oyaskii: "Hell or High water" (2016) Pretty good western movie that started of with two seemly dim wit brothers robbing a bank that spiraled into a chaotic sequence of event involving some witty dailogues and an interesting cop chase. Dodgy ending but it was a good watch overall. Your subtitle font isn't nearly big enough, you should make it bigger. Nice film, leant a few things. |

TheKingIsHere: I thought you said that you didn't have an alternate username? And this alternate moniker was create since last year.
Like i said, I know who you are.
You can deceive others, but take a look at this moniker cos you can't deceive me. Why are you congratulating yourself as if you've just won a grand prize? I mean, wasn't I fairly open about using a different username yesterday? I made an alternate username late last year and instantly forgot about it, and I only started using it 2 days ago because my primary login had been temporarily blocked. Sorry to burst your bubble, O deluded one, but there is no need for you to gloat. |

SMUAG: Not everyone. Those who are familiar with the character won't find it funny. That's the problem of The Rock, he never wants to go out of his comfort zone....... But why should he? He is one of Hollywood's highest-paid actors, thanks to being a one trick pony. |

webhead: Good news ke.
Disney+ isn't coming to naija anytime soon. (cos I'm sure that's where the shows are going). They'll almost certainly go to Hulu, as it could lead to additional Hulu subscribers for Disney, and Hulu would fit the shows' more mature tone. At the same time, I'd like them to be on Disney+ so that we can have all of the MCU projects on one platform. |

MJBOLT:
Cat has obviously got your tongue you have nothing else to say but to try and gaslight me it's a shame. So because I didn't talk about the Dwarven princess then that means I'm not upset or did you miss the part where I said they should stick to the script instead of pandering to blacks. The only hypocrite here is you because we all know what the reactions would be if white men were used to replace black characters,we all saw that in Gods of Egypt.
When they change a white character to a black one,it's representation but when they change a black character to a white one,it's white washing and racism.
All I see is a man who loves the white man a little too much. Anyway, I didn't want to get into the entire European folklore thing with you because it's a waste of time. You're practically salivating over elves with blond hair and blue eyes, so telling you he also took substantially from Arabian and Afro Indian (siddi) lore would be a waste of my time. Cheers. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by VerifiedStalin: 9:13am On Feb 11, 2022 |
MJBOLT:
That's not true, Tolkien middle Earth is deeply based on Ancient European folklore and Norse mythology, the names and elven languages are based on European origin and during that period there were little or no dark skinned people around. It has nothing to do with the time it was written,if they want major black characters in LOTR,they should do it the right way.
Since they want to do the whole representation shit, they should give us Asian Hobbits and just so you know Dark Elves in Middle Earth were not stated to be dark skinned, they were called dark elves because they refused to go into the west.
Seriously, chief? Your post is a sad example of hypocrisy. I don't see you throwing a fit over a Dwarven Princess with dark complexion and no beard. Which begs the question: why are you so fixated on a white Legolas when other changes don't upset you? How much do you loath your own skin? |
TV/Movies › Re: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by VerifiedStalin: 8:45am On Feb 11, 2022 |
MJBOLT:
was Legolas black in the books??you neva answer the question and that elf was created for the series, that should let you know Tolkien didn't have major dark skinned characters.
As I already stated, Black people were looked down on at the time Tolkien wrote the books, thus, relegating the blacks to the roles of Dark elfs, dwarfs, and other such creatures. However, times have changed, and many races that were formerly excluded from the books are now added to reflect contemporary events. The original Norse mythology depicts Thor as having red hair. It was changed to blonde by Stan Lee. Perhaps you should dig him up from his grave and inquire as to why. |

I detest arguing with self-hating, inferiority complexed black men who would rather have a white man play an iconic role, rightly given to a black man, in order to reflect equality of opportunity. |

was he black in the books??
That's the beauty of adaptations: they don't have to be exact replicas of the source material. The characters of Lord of the Rings books mirrored the sociopolitical climate of the time. Likewise, the TV series should mirror the current state of affairs. |
