited.

5. Avoid keeping secrets from your spouse because affairs thrive in secrecy.

6. Avoid confiding in the people of the opposite $ex, there should be somebody of your $ex you can talk to. Don’t dig the grave of your marriage with your mouth.

7. Avoid collecting unsolicited gifts and favour from the opposite $ex. They will ask for $ex in return. They are not Father Christmas.

8. Avoid thinking that anybody is better than your husband or wife. You don’t know what their spouses are enduring at home. What you see outside is just show biz, don’t be deceived. Grass is only greener in the other compound because it is far from you.

9. Divert all your $exual fantasy towards your spouse. He or she is planted in to your life to satisfy you and keep you holy.

10. Always remember that whatever every woman or man has in his or her body, your spouse has it too and they are not different from each other, only faces differ it is the same package.

11. Deal with any $exual thoughts that is not directed towards your spouse, kill it before it kills you. $exual error doesn’t begin in the bedroom,it begins in the heart.

12. Before traveling have $ex with your spouse and put your mind to it that you will not have $ex until you come back. That decision may save your life and destiny.

13. Men, avoid looking at the front and back side of ladies and top imagining what is there. It is stupid, childish and dirty to do that, that’s called lust, what is there isn’t different from what your spouse has, please don’t misbehave sir.

14. Walk in the company of good and Godly men/women. If you keep company with adulterers, you will become adulterous.

15. Discuss your $exual desires with your spouse and let it be met at home, don't hunt for something that will hunt you later and hurt you deeply tomorrow, your wife/ husband has the best, get it at home.

16. Fill your heart with the word of God always, this will not give lust a chance in your mind.

17. Always count the cost of adultery, don’t just look at the pleasure, look at the pain, loss of integrity, how you will hurt your wife/husband, children, friends and above all GOD the almighty.

18. Always remember that the enjoyment, pleasure and the thrills in $ex is just 8seconds or less, it can not be more than that but its repercussions can last for eternity. Why trade eternity for 8 seconds, is there wisdom in that?

19. Pray regularly for your spouse and your marriage as well

Finally BE FAITHFUL TO YOUR SPOUSE AND YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU DID.

God bless your marriage (Home). Share this until it gets to all married couples. You may be saving a soul or a family.

Business / Steps: How To Start A Borehole Drilling Business In Nigeria by VastFinder: 4:54pm On Jan 31, 2017
Nigeria is a rich country with enough water, but there are places in Nigeria where access to portable water is scarce. Few people leverage this issue by starting their own borehole business in their area which is a profitable business venture. They know that water as an essential commodity is important and when it is scarce, people go the extra mile to ensure that they do all it takes to have supply of water in their homes, offices or even farms.

If you find yourself in such position, you can start off your own borehole business in Nigeria and make cool money from it. What you need do is to draw up a sample borehole drilling business plan, finance, hire equipment, employ necessary staff and start off. This post will help teach you how to start off.

The technicality behind drilling a borehole requires some form of training to avail one the expertise to run this type of business. This is because if you don’t know how things work in borehole drilling business, you are likely going to find it difficult to make profits and keep the business active.

In countries like the United States, the United Kingdom where there are laws that restricts the number of boreholes that can be drilled in an area due to natural hazards like earthquake, tremor, e.t.c which are caused by indiscriminate drilling of boreholes. Nigeria as a country is an exception in this regard.

Below are the steps that would guide you to effectively start your own borehole drilling business in Nigeria easily and start making profit:

1. Carry out a Feasibility Study in Different Areas of Your Choice
You should be aware that borehole drilling business don’t work in every place especially in the urban areas that are usually industrialized. You should first carry out proper feasibility studies to be sure that such business of this nature will thrive in such location. Other factors that would guide you when conducting your feasibility studies are the price of equipment needed, startup capital, and cost of running the borehole drilling business, e.t.c.

