TravelRe: What Motivates Diasporans To Relocate Back To Nigeria? by Vergil: 9:04pm On Jun 17, 2012
pauloman: Glad to know you finally found your feet in Nigeria, but your one year stint in Canada can not be enough for you to fully fully start living large in a western system that you are new to in every sphere of the word, even with your permanent residence status. You need to get yourself fully integrated into their system educationally, professionally, culturally and otherwise before you start reaping the economic gains and this my brother takes determination and hardwork.

In my opinion, lots of people erroneously think living in the western world is a bed of roses but on the contrary you need to earn your comfort by hardwork and determination. Most importantly you need to have a road map to what you want to achieve while there and even before you get there. It is also very important to set one's priorities right financially, spiritually and otherwise. These i feel are are values an immigrant needs to settle in and become economically viable and successful in your host country.

Your were not patient enough to reap the benefit of a working system
You actually believe he had the "papers" for it? See thru pple like him from the way they write. Loads of them on this site.
TravelRe: What Motivates Diasporans To Relocate Back To Nigeria? by Vergil: 9:02pm On Jun 17, 2012
Another Okija: Because it only dawns on them after spending time abroad that the grass isn't actually greener..

I am one of those who made that bold decision to return after spending 1 year in Canada (as a permanent resident).. I applied to all the big companies and they kept turning me down for one useless reason or the other. The county then employed me to carry dustbins.. Then I got another job as a construction site cleaner.. Omo life wasn't easy and that wasnt what I bargained for when I took up the offer to live abroad..

Then I saw a medical doctor that was flipping burgers at a mac donald, saw my friend who worked in an oil company that still had to work in a bank on his off days to meet payments on his credit card bills.. OMO!! I immediately realised that I just left a gold mine to come pick scrap metals..

The taxes back home are not as insane as it is abroad.

I booked my flight and returned home to a better life jor. We may not have steady electricity, but I have an inverter and a big generator and can afford diesel.. I may not have government water, but I have a borehole.. The roads may be ridded with potholes, but thats why I drive a brand new car so it lasts longer, the security may be bad, but thats why I also have a dog, a single barrel remington shotgun (registered).. and I have a job that pays for al my bills and leaves me enough to save..
Lmao! And you really thought pple would believe you @bolded words.

You spen 1 year there as a legit guy? Plzz...explain bow you got that paper? Under a year or you stayed there for couple of years before you got it. Cos I'm sure you don't get it overnight. You either had to babe been in Nige b4 u had it or in Canada b4 u had it.

Point is, what were u doing before then? What was ur status then, even if this is true?lol
PhonesOnly Glo Stealing Credits? by Vergil(op): 11:15pm On Jun 16, 2012
Ok, so I recently got my phone records of glo. And must say, they are ripping pple off!!! Taking mins anyhow out of the blue.
Called landlines several times and it would seem like, for it just ringing, I'm been charged 15 naira. Same with international calls. The call duration reads 00:00.

Wondering if its only glo or has anybody witnessed it with other network?

Glo, u lot are ok, well at d mo, no 3G at mine. Step up, service is ok. But credit stealing aint cool! Stop!

Laitesmart: Exactly! Guess u understood what this is all about!
Ofcourse I do!

Pls, do update us (me), on the decision he takes. Ok?

I know of a situation, similar to this if not exactly. What the guy did to help him cope was to ask every question under the sun about the two of them from the girl and did "recon" work on the guy, trying to find everything.

He realised, he was, I think the girls 3rd of 4th guy, that d fucck with the d friend of his wasn't nice, boring and that she wouldn't yield/give in to that friend of his everyneed. Unlike how she does to him. So basically, he happened to be "a first" in somethings with her. But OBV not firrst in bjob or crazy fuccks.

So, ask/find out if DAT friend of urs could find something to make him cope when looking at the girl and not thinking/imagining how his friends cum was dripping down her mouth/lips...ooops. Basically, how she was with him or vice versa.

And also what happened between them. Why they aren't together if she was sooo nice. That might help him be st ease with it. If the answers are favourable that is. Or..best thing would be to let the past be. And shove the ego into the back seat...temporarily.

