Christianity EtcGetting Back On Track by Vergil(op): 5:50pm On Apr 30, 2015
So,

I was in a relationship for 7 years - there about. Prior to this, I used to by really positive, optimistic and most of all - quite prayerful I must say. Was so used to praying etc.
I believe the girl - who I married (but that didn't work out - another story entirely) - has in some way made me slightly less positive, optimistic and finally less prayerful. In fact, these days, I almost see prayer as a chore. I occasionally fall asleep or wander of in thought during prayer - like go off track then finally regain 'consciousness'.

Why am I writing all this on here?? I need help getting back to that spiritual state I used to be in. The state I was able to achieve thanks to my time in Nigeria - my boarding school years etc.

Tried going to different church, but it ain't really helping.

Any tips guys?

Cheers. Await all response.
PhonesRe: Airtel BIS Service by Vergil: 7:14am On Sep 27, 2012
Seriously? 1.7 GB?

Why worry when you can have unlimited?

Really wish you lot would just leave all these networks, so they too would offer unlimited data like Etisalat!
PhonesRe: Airtel BIS Service by Vergil: 10:16pm On Sep 20, 2012
For all u "doubtful thomas"

www.etisalat.com.ng/faq_blackberry.php

Click on the line related to "Data Cap" second to the last, I think.
PhonesRe: Airtel BIS Service by Vergil: 10:13am On Sep 20, 2012
Torrent? I'm guessing u plan to connect ur phone to ur laptop eh?

If so, don't know if etisalat allows that. But even if they do....Guy, easy na. Hope, they wonnt stop it cos of y'all. Planning to use it for torrent n all! Be considerate. Instead of downloading movies >480p, download mobile versions etc.
PhonesRe: Airtel BIS Service by Vergil: 10:43pm On Sep 18, 2012
Chitexs250: I know that already and what I mean is that I need unlimited download for 1 month subscription cos Airtel bis just comes with 1 gig only and is not enough for me hope u get where am going now
Guy! Guy!! Guy!!! Etisalat! Unlimited!!!
That's if the bis thingy works on iphone.

To test, get daily. Then come back here and give ur testimony. A day costs just N100.

That network is an un-discovered diamond!

Only "iffy" thing about them, if u stay on that daily for a loong time. When u try to reload N100 the next day. They could just steal the N100 for no reason. Then you'd have to get another. But this is very rare tho. BUT, I'm sure when u use them for a while, ud get monthly and not worry about that.

Try it, N100 for a day. *499*3*2# (I think, for daily)

Bad journalism at its best.

Typical!

These writers should stick to writing articles from the Nigerian entertainment industry. They can twist and turn it there, not politics
Jobs/VacanciesRe: May & Baker Nigeria Plc Recruitment 2012 by Vergil: 4:21pm On Sep 15, 2012
So, what's with the experience requirements?

Do we really have to consider them? E.g.:

"Electrical Engineering with at least 5 years
cognate experience in the pharmaceutical/
manufacturing industry."

" at least two (2) years experience or City & Guild
certificate in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with at
least three (3) years experience preferably from a
manufacturing plant."

Does the above in quotes mean, any less, experience-wise, u won't be considered?

stagger: Where in my post did I say that I eat KFC ALL THE TIME (as in three times a day, seven days a week)? Some of you just hit your keyboard faster than your brains can reason.
Ahhhh man! And u say, type faster than brain can reason. Think that "some of you" includes u guy.

By all the time, one could argue I meant once a week, twice a week....heeck thrice a month. Cmon....aint it kinda subjective.

Was referring to this statement u made:
" I mean taking someone out in any fast food joint in Naija and ordering food for two comes to that amount"

You say ANY fast food and I was pointing out that it aint reaally ANY fast food. Was pointing out that in other fast food "joint", you can get the meal cheaper than that amount. You'd also get it cheaper if you plan on getting the same thing from KFC (i.e. Chicken n chips). Hence d price break down I wrote. Haven't been in a lot of fast food places in Nige, but the few I've been in.....cmon, can spend less, FOR TWO!

Shzzz!

PS,I aint disin U
That's a very wrong thing to say. So are you saying some of those pple of families he spoke of aren't working hard? Aren't sweating blood daily, 6am - 6pm? Talk proper man!
Actually kinda dis-appointed and annoyed at your statement. When I'm feeling down for some of these pple, you are, in a way, talking down on them. All cos u seem to think u have it good.

Came to Nige almost 2yrs ago now and I've seen things that almost makes me kinda teary. Served with an oil company (the staffs makes enough money to take care of them selves, not including the contract nairas on the side) and you have the drivers on about N30-40K monthly. Same amount of money I almost spend on trivial stuff, recharge cards etc. Felt bad and stopped spending unnecessary asap! Big boy/girl attitude, not giving a shyt about ur fellow pple, giving reasons they don't work as hard as you.
You'd probably would go on saying they didn't work hard in school or work hard enough to enrol themselves in school or wot not. Heck, you'd prob say (like most pple on this site say), they aren't business ready; they should start their business etc.