2. Learn the Technical Skills Required
As earlier stated, borehole drilling is a technical job and can’t be done by everybody but experts in the field. Aside drilling for water, borehole drilling companies are known to drill for gas and crude oil. So if you want to successfully start your own borehole drilling business, you should apply for training on borehole drilling in any college or university that offers such unless you want to employ experts who will manage the operations of your borehole drilling company.

3. Write Your Business Plan
After acquiring the necessary training and experience, your next step is to write a good business plan for your borehole drilling company. In one of our previous post, we covered how to write a good and professional business plan. The main reason for this plan is to give your business direction as it must cover the important areas. A good business plan helps attract serious investors to any business in Nigeria or even to request for a loan.

4. Register Your Business Name and Choose a Good Location
This is another important step if you are very serious to own a borehole drilling business. Ensure that you register the company business name before you start operations. Nowadays, the procedure in registering a business in Nigeria can even be done online. As long as you meet the necessary requirements, visit the Corporate Affairs Commission and register.

Also, choosing a good business location to establish your business is important. Choose a site that is easily accessible to clients who would need your services. Places nearest to construction sites should be a good place to start from as you might be contacted by various homes that might need to drill boreholes for various reasons.

5. Purchase the Required Equipment Needed
Honestly, the equipment involved in drilling a borehole minus its maintenance is capital intensive. Acquiring the required equipment is very vital if you must succeed. Some of the equipments that you would need to be able to start your own borehole drilling company in Nigeria include: Down Hole Drilling Rig or Boremaster 120 Hydraulic Down Hole Drilling Rig, Drag But Stock, Drill Rods, Drilling Rig Counter Weight, Diesel Engine with Hydraulic Power Pack, Safety Helmet, Safety Boots, Overall, and Hand Gloves and so on.

6. Hiring Employees
As with other capital intensive businesses, borehole drilling business can’t be operated by one person. You would need to hire both skilled and unskilled (laborers) employees. Once you hire your staff, ensure you make provision for their training (safety training inclusive) and insurance cover for them.

7. Advertise, Build Contact and Source for Contracts
Try to build a network of contact especially with construction companies. Although, there are several places you can source for contracts for your borehole drilling business. Places like construction companies, government, private homes, offices are some places you can source for works. Also advertise your companies on newspapers, popular websites, radio and television as you aim to expand your business as you start your own borehole drilling business and make profit from it in Nigeria.

Nairaland / General / Environmental Law In Nigeria: All You Need To Know by VastFinder: 3:07pm On Jan 29, 2017
The law of Environment are set up by the various and extraordinary organs of the government to compel Nigerians to look after their environments. As we all know, environmental safety is everyone’s responsibility.

However, the laws help compel people to be more responsible towards the environment where they live or do business. These legislations have proved to be highly effective instruments towards protecting the environment.

The laws equally contribute to environmental control, prevention, pollution and planning.

Summary of Nigerian Environmental Laws
The laws and regulations related to the environment are further emphasized through the following documents and legislations:
• The Constitution Of The Federal Republic Of Nigeria (1999)
• National Environmental Standards And Regulations Enforcement Agency Act
• Environmental Impact Assessment Act
• Niger-Delta Development Commission Act
• Federal National Park Act
• Hides And Skins Act
• Water Resources Act
• Factories Act
• Civil Aviation Act
• Bees (Impact Control And Management) Act
• Animal Diseases (Control) Act
• Agricultural Act
• Pest Control Of Production Act
• River Basin Development Authority Act
• Quarantine Act
• Nigerian Mining Corporation Act
• Nuclear Safety And Radiation Protection Act
• Territorial Waters Act
• Petroleum Products And Distribution Act
• Petroleum Act
• Oil Pipeline Act
• Exclusive Economic Zone Act
• Sea Fisheries Act
• The Endangered Species Act
• Associated Gas Re-Injection Act
• Hydrocarbon Oil Refineries Act
• Harmful Waste Act
• The Land Use Act.