TravelRe: What Motivates Diasporans To Relocate Back To Nigeria? by Vergil: 3:15pm On Jun 16, 2012
drzed: You have a good argument. However, it is also true that a lot of people wake up at 4.00am in Lagos just to be a molue conductor or sell Gala on Falomo bridge. Would you say their lives are better than every village dweller? Maybe, maybe not. It depends on which villager you are comparing them with, and it depends on what options would be available to them if they returned to the village.

Some people want to be in Lagos just for the heck of it. A fairly decent choice that we must all respect. Many others are in Lagos because they are actively supporting younger ones and aged parents in the village by waking up at 4.00am either to sell Gala - or work in a Bank. Hence, the same way people get up by 6.00am just to get to work in New York, London or Toronto....and they still support people back home in Nigeria, regardless of their skill level or salary. There is no option that is better or best. It all depends on the individual and his unique circumstance.

Where you live, work or call your home is a matter of choice or circumstances. Its not where you are from, but where you are -that really matters in the long run. Otherwise, most of us should vacate the towns and cities where we live/work today and relocate to our ancestral villages or hamlets. Are some diasporans better of in Nigeria? Most definitely. Are some Nigerian city hustlers better of in their villages? Most definitely.

Every choice in life has its consequences.
Man drzed,
U my guy are a smart, clear minded guy. All these jokas, maybe they're being paid or something, dunno. They make it seem all is rosy in Nige. Atleast, those toilet washers u spoke of can get to and fro from their toilet washing job in peace and stressfree. What wud u say about the office guy who always has to go thru stress to get to work. I mean, in the name of fairness, now compare the same toilet cleaner in nige, prob now staying in a "face u face u" building or under the bridge. Government don't even give too shit about him/her to offer them a quality roof over his/her head, help take care of the kids they carelessly bring into the world, when they know no much income. Then only to wake up next day for the next round of stress which includes running after the bus, prob hanging on the bus, inhaling the acrid, black, smoky, colloidal, exhaust fume belching out of the bus E-T-fukin-C.
Boy, don't even let me go on maan! And u wud probably want to say, "so what, its ur country". Same dumbb country d leaders dnt give too shit about or heck most of d civilians don't either. They'd rather fight for their own survival, even if it is at the expense of their neighbour. Prob do it to their face too, telling d neighbour, "u are slow" so on and so fort.

To answer the question: the reason some pple come back is cos of greed (which started from what they've been told by the "come back home" crusade), ego/hatred for the "land owners" aka white/Japanese/etc man (which is also stirred up and multiplied gr8LY by this same crusade), the genuineness to actually want to help the needy/country/give back AND all what the second poster (reply) on this thread said!
TravelRe: What Motivates Diasporans To Relocate Back To Nigeria? by Vergil: 2:46pm On Jun 16, 2012
Da Mayor: Thats not true. Isnt Nigeria our country again? so person no fit just say "I want to go home"? You make it sound like they had no other choice. Theres plenty of good reasons to go HOME.
Ooh it is true. Classicalman is right! 2BH, no matter how much noise pple make about, "come back home this, come back home that". Reaally don't think pple would yet. Don't get me wrong, that message has deffo been heard loud and clear. Its already making some pple actually consider it.but know of pple that actually thought, sure..why not. Only to come bak and run away again in after the 3rd week or so.
Some pple are just not ready yet to live less than the way they've been living all in the name of, "fake patriotism". The country should try match the way things are over there. And the country would sell itself.

And at the same time, u lot shouldn't try to demonise or try to paint in black the life in those countries. Cos, must say, pple who have papers and no of the opportunities available to every legal/legit nigga, know how funny some of u lot are AMD they're simply smiling, shaking their heads.

Be Real brraaaaa! And open ya mind!
RomanceRe: Should He Marry His Friends Ex? Advice Pls. by Vergil: 12:29am On Jun 16, 2012
ijebabe: I did say it's embarrassing because I know it is but is that enough reason not to marry her? She might be the best thing for him in every other way and just for dating his friend he lets her go?? As long as they have no feelings for each other there shouldn't be a problem. If the man decides to go ahead and marry her he should know that his relationship with his friend will be strained. It'll be silly for the guy to choose his friend over his woman because that friend might be in a relationship with someone else and very happy in it.
It's his decision anyway.
For some guys, it really is. Ego plays a huge role in some guys life. It takes a matured and insightful mind to look past it. And a situation like this, is a huuge ego scratch.

