TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Vicjustice: 10:44pm On Aug 20, 2013
Hello All,

I'm in desperate need of urgent advice.

I am very new to this forum so forgive me if my questions have been previously answered a thousand times before...

My partner and I are coming home to get married this year, after dating for almost 2 and half years...

We've gone through the UKBA website and are comfortable in the areas of accommodation and finance

He has his own 3 bed house on a mortgage and lives there on his own.... And he's got a good job earning well over the £18,600.. Threshold...(- he is also British.)

The only problems we have are, I am overstayer on a visitors visa(, and i have overstayed for almost a lifetime)...and I took up employment in my name...

Also last year, I had an op for which I wasn't billed ( well, not yet) as I have an NHS number..

We have been asvised by a lawyer that it is better to disclose the work in a cover letter he writes in support of my application, to the BHC, and he also advised us to call the NHS to pick up the bill first before applying as I could be refused on this basis.

Do you think it's better to call NHS and ask them for a bill or wait until it is raised as an issue at BHC in Naija.

Would you also think it wise to include the work part in the cover letter or not.

Is it better to keep mum on this and If I am called for the interview, and it is asked, them I would open up about it?

Not sure if it helps, I've never made any application in the home office, neither have I come under the arrest or attention of police or immigration in the UK...

Thank you very much....
I'll get back to you in good time

codeninja: Hi Friends.

I got an invitation to attend a Software Developer summit in the UK in October.
The summit organizers are sponsoring my Travel and Hotel costs.

I just finished university (B.Sc.) in July, and not yet mobilized for NYSC. I have a part-time job in the university though. I dont have much considerable earnings though (average about N70k a month).

I want to access my chances of getting a business Visa.

I have a Letter of Invitation from the Summit Organizers.
I can get a letter of Introduction from my place of (part-time) work.
I have got a parents that have steady income in their accounts.
I traveled to the USA last year for a similar summit (while still a student though), but my passport went missing, so I have had to get a replacement.

Thanks
Is this a testimony?

omobee23: Justwise, I am new on this forum. I am really trying to catch up with how to communicate well here.Seem not difficult at all. I have been given a UK Family Vist Visa after a year of appeal procedure. Finally BHC has withdrawn their initial decision and I have received my visa. In my last application that resulted into the refusal, I wanted to spend two weeks with my brother. Given the Visa, I want to spend three weeks vacation in the Uk with my brother's family this time. I hope there won't be any discrepancy at the aiport-that my last application says 2 weeks and ticket three weeks. i need to know befor e i buy my ticket.
The number of days that you stated during the application is mainly for formality and reference purposes, it does not bind you to limited duration of stay except if there is a clause in the visa conditions resulting in your visa carrying a "remark". Otherwise, you may stay for up to 6 months per visit

SOTAJ: Dear All,
Please I have an issue bothering my mind. My wife and my 2 kids intend to travel to the U.K on holiday. My wife and my son (2yrs old) both have valid visas for the trip since this is not their first trip to the UK, but we need to get an entry clearance for my daughter cos she wasn't born the last time we all went to the UK on vacation (she is almost 2 months old).

I would like to ask the gurus in the house if she wouldn't be seen as too young for an entry clearance to be applied for, on her behalf by the entry clearance officer? ( My son was like 8 months old when we applied for his first visa in 2012)

Kindly assist ?

Justwise and Vicjustice, your inputs will be highly appreciated.