Points to note
The Nigerian constriction, for one, makes provision for environmental protection and management in sections 12, 20, 33 and 34. Section 33 and 34 guarantee right to land and human dignity and it is said to associate with the necessity for safe and healthy environment.

In the national environmental standards and regulations enforcement agency act of 2007, there are emphasis in sections 7, 8 and 27 on the need for strong environmental protection. Section 27 specifically bans the discharge of hazardous or toxic substances or items into the environment. Anyone culpable can be made to pay One Million naira along with 5 years imprisonment.

The National Effluent Limitation Regulation equally gives strong indications regarding environment protection. Section 1 for example bans the release of any form of hazardous or toxic substances into water body, on land or into the air. Other relevant sections are sections 3, 4 and 5.

The Federal Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Regulations (1991) is yet another environment policy of the Nigerian government. Section 1 of this document places compulsion on industries to identify and isolate solid and hazardous waste materials that are dangerous to the environment and public health. It also compels the industries to implement possible recycling process on these hazardous products. Other relevant sections of the regulations are sections 20 and 108.

The governor of a state is saddled with the responsibility of managing and controlling all lands in the state. The governor is recognized by the Land Use Act of 2004 as the owner, manager and controller of all lands in the state. The governor is free to decide on which piece of land to allocate for agricultural, residential or commercial purpose.

Tested and retested until perfection is literally achieved. I shared this coconut rice recipe to all our readers and to those who always like to read about out recipes.

Despite I'm a Male, I consider myself a Protégé when it comes to tutoring on How to prepare dishes, I optimize my recipes for simplicity and incredible depth of flavor. all while producing perfectly cooked separate rice grains.

I already have incredible recipes for Fried Rice, Jollof Rice. This coconut rice recipe should definitely be added to your Fav Note.

Ingredients
*. 2 cups parboiled rice (regular rice)
*. 1 tbspn Coconut oil
*. One 400ml can coconut milk (preferably Thai premium)
*. 1 small onion .
*. 2 medium tomatoes
*. Spices: 2 bay leaves, 1tspn white pepper, 1 tspn minced chili, 4 sprigs fresh thyme (or 1 tspn dried), salt – to taste, 2 heaped tbspns crayfish powder, 1-2 stock cubes (optional)

Direction
*. Finely chop onion – set aside cut tomatoes into large chunks – set aside.
*. Mince chili pepper – set aside .

*. Place a wide cooking pot on medium heat. Add in 1 tbsp of coconut oil (subvegetable oil). Add in onion. Cook untiltranslucent and fragrant.

*. Add in tomato, minced pepper and spices. Stir. Cover and leave to simmer on low-medium heat for 10 minutes.

*. Add in coconut milk and one cup of water into the tomato mix. Stir. Cover and bring to a rolling boil. Stir. Taste and adjust for seasoning. .

*. Add in washed rice. Stir. Reduce heat to low-medium (4 on a marked cooker).

*. Place a sheet of foil over the pot. Place the lid over it and properly seal the edges with foil (this is a very important step).

Set a timer for 30 minutes and let it go! You have done all you can, let Jesus take the wheel here. Leave it alone! Don’t open the pot until time is up.

*. By covering the pot with foil & then a lid, you are able to get away with using less liquid. The rice grains are gently steamed & infused instead of being boiled. End result is perfectly separate & delicious grains.

Serve coconut rice with Peppered meat or chicken

Crime / 5 Most Infamous Female Serial Killers In The World by VastFinder: 6:57am On Jan 26, 2017
The mass believes only Men has are capable of committing Notorious crimes, most especially gruesome murders. Now you should be aware that some of the worst murder cases have been committed by women over the course of crime. Doubt it?? This post will shed more light on the most dangerous female serial killers in the world. These women did the unexpected, they were dangerous are were highly infamous for their crimes.