Yh. Curious tho. I know its likely to happen. But why should/would the relationship with the friend be strained? Solely cos the guy has "tasted" it? Heard her moan? Cumd in her mouth? Seen her naked? Sucked on her titts? Splashed his DNA all over her? Fukd her in every position imaginable? Etc etc! Maaan..aint that easy! From a guys pov anyway.

Hmmm...but, if they're happy together, I'd say all that's trivial (like a guy once said). And should go ahead

...or is it?
RomanceRe: Should He Marry His Friends Ex? Advice Pls. by Vergil: 10:11pm On Jun 15, 2012
ijebabe: See stupidity, he's considering not marrying his woman because his friend dated her years ago.
Its painful and embarrassing to know ur friend has been down that road but its the past and they should all move on. Or did the friend say something else about her personally that we don't know?
Did she come to him a virgin and vice versa? What if the situation was the other way around? When he was fccking her wasn't it sweet? So now her pussy is tainted?
The guy should do the 'stiff upper lip' and marry the girl! Life is not always how we want it to be.
Trusst me, easy to say when u a female lol!
Its a known thing girls dnt have an issue with it per say. Guys do!
RomanceRe: Should He Marry His Friends Ex? Advice Pls. by Vergil: 9:27pm On Jun 15, 2012
Yh, I'd say go ahead too. But it can be a lil pinch to know d guy has been "there".

But guess love is what matters. Its like only difference is, cos he knows d guy. If he didn't, he wouldn't even break a sweat thinking about it.

Life eh n complications.

Think he shud try out grow it.

Funny cos, know of a situation kinda like this too.
Qstn: if he doesn't, can he find another he'd be (more)happy with? Since there are other girls.

Pls update us ok. Me especially. Like to know d outcome

donclemo: in all this country you mention most people dont buy it with a months salary infact salaries are mean to pay bills every month. the good thing about this countries is that they have credit facilities so must people buy things on credit and can pay for years that's what credit card is meant for.
Cmon man!
Don't even know how to say this.

U lot and bills Bills bills. Eaaasy!
If I didn't know how things work in these countries, I'd prob believe you. Fair enough, some bills. Mate, point is, with an entry level job...a guy could get this with his monthly pay or month and a half pay.

Heck, pple working in McD, flipping burger full time can too.
Some pple can plan their expenses well, not to drown themselves in bills.
So the statement of "use their wages for bills" aint daat accurate ACross d board.

But, I do agree with some pple using their credit cards/overdraft. But u should know, most don't.

Students will tho...deffo lol! They'd prob be d first to get it on student loan. I'm sure they're queueing now lol!

So, asides credit. Assume no credit in dis life....point is, who would be able to get it easy, without breaking too much sweat or sacrificing or heck saving MONTHS of wages? Pple in Nige or those countries listed above?

That's my point!

Foreign AffairsRe: Why Is England More Developed And Stable Than America? by Vergil: 3:55pm On Jun 07, 2012
cap28: Britain is a class based society - the elite have a vested interest in keeping the working classes and the underclasses poor and uneducated. Why? because they need to have a reserve of poorly educated low paid labour they can draw on to do the low paid jobs. That is why they have a two tier education system which ensures that the poor will never have access to the type of jobs that the elite have access to. They give the poor just enough to get by. What is the point of criticising people who you have condemned to a life of poverty? If britain were serious about creating an egalitarian society it wouldnt have a two tier education system - one for the poor and one for the rich. This position is glaringly clear with the tories and liberal democrats decisions to increase tuition fees for university students it is now so obvious that they want higher education to only be available to the rich.

Look, the situation is going to get a lot worse for english people let alone nigerian immigrants - if they havent provided jobs for their own people why would you think they would provide jobs for nigerian immigrants irrespective of their qualifications or work experience? The tories are not interested in elevating anyone other than members of their own class (and race), you obviously dont understand them.
Cmon..guy! You into conspiracy theories now?
