A homeless man with a taste for sumptuous meals walked into a five-star hotel, ordered a ribeye steak and a bottle of champagne - then left without paying. Michael Andrew Phillips, 52, ran up a £400 bill when he decided to treat himself to a sumptuous meal at the plush Old Court House hotel in Jersey. According to Metro, staff told him he was not allowed to remain in the bar without ordering food so he ordered prawn cocktail, ribeye steak and several drinks including champagne. The 52-year-old handed over his driving licence as proof of his identity but then walked out of the hotel without paying, taking the wine with him. He was tracked down and charged with criminally and fraudulently obtaining food and lodgings. Phillips, of no fixed address, admitted the offences at the island's Magistrates' Court. Centenier Amanda Wright, a senior elected member of Jersey's honorary police force, said: "He had prawn cocktail, ribeye steak, wine and a bottle of Dom Pérignon. "The bill was not paid and he asked for a room. "He gave his driving licence as identification and had two bottles of unopened wine on him as he headed toward the hotel room." Mrs Wright said that there was no sign of him in the hotel the next morning and no indication he had slept in the bed. Phillips was later arrested and positively identified by staff. He told police he had very little recollection of the evening... Full story - https://www.veeinsider.com/news/homeless-man-consumes-400-meal-at-five-star-hotel-then-walks-out-without-paying/

Hello, I created my wordpress blog months ago and getting a theme for it was the most difficult part, don't use any theme you find online, make sure you use "ThemeCheck" to check if the theme is a good one and also use "Google mobile test" to check if the theme is optimised for mobile device. I had so many links to 200 plus quality wordpress themes but I deleted it when I finished setting my blog up. You can use this one ( https://colorlib.com/wp/wordpress-newspaper-themes/ ) and also use Google to search for quality themes, AND MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE QUALITY FIRST. You don't even need anybody to tell you the one they like, just do the search for yourself and you'll end up with something you love. You can ask me any question you wanna ask, it's nothing helping out. One last thing, don't pay anybody for a theme that's free, most of them don't even know how to check a theme before using it, good luck. |
Full story - https://www.veeinsider.com/news/father-who-punched-newborn-daughter-to-death-is-found-dead/ A father who punched his newborn daughter to death has been found dead in his prison cell. Liam Deane, 22, punched and shook his two-day-old to death because she wouldn't stop crying. The 22-year-old was jailed a month ago for murdering his daughter Luna in July. The baby, named Luna, died in intensive care at Leeds infirmary after suffering “catastrophic brain injuries”. Deane was found dead in his cell at HMP Leeds on Sunday and another inmate, John Westland, 28, has been charged with murder. Flanked by a dock officer and two police officers, Westland spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth. He was remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday. Luna’s mum had left her with Deane while she went to get some sleep. But he lost his temper... Full story - https://www.veeinsider.com/news/father-who-punched-newborn-daughter-to-death-is-found-dead/

Source - https://www.veeinsider.com/news/house-of-reps-member-wants-killer-fulani-herdsmen-treated-as-boko-haram-members/ A member of the House of Representatives has said that Fulani herdsmen should be profiled and classified by the Federal Government as insurgents and be treated like the Boko Haram members. Istifanus Gyang, stated this in an interview yesterday while reacting to a statement by a sociocultural organisation, the Plateau Patriotic Youth Movement, asking him to face his legislative business and desist from playing petty politics with the crisis in the state. According to The Punch, Gyang condemned the fracas between soldiers attached to the Joint Military Task Force and three residents of Sopp community in Riyom LGA on October 19, 2017, in which three youths were shot. The newspaper reported that the legislator had accused the soldiers of “sexual harassment and deliberate shooting,” and the PYYM had asked him to “deliver practical dividends of democracy rather than play politics.” Source - https://www.veeinsider.com/news/house-of-reps-member-wants-killer-fulani-herdsmen-treated-as-boko-haram-members/ But Gyang said, “Anyone or persons saying that the attacks and killings in my constituency are a basis for partisanship and politicking must either be insane or is simply being insensitive to the bloodbath that has been witnessed all this while. “I take exception to such unfortunate insinuations. We must not trivialize issues that have to do with the lives of a people that are being hunted and killed as men hunting wild game. It is indeed sad and very unfortunate. “Today, one-quarter of Barkin Ladi LG and one-third of Riyom LG are under occupation by the very persons that were welcomed and accommodated by their Berom hosts . The narrative that the attacks are simply conflicts between farmers and herdsmen is no longer tenable. “The truth is that there is a quest by the herdsmen to forcefully acquire land and territory for occupation. Under this unfortunate development, the Nigerian state and government, which have the constitutional responsibility of protecting citizens from aggression have left the victims at the mercy of the marauding herdsmen. "These attacks have to be profiled and classified as acts of insurgency and treated with the same response as Boko Haram has been handled.” Source - https://www.veeinsider.com/news/house-of-reps-member-wants-killer-fulani-herdsmen-treated-as-boko-haram-members/

