TravelRe: London Metropolitan University's Visa-Licence Revoked by Vergil: 3:15pm On Aug 31, 2012
justwise: If they have finished their course the certificate remains ok but their immigration record will still be a prob.

They can get their licence back by cleaning up their house, vet students properly, keep track of students who does not attend lectures or show up at all after they might have arrived in the UK.
Immigration record? How? Guess it would only concern them KF they intend on going back for visit. But, if they do, on what grounds will they be refuseed?
TravelRe: London Metropolitan University's Visa-Licence Revoked by Vergil: 2:08pm On Aug 31, 2012

Yh meant if they had already finished their courses in the school. So it remains ok u meant to say?

Wonder what they'd have to do to get their license back.

But the citizen can choose to leave the country. Travel back to see his/her relations every now and then. Especially since this citizen had his/her education elsewhere. This citizen should also send his/her kids away from UK, to have all their education elsewhere, preferably Nigeria. University education inclusive.

Don't you agree?
TravelRe: London Metropolitan University's Visa-Licence Revoked by Vergil: 1:57pm On Aug 31, 2012
So what happens to the certificates of those students who weren't legit when they studied there? They can't render their certificate useless. Can they?
TravelRe: London Metropolitan University's Visa-Licence Revoked by Vergil: 1:02am On Aug 31, 2012
Chedarking: I honestly cant understand why any foreign student will want to study in the UK anyway.
You cant work afterwards here.
Your degree is less impressive cos employers back home know you must come back...
You just come here and waste your money in the name of 'foreign' education.

And untop of all that, the UKBA can decide to deport you without letting you finish your degree...for NO crime of yours!

Brethren please stay back in Nigeria or go to the US/Australia/Anywhere we can influence the price of Garr1 in the market!
What are you doing in the uk?

Study elsewhere, if its study. Try to.

U lot are funny. Surely what he did was wrong. He is in a position of government, yet bidding. Cmon, he knows its wrong, yet he did it. So, he's obviously doing what's inevitable.
Its probably part of the competitors that found out and forced him to resign or threatened to use it as blackmail.
And u all going hunky dory!

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Vergil: 12:35am On Aug 27, 2012
Vicjustice: You make this analysis based on your opinions, but bear in mind that Visa Officers are trained to have suspicious attitude and to dig for any reason to refuse visa rather than reasons to approve it hence if visa applicant is 95% convincing, and 5% questionable, he would be refused the visa based on the 5% error.
I don't think the money that it would cost to apply for a new passport exceeds the cost of a failed visa application.
As a married woman who has a marriage certificate in which she signed to bear her husband's surname, her Passport with her original surname is thereby invalid. That is it.
I'm sure most approved applications haven't been 100% convincing and 0% error. Think from the lady's angle, it makes sense and its advisable to do so. But if it was the other way round, it aint as straight forward. Why? Cost, time (people could be in a hurry; have deadlines etc) etc. Most times, ECO discretion plays a pivotal role.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Vergil: 11:10pm On Aug 26, 2012
Vicjustice: To answer your question, the same might not apply to the husband, but common reasoning will tell us that there is no way you can get a visa if the deciding officer has some doubts about your (sponsoring) wife's surname situation
But why would any reasonable person give a Visa Officer an occasion to doubt his marital relationship, or subject his visa application to an argument about surnames?
But why also would there be any doubt when a marriage certificate would be included? Like the initial person said.
I understood her issues. Since she is in Nigeria, she is the applicant and she got married in Nigeria. I can understand why it would be a good idea to update her passport.
But I just thought, what if the exact opposite was the case. Her husband is in Nigeria, he is the applicant and they got married in Nigeria. Surely, the marriage certificate would now have to be taken abroad (assuming she has a foreign passport), just to update her passport, and sent back to the husband to include in his application. So, as the sponsor, she'd be making use of an updated passport to compliment his application.
I'm sure the visa guys would have taken this into account and cos of this, there won't be any issue regarding surnames in a scenario like this. Since it would not only take time but cost more too.
Wasn't sure, figured I ask. Just wondering really.
To conclude, I'm thinking if it was the husband that's in Nigeria, maybe (like you said) this won't be an issue (surname; passport update).

Get me?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Vergil: 2:46pm On Aug 26, 2012
Sure if its over 20 working days (a month) past its usual time, that's not exactly normal is it?

If its past the usual time, think I've read somewhere that you're allowed to call up and enquire about it.

I'm assuming 15 working days is the usual time. Yes?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Vergil: 1:51pm On Aug 26, 2012
Vicjustice: It's actually discouraging to have to pass through all that just to update your passport
Anyway, by standard requirement, your current passport is invalid due to the change of Surname; you can't apply for a visa using your (now) Maiden name as Surname; your visa application would be refused for identity reason: you are required to report your new surname to the Passport Issuing Authority for update, and to present both the old and new passports to the embassy when applying for a visa
Hmm..so what happens if its this lady's husband that wants to apply for the Nigerian Visa. And since she'd be the sponsor. Would her husband's application be at a disadvantage because her passport still has her maiden name instead of her husbands surname? If u get my msg. Curious if the law applies differently.
PoliticsRe: Ago-Okota Palace-Way Road Construction By LASG (Pics) by Vergil: 6:36pm On Aug 23, 2012
Hmm....
This sure has been needed for a long time. Good something is happening.

What you don't see in the pictures is the corruption that has affected the road, "majorly".

A road that's meant to be as wide as the Amuwo-Odofin connection, is soo narrow in comparison to the round about end (which leads to Cele, Isolo etc) and the Amuwo-Odofin road.

If the width was maintained throughout the length of the road....ooh my...it would have been beautiful.

But NO!

SOTAJ: i have filled the appeal form and addressed every issue that was raised in the notice of decision do. where do i send it? is it to the BHC or do i post it directly to the tribunal in uk. am confused i have 7 days to go

@Prisca1.Why don't you just reapply outrightly instead of the appeal, having done all the necessary corrections?

I could remember earlier this year, my son's visa application was refused based on some errors as a result of the way one clumpsy VFS lady handled the package. Having sent a complaint letter to the British High Commission, we just included what was requested for and reapplied straight instead of appealing, lo and behold, my son's visa came out after just above 5-6 working days.

So, I'll rather you reapply after addressing the issues raised.

My 1 cent though.
What?! So the staffs at Uk-VAC would make a mistake and the BHC would blame u for it. That's just unfair.
How did u find out the mistake was from the staffs at UK-VAC?

gbadexy: These chinese people are behaving like the former soviet union.
I doubt if the chinese government and indeed the chinese people see these competitions as an ordinary event, I feel they are bent on being the strongest economy and country in the world and they are seriously competing with america in all aspects.
I can only wonder what pressure there athletes, beauty peagents , etc would be on.
China is trying to make a statement, but whatever it is they are doing back at home, it is producing good results.
Lastly, its not as if the chinese people that participated in previous olympics and beauty peagents were different from these present crops, rather it shows that a determined and disciplined leadership can make the people sit up and attain there inherent potentials in all aspects of life.
Well, the Americans tried it with the British. Obviously, didn't get to do it 100%, cos the British are still strong.
Now, its Chinas turn. Don't worry, the world won't end. I predict after it would be Russia again. By then, our grand kids would be saying exactly the same thing you're saying now.

LOL but true
U must hate d uk. us too? And maybe other developed countries u haven't got the chance to build a life in, yh?