Thank you
An individual visa is required for every baby, only the babies in their mother's womb are exempted.

fados4sure: You have been ban for 10yrs. I bet you, if you go now, they will arrest you
No, he won't be arrested, they could have arrested him during the failed application, but now that that application is done away with, they will only impose the unpardonable ban
TravelRe: I Need To Know by Vicjustice:
Olusola07: thanks all for your insight, but according to the refusal letter given to me at the embassy i dont think i have been banned cos it was also written there that any further future application will result to a ten years ban,and that is if i dont clarify myself concerning the forged document,so that was why i was given the chance to still review in other to show that the statement was a mistake.so i still have a chance of reapplying if i should get a letter from my bank that the statement was a mistake, but the appropriate time to reapply tongue.please how do i get in touch with justwise?
The bank gave you a false bank statement by "mistake", and you did not check the balance to ensure that balance figure in it is exactly the amount of money that you have in your account?
There's no need to try to encourage yourself over what is never to be, you will only loose your money if you try to apply for a visa until after 10 years.
TravelRe: I Need To Know by Vicjustice: 4:38pm On Aug 19, 2013
Olusola07: i applied for a UK sport visitor visa, but it was refused solely on the fact that a forged bank statement was included, but due to my own ignorance, and was also stated that my right of appeal is limited.but there was no time to review it,so the 28 days given has gone what do you think i can still do.
Apply again in 2023 because, you've been banned.

StephGirl: Thanks VicJustice...Unfortunately if I have a better way of getting the info, I won't be here to ask.
It works slightly differently here than it does in Nigeria. For example, I would have submitted a postal application with a postal order for the application fee. I also would have booked for a priority application as everything is clearly specified. And if you are in doubt, you call or send an email and you will get a response. I have been calling the number provided on VAC website and it never went through. I also sent an email and got no response. Hence my being here seeking some help.
I thought you guys know more on how it works in Nigeria that's why I asked.
Thanks for the attempt to answer though.
I understand how frustrating sending emails or making phone calls to government offices could be, so I will recommend visiting an immigration office in the UK

Darla: good evening everyone. Please I have a question concerning the FAMILY VISITORS UK visa. I have all the necessary documents from my brother who works and has a family in England. I have been ill for almost 6months and before that,I worked for a company with lots of financial issues. Due to my illness, someone else was emplyed in my place. He wants me to come over and rest for a while. The change of environment will help me recover better. However, the issue is with convincing the authorities I will be coming back . I am only applying for a 6months visa. I don't have a job and d last payment to my account from this company was in January. I am not married. I am not a student. My last visa app was in 2010 as a student. Please I need ur advice. Thank u.
You're asking for advice on how to achieve something that is not to be. I believe you know too well that your narrated circumstances do not qualify you for a visa: First of all, your reason(s) for wanting to travel to the UK does not hold water, and you neither have job nor finance to fulfill the requirements: not even a naive visa officer will see you deserving a visa.

StephGirl: Hello Justwise and Vicjustice...I would be glad if someone would answer my query.
I am currently doing my PhD in the UK on a tier4 visa till 2016. I recently got married to a tier2 immigrant and would like to change to his dependant to save school fees costs especially. Unfortunately I have to do this in Nigeria. I plan to do this from Abuja soon.
My questions are:
1. Does the priority visa service apply to tier 2 dependants as well? I checked vac website and saw that tier 4 cannot use it, but nothing said for tier 2.
2. Assuming 1 is not possible, what is the expected processing time?
3. The visa fee should be paid at a Sterling bank as stated on their website, or has this changed?
4. A designated person can collect the visa when issued right?
5. If for whatever reason the visa is denied, what will happen to my current permit. Will it be cancelled?

Hope to hear a response soon.
Regards...
For question 1, 2, 3 and 5, i think you're in a very good position and location to get first-hand information from the office of the people concerned: i say this because, you are currently in the UK.
As for question 4, the answer is (normally) NO because, under the data protection acts, it is not legitimate for a government office to give a person's documents with personal data to another person except in circumstances where legal representation is officially acceptable. A breach of this would mean a breach of your rights which may entitle you to taking legal actions.

