The new Zimbabwean government has officially declared former President Robert Mugabe’s birthday, February 21, a public holiday. Mr. Robert Mugabe resigned last week after military and public pressure, ending his 37 year stay in power. Calls for Mr. Mugabe's birthday to be made a national holiday came after the government adopted the decision in August following intense lobbying by the ruling Zanu-PF Youth League. The party youths pushed for the birthday to be declared a holiday in recognition of Mugabe’s efforts in empowering the youths. Surgeons were stunned to find 263 coins and 100 nails sitting in the stomach of a man with suspected food poisoning. Maksud Khan, 35, was rushed into surgery at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Satna, Madhya Pradesh, with severe abdominal pains, leading doctors to suspect he was suffering from food poisoning. An endoscopy was performed to investigate the cause, but they were stunned to find hundreds of coins, 1.5kg of nails, dozens of shaving blades, shards of glass, stones, and a 6-inch piece of rusted iron shackle. Dr Priyank Sharma, who led the surgical team, said: "The patient was complaining of stomach pain, so we thought of getting an endoscopy done. "We were shocked to discover coins, nails and nut-bolts in his stomach. It's the first time we've come across such a case in our career. "This man looks mentally unstable as no sane person would do something like this." Doctors said Mr Khan worked as a driver and would often swallow coins given to him by customers. Amazingly, the coins and nails never caused any pain or problem initially. "The operation was done in the nick of the time as some of the nails lodged had pierced his stomach, caused bleeding and resulting in loss of haemoglobin," said another doctor who operated on Khan. Khan is now out of danger and has vowed not to ingest any of the objects again. Another Jezebel reportedly tortured and disfigured her 12-year-old cousin's body because she stole 'N50'. The 12-year-old helpless girl is currently in the hospital, suffering from the injuries she sustained from a hot knife which was used on her by her cousin, Bose Ola, on Saturday. According to LIB, on the day of the incident, Bose had accused Muyiba of stealing 'N50'. The helpless 12-year-old girl denied the allegation but later confessed she took the money to buy biscuit and water because she was starving. The 12-year-old who was only identified as Muyiba, was brought to Lagos to reside with Bose, her second cousin so she can further her education. Muyiba who spoke through an interpreter from her sick-bed said: “I saw N50 in the sitting room and I took it, not knowing that it belonged to Aunty Bose. "Later in the day, when she asked about the N50, I denied seeing it, but when she said she was going to punish me, I told her the truth and apologised that it won’t happen again. "I thought that the matter was over because she had accepted my apology. But she asked me to pull off my dress including my panties. I obeyed. She ordered me to lie on the chair. She brought out a cane, belt and stick for turning garri. "She called Brother Rafiu (her husband’s younger brother) to assist her and they descended on me. After that, she lighted the stove and heated a kitchen knife and started to use it to sear my body.” The helpless 12-year-old fainted in the course of the torture and was rushed to the hospital where doctors revived her. The inhuman treatment was reported to the police by neighbours who witnessed all that happened. The police wanted to handle the matter with levity, but for the intervention of the Crime Victims Foundation of Nigeria (CRIVON), Gbagada, Lagos, which led to the arrest of Bose and her subsequent arraignment at the Ejigbo Magistrate Court on one count charge of child abuse. Argentine football legend, Diego Maradona, is suing his ex-wife Claudia Villafane, and his two daughters, Gianinna and Dalma, alleging that they stole from him. The Argentine World Cup winner accused his two daughters of stealing £3.4million from him and has called for one of them to be arrested. The former Barcelona player also accused his family of transferring the stolen money to a bank account in Uruguay and also using the cash to buy property in the US. His 28-year-old lawyer claims that Giannina was in Uruguay for a 'few hours' in August, according to Spanish sports news outlet Marca. The lawyer said: "I say to you that she has an account in Uruguay, her child takes the money and puts it into another. "If that is the case, if there is money there like we think, then there is no option other than to be put in custody." Giannina responded to his statement on Twitter, saying: “They know where I live and they can come when they want. "Thanks for all the warm messages. A man has been arrested by the Katsina Police Command for allegedly raping and impregnating his stepdaughter. Hassan Ibrahim, 50, of Unguwar Tasha village in the Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State, was arrested for repeatedly raping his 17-year-old stepdaughter leading to her pregnancy, now in its seventh month. Police also arrested his friend, Adamu Idris, 60, who resides with him and his stepdaughter in the same house. The duo were alleged to have raped the innocent girl repeatedly for months. The spokesman for the state police command, Gambo Isah, who confirmed the development, said the duo would soon be arraigned in court. “The suspects have confessed to the crime,” Gambo told journalists. Police have arrested a Heathrow Airport security guard on suspicion of assisting a Colombian drugs cartel to smuggle £700,000 of cocaine into Britain. The National Crime Agency said the man, a 30-year-old from Southall, west London, was detained alongside a 37-year-old man from Colombia in the Terminal 5 bathroom. The 37-year-old was en route to Holland from Bogota. They both went into the airport bathroom and seconds later were busted by police who allegedly found the drugs worth £700,000 in a laptop bag. A 43-year-old man who is believed to be linked to the smuggling plot was also arrested in the airport arrivals area. A fourth man, aged 46, was arrested following