Christianity Etc › Re: How Many Different Gods Are There? by vescucci(m): 4:38pm On Apr 25, 2010
There's only one God. I think it's in our DNA to believe this. Some of us just ignore the instinct. Even idolators claim the idols are only media to reach God. So anyone who believes a mighty being beyond compare created the universe and its contents is right. It is the nature of this being that I think to be subject to personal opinion. Some people like to believe He is absolute LOVE and they say things like God LOVES you, God is WAITING for you, God wants to HAVE a PERSONAL relationship with you, etc. All these may well be true but I don't think God doesn't realise the infinitely simplicity of sparing us the crisis of faith. Me, I'm learning truths one at a time. Truths I'll never waver on. All else, I remain sceptical about. I believe we're not an accident. I believe we were brought about by an intelligent being. I believe death can't be the end. I believe there's right and wrong and we all know it. I believe there's only one God cuz the universe is frankly too peaceful. I believe we're not God's only creation. I believe sin is nothing but disobedience to God. He might as well have ordained us to commit adultery twice every day. Sin is nothing in and of itself. Etc. I believe God is just, good, loving, terrible, merciful, jealous etc not because He could possibly not be opposite but because He has no reason to. It's a case not of 'He can't' but of 'He won't'

Lol. It is a source of endless consternation to me when they talk of me being saved or needing saving. I often ask from what. They often tell me a variation of convoluted and misleading things like 'myself', 'sin', 'the devil' etc. But the truth is I only need saving from God or His wrath. And who'll save me? God! God will save me from Himself. All the rest is pathetic histrionics and more pathetic self hypnosis. Doublethink really.
Christianity Etc › Re: Going To Heaven Made Easy by vescucci(m): 3:00pm On Apr 25, 2010
Lol. Most atheists just like the ego trip of seeming beyond the petty delusions of the petty and average human mind. Well, the average human mind IS petty and pretty deluded not to mention extremely self centred but if I were an atheist, I wouldn't make it my life's mission proselytizing like a rabid Billy Graham trying to make other people snap out of it. I'd be busy getting away with all the stuff I could, suppressing my conscience, or what's left of it, to eternal slumber. But you fellas aren't real atheists. You're people who are desperately hoping to be utterly proved wrong. Real atheists are an embodiment of absolute, complete and total apathy that the last thing they care about is to win anyone over. They have a lack of belief. All these wannabe atheists have a belief system whose major article is unbelief. God exists. His nature is unverifyable and thus will be subject to endless speculation and hallucinations. He apparently likes it this way or he doesn't care, for it doesn't take half the universe's energy juices to make himself manifest to us beyond all doubt. A word to you guys, there must be something more fun than making fun of other people's beliefs no matter how ridiculous they are. It's not like you have greater peace of mind as is apparent.

Nice projections. You portray feelings you don't really feel very well. Bravo

You didn't get off scott free. You just didn't post. You musta learned diversionary tactics from Houdini. Always haranguing us so much we never get to wonder about you. 5k, Don't post anything till she does. I'm not sure Spike did either. But she sabi dis great films cuz of hype. Imagine. I posted 40! 40 everything! With little encyclopedias as reasons too! I'm now mad at you MadMax.

Beauty is still in the eyes on the belooker. And Meryl is an older woman. And I wasn't only talking of the skin deep beauty, hence her being ugliest as the most fashionable Devil in Prada.

I heard that JK has kicked Fox out with her 'baggages'. Maybe Spike moved in. That way they can both hate on one of the richest cinematic experiences I've seen in modern times.

Max, Precious is not one of those films. Though set in Harlem, I think, as I said the story is universal and you just wonder about the silent sufferings of people like Precious around the world.

I don't think Mr. Obinna has ever posted something at once that I couldn't spurt out with my dying breath. Are you not passionate about anything, sir?

I love Meryl Streep. One day she'll die and I dunno what I'd do. Well, MJ died. I suppose I'd survive.

Julie & Julia

Meryl is a very beautiful woman. I saw half of Mamma Mia cuz of her. Ugliest I've seen her is in Devil Wears Prada and she wasn't so ugly then, was she? Anyways, Julie & Julia reminds me of the terrible decline of the art of filmmaking. This is very true and I'd like to talk about it when I'm in the mood. It's like those movies I used to be enchanted with, like over a decade ago. Now. . . . . well, now sucks. You can't find a decent story. When you do, less than decent actors bring it to 'life'. And in the very rare occasion where a decent story finds decent actors, they give the Oscars to some other films and some other actors. Grand master of digression, Vesc. Julie & Julia was great jare and makes me think to stop thinking about lovemaking and start thinking about cooking and eating. Probably they provide the same, uh, gratification and I can cheat on as many freaking food as I please. Some people might point to Streep's constantly high pitched voice and over-dramatisation as some kinda flaws. I think not. I think that is perfect representation of her character who is an American woman totally blown away by French cuisine and culture and who only seeks to be fit in and be French. That is exactly how I think the real Julia Child would act; stand out from trying to blend. Amy Something, who played Julie, was good too. Extremely easy to like. I'm glad they didn't force a typical happy ending down my throat. I'm glad Julie never met Julia.