Guy, think a little deeper before you write something...aite? *bigger circles.....psssh plzzzz*

stagger: On point!

Honestly I do not understand it. How is N3,200 beyond the reach of many? I mean taking someone out in any fast food joint in Naija and ordering food for two comes to that amount, so what truly is the big deal?

Anyway I am not surprised. This is how the foreign media write nonsense about Nigeria. Yet I have many Israeli, European and Asian friends and acquaintances asking me about investment opportunities in Nigeria every week. If Naija was so bad, how come others are rushing to come in?
You must be out of your mind!loool!

So, u always spend N3200 on kfc sized chicken with fries, all the time in Nige? Hmm

When u can get a bigger lap, portion of chicken in Tantalizers or dem other take away for N800.

Nige pple hype this KFC shyt waaay too much. Only thing I see priced right and is cheaper than KFC in the UK/US is the cone ice cream they sell for N100. Asides that, the others are just waay too expensive, compared to the price in the UK/US.

Heeeeck! You'd fkin get a plate of Nige fav dishes...Pounded yam, sorts of rice for less that price and "belle full".

Repeat, KFC in Nige is some rubbish ostentatious BS, for Nige pple!!!!!

Oya o.. Lie!!!!

ilugunboy: That is really profound and thought-provoking...

But when they come to African on tours...they hardly spend that much.
Maybe because, Nigerian/African stuff aren't in vogue.

We prefer watching western media, which is flooded with western-like goods. Which in turns make western stuff in vogue.

Not African stuff.

Also, u lot fail to realise the author (Monica Mark) is black. Maybe Nige, based in Nige. Reports on west africa for the guardian.

RomanceRe: Should I Stop Spending Money On Men? by Vergil: 9:53am On Sep 10, 2012
I'm sorry but this story is dumb. Did naira have to be the focus of her past relationships? The girl who had the issue probably has a funny attitude and figured giving naira would solve it, neutralise any negative reaction the guy might have. But from my experience, most girls who give like that are really worth it, wifey material. Except their bad behaviour/attitude overshadow their generous side and they keep count. There are a lot of "things" that constitutes a good relationship. Generosity surely is one of them. A stingy girl is a put off, but these days in Nige they are the norm. A place where girls expect you to get recharge cards....sheeez. But a generous girl is by far a winner. Just don't capitalise on that generosity. For a truly generous girl won't take into account all she's doing financially for her partner, she won't keep count. Else she has a motive behind it.
So OP, lesson to take from it is not, "don't spend on your man". More like, be the best you can be. If you have the opportunity to ease ur partner's financial stress, go right on.

*why would a girl advice another not to spend on her man? But 2bh, there are some greedy guys, like the girls of today. The ratio is just like 10(girls):1(guys)*

beyunce: i need your 2,3,4,5 cents etc.lol.so my friend's boyfriend will be sponsoring her to the uk for as a tourist. hez got 2yrz uk business visa and he is willing to give her his passport page as her sponsor and his bank statement too. but the only thing is that when he was applying for his own visa he applied as a married man and she is trying to figure out what relationship she should say her sponsor is to her. Family relative? or what? although i'm suggesting she say he is her bf, but she is wondering if that will affect their decision with the fact that he is listed as married.
Personally, she should go as childhood friend maybe. Is the wife there with the bf? If she is, could help by saying family friend (friend to the couple). Something along that line.

You know what, family relative should be ok. Since there's no way they could prove they aren't relations. Can think of anyway they can try to find out. Can anybody?

Best thing is to be kinda honest and just say friend. Maybe strengthen it by saying friend of the couple (this would be even nicer if they were both over there. Hubby n wife).

Ciao.
Nairaland GeneralThe Wright Bros. Credit....false? by Vergil(op): 5:05pm On Sep 08, 2012
Should all this credit about "Aircraft" be given to the Wright Bros. Or it should be revoked?

If you do some research on this issue, one would realise there were other players who achieved flight, before them. Heavier than air crafts too (still inconclusive on that). But their aircraft was winched and didn't take off by its own self (own power). But that of the French-Brazillian Santos Dumont did.

So, think its part of d american propaganda BS.

Cmon! All so y'all shud look up to the subject.

All up for promotion. But let the "hype" be based on truth man. Not lies aka alleged.

New weapon in Nige press: hype talk. Works wonders too. Only cos its a new-ish thing in Nige anyway, West Africa.

Vicjustice: If my memory serves me right, i think the 10 years ban system has been in effect since 2007.
And by the way, if you committed the fraudulent offence before the ban came into effect, you will still get the ban the moment you re-apply for a visa.
Hmm...are you sure mate?
Since the ban is kinda a law. And if it wasn't passed or put into effect in 2007. Don't think they'd issue it to him layer on. Since his application and the result would have been subjected to the laws Of that year, and not the next.

Is this stated anywhere, if I may ask?
