About time you showed up here. We're in total disarray here. I will go AWOL and show up when JeSoul's marshall law has been effected |
Yeah, this is unnecessary aggravation. |
Of course she's 17. Very pretty 17 too |
Fantastic Mr. Fox is a recent obsession. |
Don't even mention that one's name. Shapeshifter |
That Kirk Thuglin. He's seriously not serious |
Any Given Sunday. Al Pacino, his usual fascinating self. Cameron Diaz only smiled say three times in this movie. That's gotta be a record for her. Not bad but not my cup of tea. Star freaking studded though. Don't take 'star' too seriously either. |
Taking turns to choose. It's actually more democratic and less wahalaish this way. This way you know you'll get to review at least one film you want to unlike getting outvoted everytime. We need a revolution o! |
Ah. I've succeeded in bringing you here. All is well that ends well, I hope. Enigma tries to ignore DS which is kinda impossible. Deep has a peculiar way about him jare. If he doesn't agree with you, just agree to disagree. I think that's best for your cardiovascular activity. DS, I think when you continually shimmy around issues, people will have a right to address your person. |
A girl who takes charge. Makes my day everytime, lol. V3 be more specific before you get the axe. I like this system. |
And to think I used to do peace keeping missions here. There's no keeping the peace here. I realised something from all this. This year is when I started getting active on the religion section. About two years ago, I had deep religious beliefs. Right now, I have very little. I don't mock people's faith because I understand what it is to believe in something only cuz you've been conditioned to. I'd think a thing before and promptly chastise myself for thinking it. Dumb things like that. So me sef, I'm apologizing to those I've offended because I don't share their views. But I also implore people to tell of their views less matter of factly. Frankly, that pisses me off. I'd like to see more 'I think' and 'I believe' prefixes. Thank you#Ok#Bye |
Parenthood and Men of a certain Age. Both really cool |
Review what eeeeeeeeee? |
Until Nuclearboy comes and say he accepts the apologies, they're still up in the air to me. @Pastor. Gbam. But not everyone is vitriolic and thus deserve the apology but they're queerly not the ones demanding for it. |
Hmmm. Rare to find Hoffman as the major star in any movie let alone something like Spiderman. I'm expecting a flop. Lol. Nic Cage and Kidman together? I think you can't survive both at once, cara. You better leave it alone. Me sef would. Ghostrider. Tschew. Ron has been hitting more than missing lately in my opinion. Jodie Foster can make anything seem good. I like the story even. The best of the lot, this one. |
I've seen Scarface, of course. It's just been too long ago. I couldn't have been more than 8. Haven't had the opportunity since. I've seen clips of that quote. It's ubiquitous and quintessential gangster talk. Glad you're ok, v3 |
Whatever man. People dying and coming back. What makes them different from gypsies? People may have 'died' and seen things but I don't think whatever they saw is of the afterlife because: 1. These dudes never see the same things. 2. If evil spirits were showing some of them the wrong picture, why did God allow this? 3. What's really the point? Why? They don't come back and become super men and women. It's all bollocks from a bad National Enquirer issue. Live your life. |
Eya. I don't really think any religion is the way. It smacks of exclusiveness and I don't think God is exclusive to any religion if any at all. I have not had any personal encounter with God though I believe in Him. What I did was dissociate from the religion I was born with and started studying. Thus far, all religions are full of 60% sentimental bullshit, 30% truth that you don't need religion to tell you and about 10% valuable stuff. Attune your mind not to simply hear what you wanna hear and sift truth from falsehood objectively. In my opinion, you can only be convinced something is untrue in religion. The truth is tricky. So keep an open mind. Do not waste your time on things that don't matter if it were true or not, such as things that happen after you die. You'll find out soon enough. Good luck. |
Your dick? Can it wave? Lol I have big friends. My desert eagle and the other one. |
I suppose the test tube baby, now woman, does not have a soul and she's half human if human at all and soon there'll be a flood or some suitable natural disaster to come get rid of her and her kind soon |
The guy effectively mirrors my reasons for believing in God. Richard Dawkins and his contemporaries have never convinced me of the initial creation of life. I can believe it getting better and better but it starting outta nothing is stretching it too far. I remember it being said that believing God created everything begs the question, "who created God?". I think one may treat this in two ways: say "I do not know" which does not mean in any way that you're wrong or ask in return "what was before the big bang?". The stuff for the big bang was highly unstable and couldn't have just been like that since time immemorial. Stephen Hawkings says whatever was before the big bang has no bearing on what is now. True, but that doesn't answer the question. |
Eww. I'm sure somebody is gonna get mighty rich courtesy this. Hope it's Sainsbury bread, lol |
Osanobua e! |
I don't even remember any of Scarface. I only remember thinking as a kid that cocaine made you impervious to bullets. You get hit but you don't feel the pain and thus don't die. |
This is just a matter of mistranslation jare. It ought not be an issue |
Unfortunately you're somewhat right. Though, 'real' Christianity and Islam don't accord him much power. Merely an agreement with God to cause havoc for a while. Some will even go as far as saying he's God's big stick, so to speak |
Then what would he be then? Though I find him to corky but I can't imagine another explanation. |
I have a few words but I'll restrain myself cuz I don't wanna 'dribble backwards'. Sometimes it's really too much to ask for people to argue like adults. I love the perpetual hard on analogy Nuke gave. Hi, InesQor! You're like fire extinguisher up here. Frankly I think it's pointless to continue on this thread. All I have to say is anti-intellectual is not necessarily a bad thing when intellectualism cannot fathom a thing. It's like taking the wrong tool to something. Finito. Spirituality cannot be approached with pure intellect |
What's more amazing is that I can bet my sixth toe that some people will still fall for this crap |
I'm afraid my peeves are not petty at all. I hate seeing any character depictions at all. Frankly, most books I read are either recommended or reviewed somewhere and I read about it or I like the author. I don't think I've ever bought a book just because it looked pretty. |
Seems interesting |
Enigma. Thank you for being so objective. That is a rare commodity. Nuclearboy and Thehomer don't understand each other. What Nuke is saying is that not everything that science cannot prove NOW is false. It may be shown to be perfectly possible later. What thehomer is saying is what we can't prove NOW is likely not true and why should we take some dude's 2000 year old word for it anyway. Trouble is thehomer is absolutist since he's probably not religious and Nuclearboy is absolutist (as per the Christian faith) because he's a Christian. To me both stances make some sense but the atheist standpoint is superior because a Muslim will be equally faithful and also a Hindu and all others. If as Enigma wishes we treat Christianity specially, thehomer would be right to ask why. The Bible and the Quran and all other 'holy' are essentially nothing above Shakespearan literature as far as non-believers are concerned. That's why I refuse to separate Christianity from the broad brush of religion for this would be special pleading. Now to the matter of miracles. Science deals with physical laws. As far as it is concerned, no law can EVER be defied. You can float in the air. Water cannot burn. There's no such thing as telekinesis. Etc. When any of these things don't happen as expected something else is at play and must be explained. But for some reason miracles never tend to happen in the laboratory. Going back to Nuclearboy, faith healers and their ilk are things that you largely don't subscribe to but it's not because you see it as impossible to heal someone by faith but because you think or know that the average faith healer is a charlatan. The very belief that it is possible is what I mean by anti-intellectual. So the koko is that people are anti-intellectual by degree. Some harmlessly so like me, Nuke and Enigma and most fatally so like suicide bombers, tithe payers etc. No science can explain God's ways. When the time comes, who knows what will newly constitute intellectual and anti-intellectual. |