1. Gaetana Stimoli
Gaetana Stimoli, of Aderno, Sicily, was the architect of the killing of 23 children. Her style was to lure the unsuspecting children to her home with the promise of treats, once she had convinced her victims, the innocent children would go to her home and she would give them some wine with traces of undiluted phosphoric acids, which is incredibly poisonous to the human body.

The unsuspecting victims would then be sent back home, but just before they would get to their respective homes, they would suffer excruciating bodily pain which led to the inevitability of death. Stimoli was believed to have lost two children of her own and she believed that their deaths was as a result of some sort of bewitchment. Therefore in order to achieve some form of karmic balance in her mind, Stimoli sought to take the lives of other children to avenge hers.

This occurred in the late 19th century, when witchcraft was a somewhat prevalent belief in secluded communities. Indeed, when her home was eventually searched, authorities found all the stock-in-trade of witchcraft they needed to confirm her extensive crimes.

2. Katherine Knight
She is known as the first Australian woman to be sentenced to life imprisonment without parole, Katherine Knight was the brain behind the gruesome murder of her partner, John Price. The story behind his murder tells of how Knight stabbed the man to death, skinned him, and put his skin on a meat hook.

She cooked his head and various other body parts, placed them alongside vegetables on plates next to place cards containing his children’s names. Knight was planning to serve Price’s cooked body parts to his children.

Knight could have succeeded in serving the deceased cooked body to his children if the police did not immediately catch her.

The police found her knocked out on pills amid the horrific murder scene. During her trial, Knight eventually pleaded guilty to Price’s murder, though she never directly acknowledged the crime. When shown footage of the murder, she reportedly grew hysterical and had to be sedated in court. She is currently serving out her sentence at the Silver water Women’s Correctional Centre in New South Wales.

3. Mary Ann Cotton
The motivating factor behind Mary Ann Cotton seemed to be money, but it was surely not the final motive of her evil deeds. Mary Ann Cotton was responsible for the deaths of three of her four husbands, and she is thought to have murdered 21 victims in all, which includes eleven of her 13 children as well as her own mother.

The main instrument she used for her murders was arsenic poisoning, which caused great gastric pain and the speedy decline of life force in her victims. After a 20-year long spree of mysterious murders surrounding Cotton’s life, she was eventually arrested and put on trial in 1873. Mary Ann Cotton was convicted of the murder of three of her husbands and was sentenced to death by hanging.

The execution was not a smooth one; Cotton’s trap door proved to be too short, and she writhed wildly at the end of her rope until she eventually choked to death.

4. Myra Hindley
Myra Hindley’s acts of violence describes the sexual assault and murders of five victims, ranging from the ages of 10 to 17.

She connived with her evil husband, Ian Brady, and together they kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and murdered their young victims.

In one case, they visited a playground andasked a 10 year-old girl known as Lesley Ann Downey to help them carry some packages to their home. On getting there, they grabbed her, stripped the young girl nude, took photos of her before full-on sexually assaulting and murdering her.

The couple’s spree was eventually put to a merciful halt. Their trial began in 1965, which was quite lucky for them, since capital punishment had been abolished in England just a few short weeks prior to their arrest. They were sentenced to life in prison. Myra Hindley died in 2002 of bronchial pneumonia, while Ian Brady is still alive, carrying out the remainder of his sentience.

5. Mary Bell
The case of Mary Bell is uniquely horrifying in the context of this list, since she committed her murders when she was just a child. In 1968, when she was 11 years old, Mary Bell strangled two little boys to death in Scotswood, a suburb of Newcastle upon Tyne, in England.

The two boys were 4-year-old Martin Brown, and 3-year-old Brian Howe. Although the murder of Brian Howe had been allegedly committed by Bell and an acquaintance named Norma Joyce Bell (no relation), Mary Bell was the only one tried for the murder, as court-appointed psychiatrists declared that she displayed “classic symptoms of psychopathy”. Bell was given an indefinite prison sentence and was released in 1980, at which point she was granted anonymity and the opportunity to start a new life.

