Calibrator:You might get a sense of where I'm coming from if you read this article. https://collider.com/what-happened-to-bruce-willis-career-bad-movies/ Below is a screenshot of an excerpt from the article. By the way, you have absolutely no idea how the film industry operates.
|
Gmajor:I'm not going to name names because I don't want to be second-guessed, which will surely lead to a pointless debate, so I'd suggest you look it up on Google and find out for yourself. |
BlackManta:I think Batfleck's Bruce Wayne is more CB accurate, but that could just be my bias. |
AnfieldFan:Looking very promising.

Richest Bruce Wayne: Ben Affleck Best Bruce Wayne: Ben Affleck Best Batman: Christian Bale Most Iconic Batman: Micheal Keaton
|
oyaskii:Sounds about right. I remember reading somewhere that he gets paid $1 million for these movies and that his part only takes a couple of days to shoot before he's gone and the rest of the movie is made. So basically, he's churning them out with the same studios, raking in the cash while avoiding any publicity tours. |
GloriousGbola:It's the hope that kills you. |
ShaqFu:Not with James Gunn in charge, chief. Gunn creates characters who strive to do good while grappling with their morality. Whereas some directors glorify flawed, bad people, Gunn usually tries to hold them accountable while allowing them to learn and grow; he lets them navigate their way home but doesn't change the locks. Suffice to say, if James Gunn directs, the outcome is always going to be complicated, which is why I assessed it would be a shitshow. |
oyaskii:According to rumors, he has early onset dementia and is working as hard as he can to ensure that his family will never have to work again after he kicks the bucket. |
100naira:I understand your point of view, but a single film is insufficient to justify the comparison. It wouldn't be fair, given that Batfleck had three films to help him flesh out and firmly establish himself as Batman. Ditto Bale's Batman. I reckon we will see Battinson fully come into his own in the sequels. |
GloriousGbola:I'm not saying it'll happen, but a guy can dream, right? |
GloriousGbola:It's more like The Avengers versus The Justice League. Why not both? The crazier it gets, the better. |
This crossover, directed by James Gunn and rated R, is something I really want to see. It'll be a shitshow, but it'll be fun.

Tell 'em, boss. ![]()
|
The rumours are true, these two are definitely bumping uglies behind closed doors.
|
A- is acceptable, but not earth shattering.
|
RayMcBlue:Colin was definitely the best part of this movie. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't find even a trace of Colin in there. I dunno why they cast him to play this character, but he did a great job.
|
phr0nesis:Where's the fun in that? ![]() |
phr0nesis:I was just fooling around, chief. A little trolling here and there keeps the world turning. ![]() I do like trolling the DC bots here because I recognize their strong aversion to criticism, but after all is said and done, I've a strong affinity for both DC and Marvel due to my background as a comic book fan. |
TheKingIsHere:The humour is subtly delivered and shows up in unexpected situations/places. It's of the high-brow variety, so it might be lost on some. The penguin (Colin Farrell) provided the bulk of the laughs. |
TheKingIsHere:She can be attractive and skinny at the same time; the two are not mutually exclusive. |
N2B2:Ironic considering you were the one that got defensive over a seemingly innocuous observation. N2B2:It's not so much about the questions as it is about the defensive/aggressive manner in which you asked them, chief. N2B2:Emotional? I'm not easily moved. I'm half serious the majority of the time, I mean, it's my schtick, heck, my username is a satire. I felt obligated to call you to order because your questions were so out of place and idiotic. N2B2:You keep going on about the "simple questions" but all I got was a couple of room temperature IQ questions that had nothing to do with the film. Go figure. N2B2:And here we go again with the merry go round of "simple questions", lol. |
IbrahimMav:I prefer star based rating system, and I'd give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. |
N2B2:First and foremost, have you seen it? If you haven't, how do you even know what you're talking about? Or are you a DC bot whose sole purpose is to reject all criticism, regardless of how reasonable it is? If you have seen it, then I feel compelled to remind you of a little thing called personal opinion. It would be inane to accept it as gospel truth. Furthermore, a little constructive criticism is okay. Aversion to criticism suffocates creativity and innovation. |
The Batman (2022) Very aesthetically pleasing; granted, the graininess is a bit unconventional, but you get used to it pretty quickly. The fight scenes are well-crafted and enjoyable to watch. There are no large-scale CGI battles, just fabulously choreographed combats, and a glorious car chase scene. The sound effects are also impressive; you can feel the impact of every punch. The mood is noir-esque, like I imagined. I liked how they took a more detective approach and didn't necessarily hold the viewer's hand in terms of clues and exposition. The film as a whole is a gritty and grimy portrayal of how a modern-day Riddler would operate, and Paul Dano plays him superbly. The pacing is choppy, and the three-hour runtime is a bit excessive. Some scenes got way too much attention, while others didn't. In my opinion, the third act's second half could have been handled more gracefully. Positives: • Visually pleasing • Noir mystery • Impressive action sequences. • Worldbuilding. • Commendable performances, with special shout-out to Collin Farrell. •The direction is very competent and professional. • The soundtrack slaps • Humour. Negatives • Pacing and length issues. • Robert Pattinson not given room for variety. His performance is relatively one-dimensional. It works for the film and the story it was trying to tell, but I was expecting something more profound, given his talent. Overall, I liked it, but I think my expectations were a little too high. "The Dark Knight (2008)" remains the undisputed leader for the time being, with this one falling somewhere between #4 and #10. I'll have to watch it again to fully grasp bits I may have missed.

oyaskii:The film industry as a whole can be extremely shady; the amount of money a film makes is never disclosed in quantified data, and the means of subsidizing production can be easily overlooked. Furthermore, it is less regulated than other consumer items due to the freedom that comes with making any movie you want. Consequently, If indeed the F&F franchise is a money laundering scheme, it wouldn't surprise me in the least. |
Kaycee7:This is the way.
|
AnfieldFan:It's all a charade. By the end of the film, he will be a reluctant hero and the newest member of Dom's ever-expanding family. |
...

I'm sure he'll be family by the end of the film. ![]()

"The Batman" is giving me a strong "Dune" vibe. A fantastic film in every way, and justifiably lauded in the reviews... but, many moviegoers griped about how long it was... As a result, ticket sales were negatively impacted. |