Stanley Tucci was great, as usual. One day he'll land a lead role in a great movie and get the recognition he deserves. . . . . . . or maybe not.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Before this animation, I had seen Astro Boy (too juvenile for a juvenile mind like mine), 9 (which was so extremely disappointing for me, I don't even wanna go into it) and Planet 51 which I had the least expectations for and which wasn't bad at all (what's the deal with all the latinos in the end credits though?). Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was really a delight. From beginning to end. It had so many rich little characters. Even the stoic one big eyebrow dad was so awesome. There was the hyperactive cop. The hypoactive doctor from Guatemala. The quintessentially crooked mayor with more than a few crooked bones. There was at the centre of it all a young scientist who I can relate to in more than a few ways. The soundtracks! Jeez. I loved the second to the last piece, It's Raining Sunshine I think. Awesome! Last song I liked like that was Sheryl Crow's in Bee Movie which happens to be about sunshine too. Up has nothing on this movie jo. Far better in my opinion abi na IMO nowadays. This makes the second animated movie Sony pictures made that blew me away. The other is Surf's Up. Sigh. The great ones get no thumbs up, only Up did.

Lol, 5k. Most things already are within that range. I liked it though.

I saw a lotta movies lately. Still watching some sef. Two surprised me.

PRECIOUS

I first heard of this film on Oprah when she had Mariah Carey over (I don't watch Oprah, Oprah watches me) and I sorta knew it was a serious film. I didn't know it would be this disturbing. After twenty minutes I could not bear to continue but a creepy sense of duty made me carry on. It was like I was trying to run from the reality that is the life of some people. It was the least I could do to just be a witness. I was wondering how many people are living the awful life of poor, strong and precious Precious. Credits to Mo'Nique who I've never really liked but who by far and away deserved that Oscar. I don't like BET. I don't like Tyler Perry (who happened to executive produce the film with Oprah). I'm glad I saw The Blind Side before this film. If I saw it after, I'd be a really mad man. I never thought Bullock's performance, as great as it was, merited an Oscar. After seeing Precious I feel moreso. The Blind Side pales into invisible compared with Precious. I hate films that win Oscars because of sentimental reasons and cuz it makes some sumbitches sleep better at night. Precious is not one of such films. The film was perfect. No quarter asked. None given. Straight up shit. If you don't like it, too bad. You're not supposed to even like it sef. You're supposed to accept it. The only comic relief came in the form of the very adorable Jamaican chicka. Everything else had me really sober and sombre. I was deeply disturbed by the film (even all the greasy food in the film scares you) and that's a hard thing to do to me. Precious could have been a documentary. It was that real.

Lol. If you were sweet souffles, I'd eat you up and forget to save any of you. I'd miss you though. Trust me, you'll like Watchmen. If you don't, I'll pay off that Scuzzi loanshark. Just remember not to be distracted by all the special effects. Lol. I meant The Matrix, not with the sequels. I'll post the reviews later. I'll be in the mood, naughty woman.

Holy Dalai Lama! I swear, if people knew how much effort it takes me not to make wisecracks at most things, they'd make me a saint. I think JeSoul talked about this movie too. Your thoughts are eerily similar, you siamese dudes.

Max, if you haven't seen Watchmen, I highly recommend it. Forget the gadgets and super powers. That film has one of the best philosophical stuff ever. Like The Matrix. I was torn between the big picture and an even bigger picture. I've been watching movies too. Mightily impressed with two. I may or may not post a review. Depends on my mood. Now, off to sleep like everyone else.

Write all the time, whether you feel like it or not. That makes you a better writer. Never write when you don't feel like it. That makes you just an author. I hope you understand.

If all else goes to hell, write about your writer's block.

JeSoul. Savour your small victory and quit being Olivia Twisty. I don't crush easy, woman. Don't get your drawers in a twist. Lol.

Repo Men already. Jeez. When. . . . if we're through with that, maybe we can do Clash of the Titans as it's clearly the object of such disdain and loyal look-the-other-way-ance.

Bros Jk. Max doesn't like tuesdays much. It's nothing personal. The love will return tomoro. But you gotta hand it to her. It'll be nothing personal when I call you Fox-for-brains anytime soon. Oh, lookie! I believe I just did! Cheer up, old sport.

I don't think Prince of Persia will be out till may. I initially had reservations about casting Jake as the prince but I think I'll gladly eat my reservations. Nonetheless, I don't like seeing the Olga chic (pardon me, the name is stuck to my brain cells) in there. She's outta place in my opinion.

I vote Repo Men for no other reason but to take sadistic pleasure in making our job difficult. Then there's the other matter of my tiny microscopic crush on JeSoul but that doesn't figure. Have at it, blokes.

You can imagine how terrible I felt to see him in Star Trek. My tummy did a less than subtle stunt. That guy is a travesty. A travesty that surprisingly makes some money off the unfortunate state of affairs of the black people. Luckily I've only seen three of his films. More than enough

Is Tpia angry at some son of a bitch? Fetch me his (or her) IP address and I'll toast his (or her) computer for you. I missed the episode with Justkunmi but I suspect he went ballistic cuz he probably thought the meaning of the 'm' in parentheses after his name was apparent. Maybe it was after you thought him a woman that he put it there, I dunno. Anyways, you both apparently just got off the wrong foot. He's a nice guy and I think you are too, whatever gender you are
