You have a point because people who do right against all odds are also practicing a sort of religion but presently you can't use the same word to describe Christianity/Islam and other theologies that are non invasive because if you do that you will never be able to separate the wheat from the chaff. It's not fair to accuse the pastor of being greedy. The family is also being greedy by wanting to keep all the money raised.

The pastor did a good thing by raising the funds, and it's not the family's business what the pastor does with the leftover money. It's possible that the pastor kept the money aside for other useful purposes related to the family's needs.