a search at an address in east London. All four are being questioned... The Katsina Police Command has arrested three undergraduates over the murder of Abdulmalik Kabir. The male suspects, all undergraduates of the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, are two third year students and a second year student. The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Bensen Gwana, who paraded them before journalists on Friday in Katsina, said, “The police arrested the three suspects when they attacked their victim and inflicted serious injuries on him which led to his death. “The arrested persons caused grievous harm on their victim over an issue of girlfriend, in the month of November, 2017. “The victim died in a hospital while receiving treatment,” the commissioner said. A teenager who smothered a seven-year-old girl to death before slashing her throat with a knife to see if she was a 'robot' has been given a life sentence. Katie Rough died after she was smothered by the 16-year-old killer, who can't be named for legal reasons, and then slashed her with a Stanley knife in a park in York, in January. The defendant, who admitted manslaughter due to diminished responsibility at a previous hearing, appeared by video-link at Leeds Crown Court as Katie’s family looked on from the jury box. Katie was found with severe lacerations to her neck and stomach on a playing field in January and did not respond to frantic attempts to revive her. The court heard in July how the teenager was standing in a nearby cul-de-sac, covered in blood and carrying a blood-stained Stanley knife as she rang 999 to tell police what she had done. The judge was told she may have been trying to prove the youngster was not a robot, as she had ‘irrational beliefs’ about how people ‘may not be human and may be controlled by a higher and hostile force’, a court heard earlier this year. Prosecutors said she had reported delusional thoughts as well as depression, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. They said the girl had talked of being convinced that people ‘weren’t human and were robots’. Robinho has been sentenced to nine years in jail by an Italian court after being found guilty of sexual assault in a Milanese disco in 2013. The assault took place on January 22, 2013, when the former Real Madrid forward was contracted to AC Milan. Robinho along with five other men, have been found guilty of sexually assaulting a 22-year-old woman at a nightclub in Milan. The Brazilian, now 33, is currently playing in his homeland with Atletico Mineiro. Though he has been found guilty, the Italian justice system allows for several levels of appeal. Because of that, the verdict is effectively put on hold until the appeals process is completed and no sentence will be enforced until then. A woman who loves taking selfies is believed to have fallen to her death while taking a selfie out of a second-storey window. Toni Kelly, in her 20s, who was originally from Dargaville, frequently took pictures of herself after arriving in London from New Zealand in the summer. Kelly died in London on life support after suffering a serious brain injury. Friends and family are now raising money to bring her home and have set up Givealittle page 'Bring our Toni home'. They said Toni’s organs have been donated to 'help save other lives in the UK'. The money raised will help the family bring Toni home and pay for any extra expenses. Her family lives in Melbourne and are believed to have flown to London following her death. Her sister Stacey Kelly thanked girls on Facebook who had set up the page to bring her cherished family member home. An aggrieved mother in China has committed suicide because her son's fiancée was too short, according to a government statement. The 47-year-old woman's corpse was found on November 17 in a river in Ningling County, Henan Province. Her husband reportedly jumped into the river to commit suicide after seeing his wife's lifeless body and his son dived in immediately to save him. Both were immediately rescued by the police. Du Chuanfeng, a local police officer, claimed that her son's fiancée had asked her future in-laws to buy a new car, but the couple didn't have enough money to do so. In a post on The Propaganda Department of Ningling County social media account yesterday, the authority said the mother killed herself because she was unhappy about her son's fiancée's height. The woman has been identified as 47-year-old Ms Lin and her husband has been identified as 46-year-old Mr Gao. The statement read: "The dead person, Ms Lin, had disagreement with her son regarding her son's engagement. "Her son's partner came from the same town as the family. Ms Lin did not like her son's partner, claiming she was too short. "She threatened to kill herself." The woman's husband, Mr Gao, and her son are yet to release a statement. A bloody suicide attack by a teenage boy has claimed the lives of at least 30 persons in Mubi, Adamawa State after early morning prayers at a Mosque. The state police command said that the suicide attack occurred around 5:20a.m local time, at Kunu Araha, a suburb in Mubi North. It was triggered by an unidentified teenage boy who set off the vest he was wearing. Five people have reportedly died after consuming locally-made alcohol, also known as Ogogoro in Imo State. The tragic event happened in Imerienwe community of Ngor Okpala local government area of the state, at a popular drinking joint of one Uwadiegwu Eze, on Thursday. The deceased persons include: Friday Osuji, 70; Adanna Iheanacho, 60; Daniel Nwosu Jnr. 45; Ifeanyi Njoku, 31; and Benjamin Okoroafor. Nigerian army troops in Borno state Saturday apprehended a female teenage suicide bomber shortly after another one attacked the city. According to Naija News, at the early hours of Saturday, multiple suicide attacks occurred at the outskirt of Maiduguri metropolis, with two suicide bombers and a teenage boy killed while four others seriously injured. The suicide bombers who arrived the area fully prepared, strapped Improvised Explosive Device (IEDS) around their waist, were noticed by security guards and members of JTF around the area.