Source - https://www.veeinsider.com/news/five-nigerians-jailed-in-uk-for-fraud/ Inner London Crown Court has sentenced five Nigerians to jail in the UK over the theft of £610,000 from business bank accounts. According to Newham Recorder, the five Nigerians involved in the fraudulent act are Victor Oke, 39; Desmond Abifade, 25; Moses Kuye, 28; Melinda Mensah-Oke, 37; and Arinola Kuye, 27. According to the Newspaper, Victor Oke, 39, of Galleons Drive, Barking, used stolen data provided by Desmond Uyiosa Abifade, 25, of Henniker Road, Stratford, to falsely impersonate company directors via telephone banking. Once Oke gained access to the funds, he diverted them to ‘mule’ beneficiary accounts monitored by his partner in crime, Moses Kuye, 28, of Connaught Road, Silvertown. Melinda Mensah-Oke, 37, also of Galleons Drive, impersonated company directors when a female voice was needed, while Arinola Kuye, 27, also of Connaught Road, played the role of 'money launderer' for the group. They were snared after being spotted by fraud investigators at HSBC, who passed the case to the dedicated card and payment crime unit (DCPCU) to investigate. London police officers traced the calls to them, all five were charged with conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation. All five of them pleaded not guilty to the charge. Source - https://www.veeinsider.com/news/five-nigerians-jailed-in-uk-for-fraud/ At the court’s sitting on Wednesday, Victor Oke who used the stolen data provided by his cohort, was sentenced to four years in prison. Moses Kuye was jailed for three years and three months, while Melinda Mensah-Oke received a fourteen month suspended sentence and Abifade, a two-year suspended sentence. Arinola Kuye, on the other hand, got a 12-month community order and instructed to complete 50 hours of unpaid work. DC Dave Cass, who investigated the case for the DCPCU said: “This was a concerted effort to commit fraud against two companies and profit from crime”. “The police take fraud very seriously and these sentences should send a message to fraudsters that you will be caught and punished,” he said. All losses were refunded to the genuine business account holders. Source - https://www.veeinsider.com/news/five-nigerians-jailed-in-uk-for-fraud/

Chemist 'helped father die' by giving him smoothie laced with morphine. Read more: https://www.veeinsider.com/news/chemist-helped-father-die-by-giving-him-smoothie-laced-with-morphine/ A chemist helped his father die by giving him a fruit smoothie laced with morphine, a court heard. Bipin Desai, 59, poured a highly concentrated dose of the painkiller into a fruit smoothie prepared for his 85-year-old father, Dhirajlal, before injecting him with insulin as he slept. The 59-year-old who denied murdering his father, lived with his father, Dhirajlal, at their £1,273,000 house on the county's stockbroker belt in Dockenfield, near Farnham. Tapes showed him discussing making the fatal mixture after dinner on August 26 last year, while his wife and two children were away in London. Desai admitted assisting in a suicide and two charges of theft by an employee, relating to the insulin and morphine. He said: "My father was still having his meal and I said to him that I had made the mixture and he said ‘Good’. "I was feeling nervous, anxious, but I also felt that we had come to a time when it was the appropriate time to help my father. "I think over a bit of time he had been telling me to help him do something and it just felt like this was possibly the right time because none of my family were there. "We didn’t want anyone, especially my children, to see him." Mr Desai told the officers... Man falls four floors to his death after being 'caught molesting boy, 6' Read more- https://www.veeinsider.com/news/man-falls-four-floors-to-his-death-after-being-caught-molesting-boy-6/ A man fell four floors to his death after he was allegedly caught molesting a 6-year-old boy at a birthday party. Edgar Collaguazo, 44, slipped and fell out of the window from his fourth-floor apartment as he tried to escape the bedroom he had been locked in by the 6-year-old boy's parents. The drunk 44-year-old had been caught holding the birthday boy on his lap with his hand down the child's pant in the flat. "If he didn’t have a filthy mind, (he’d) simply stay and face the situation," his mother said. Collaguazo was said to have invited three children into his room to watch a film during the party. One of the children, a 5-year-old girl, came out of the room looking “different,” the boy’s mother told the New York Daily News. The girl’s mother looked inside the room and saw the birthday boy on Collaguazo’s lap, with the adult's hand down the child's pants, the Post reported. “She came to me frightened and crying,” the boy’s mother said. “We never thought the man had a mind this dirty.” The children's father reportedly began beating up Collaguazo before the victim's mother intervened. “I told them, ‘Stop beating him, already! I have called the police,’” she said. They locked Collaguazo in his room while... Read more- https://www.veeinsider.com/news/man-falls-four-floors-to-his-death-after-being-caught-molesting-boy-6/

SERAP wants Rochas Okorocha probed over Zuma and Johnson-Sirleaf's '1bn statues' Full story - https://www.veeinsider.com/news/serap-wants-rochas-okorocha-probed-over-zuma-and-johnson-sirleafs-1bn-statues/ A human rights advocacy group, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, has called for the probe of Rochas Okorocha for alleged abuse of office. SERAP on Sunday called on the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to look into the money Mr Rochas spent on erecting statues of South African President Jacob Zuma and Liberian President Mrs Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf in Imo state. The call was made through its executive director, Adetokunbo Mumuni. SERAP said both statues might have cost N1bn, adding that it was concerned that they might have been funded with public funds. According to the human rights advocacy group, “the spending on statues and apparent misuse of public resources may have violated constitutional provisions and international standards on code of conduct for public officers. The initiatives cannot be justified under any circumstances whatsoever, especially at a time when Imo state is unable or unwilling to pay teachers’ salaries and...