She would go on to have a daughter, who did not know about her mother’s haunting past until reporters eventually discovered their location.

Education / Solutions To Examination Malpractices In Nigeria by VastFinder: 3:19pm On Jan 23, 2017
Virtually Today, all levels of education in Nigeria is affected by examination malpractices. Even at the primary schools, the secondary schools and the higher institutions and you will come by various forms of examination malpractices. It has become their usual habit.

Purpose of this write-up is not to convince you on examination malpractices. But to seek solution to this menace that is negatively affecting education in the country.

Check below for some helpful solutions to examination malpractices in Nigeria.

Proper training of teachers is very essential to aid examination malpractices. When teachers are properly trained, they are able to deliver the lectures to the students in the most understandable manner.

Consequently, the students will understand well and be confident enough to write examination on that subject without having to cheat.

Students may be reluctant to resume to school after staying at home for a very long period. If the government can reduce the length of holidays and also increase number of times students go on holidays, then it may impact positively on the way students learn and this will have the long term effect of curbing examination malpractices.

Schools should have Guidance Counselors, who can counsel these students and help them find solution to their inability to learn. If they are properly counseled, students will be willing to spend more time on their studies and also perform very well during examinations as a result without having to carry out any examination malpractices.

Schools should also engage continuous assessment and this will help their students to perform well during examinations too.

Nairaland / General / Lesbianism In Nigeria: See Highlights And What You Don't Know by VastFinder: 1:59pm On Jan 22, 2017
What is Lesbianism?
It is a form of homosexuality among females. Some are of the opinion that it is a normal thing, but the truth remains that there is no biological, physiological or anatomical support for this idea. It is equally certain that living as a lesbian is a direct disruption of physical, natural and spiritual laws.

Lesbianism in Nigeria and several other countries of the world is outlawed; that is, it is illegal. Anyone found involved can end up in jail. Many of the western worlds on the other hand seem to see from the other side of things as they are promoting the idea of Lesbianism; they even seem to honour those who live such lifestyle.

Coming back to Nigeria, how common or otherwise is lesbianism? Truth is one cannot actually give a straight answer to this question. This is because many of those who are involved in this kind of lifestyle do not come out to the open, especially since the Nigerian government, during the reign of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, had passed into law bill forbidden lesbianism. Many of those who are involved in it therefore do it in secret and do not come out to be identified.

However, there had been words from the raven regarding these things and those who are involved in it. In conclusion, one can only make conjectures as regards how common Lesbianism is in Nigeria.

• Lesbianism In Sport
Lesbianism is having a slowing effect on development of female football in Nigeria. He stated that occurrence of lesbianism is somewhat common in female football from a global perspective. He said many individuals who would love to invest in female football do shy away simply because they see the game as a place for promoting lesbianism.

Many sportswomen are said to be guilty in this regard. Not just female football is involved; there are a number of other female- related sports that are equally culpable. Be that as it may, one cannot say all sportswomen are involved. Yet, there is no specific data to give one a clear understanding of sportswomen involved in this.

• Lesbianism in Showbiz
Some of those involved in showbiz are equally guilty of being lesbians. There are actually some of them that have voiced out in support of lesbianism, claiming that it is part of human right. Just as it is the case with what happens in female sports, there is no specific data to indicate how many of them are involved.

Impact of religion
Nigeria is a deeply religious nation; whether or not the religious inclination of the country impacts our personal lives is discuss for another day. Religious inclination tends to curb such activities in the Nigerian society as many preachers frown at it. From the religious perspective, God made human beings as man and woman and he made man to naturally fall in love with a woman.

In actual fact, the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were both destroyed because of homosexuality. This line of tutelage tends to curb tendency of lesbianism among Nigerians to a great extent.