Raphel2011: Hi everyone, first ill like to appreciate the contributions and advice of everyone on this forum. God bless y'all.
I would like to know the processing time to renew uk visiting visa from lagos. I applied on the 5th of this month.
The truth of the matter is I'm kinda scared for some strange reasons. Some of the documents we submitted are:
My dad's statement of account showing he gets a pension of 350k every month and the balance on that account is about 400k. The balance in his other account is 1m. We included some agreements btw him and some of his tenants as well as evaluation cert from jide taiwo stating his 3 buildings worth over 130m. I also included my statement of account that shows I have about 9k dirhams(360k naira), my transcrip, and my school I.d just to show that I live in dubai and I won't wanna stay in their country. I and my fam go to the uk twice every year since 2004 and our previous visa's was 2yrs(2 times) and 5 years that expired 2 months ago. One of the things that bothers me is that in my mum's form, we stated there that she is supported by spouse who earns pension of 350k and rents of over 4m annually. Do you think we would have any problem with the visa renewal?
Any inputs would be appreciated.
Thanks for d anticipated reply.
Though your dad seems to be wealthy in properties and his income is impressive, but i see some problem with the figure of cash available to him.
Under normal circumstances, it is normal for your visa application to be refused (with such available fund which the visa officer may be concerned about as it is not logical for a father with a combine sum of N1.4m to vastly spend the money on a son's visit to the UK especially when he has other children and responsibilities to attend to). But looking into your travel history and the credibility that you (and your family) have earned over the years, the visa officer may want to give you the benefit of doubt: but don't be surprised if the visa is refused this time.
But why do people always ask "how long it takes" after submitting an application?
The fact is, whether you are anxious or not; whether you ask the question or not; whether it is answered or not; whether the time is short or long, nothing can change anything, and the time that it would take an embassy to decide your application can not be influenced: So, i would say, IT TAKES AS LONG AS IT TAKES, and as long as it takes to apply for a fresh tourist visa: usually between 2 weeks and 2 months.

Com'on! What normal person living in the USA that does not have access to the internet, or is he in a prison custody?
Even those in prison custody do have limited and restricted access to the internet.
And if you want to say that the "friend" is in Nigeria and does not have access to the internet, then, how did "he" come in contact with the American woman?
I don't think "he" corresponded with the American woman by posting series of hand-written letters through NIPOST.
I know this is not what you want to hear, but it doesn't make sense to be dishonest with every little thing the Nigerian way

solomonwis: It is not incorrect.

You only need to book an appointment when you are submitting a Tier 4 (student) Visa
https://www.vfs.firm.in/ng-apptsystem/appscheduling/appwelcome.aspx
Like I said, "perhaps the Nigerian online application process is different".
Nigerian citizens applying for a UK visa in European countries can't get to the finish page without making appointment: and payments are also made online.
I think the rampart practices of fraud and the lack of security might have compelled embassies to be demanding manual processes and cash payments from Nigerians in Nigeria.
I appreciate your information.

visa application fee for 6 months is N20,800

This is incorrect, you can't get to the finish page of the online application without choosing an appointment date and time: or perhaps the Nigerian online application process is different

It depends on circumstances and visa type, definitely longer than it would take to make a fresh application, but not as long as it would take to make appeal
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Vicjustice: 5:49pm On Aug 14, 2013
Connoisseur: so could give any reason why you think emphasis was on my personal account?
also how soon can i reapply?
Someone said am having these problems cos my passport is a virgin passport
I didn't see the details in the notice of refusal, so I might not be able to give an accurate explanation for the reasons that your application was refused. But however, I can tell that it is mostly to blame on your business establishment. It is reasonable to know that visa officers use their personal discretions and judgements in deciding an application, therefore, onus is on you to impress and satisfy an officer that your company is organized and that it is established...
In your case, I can see that your application is badly presented (even with an out-of-service phone number of your business partner).
There is no time frame or limit or regulation binding reapplication.
Finally, it is not because you have a virgin passport: every passport is issued in virgin state: An applicant who meets the requirements with a virgin passport will be approved, while the one who fall short of the requirements with loaded passport will be refused
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Vicjustice: 3:47pm On Aug 14, 2013
Connoisseur: You see every money i get goes back into the business so even though I make more than 350k monthly, there is no physical payment to me.
In my case, how do you think I should explain it to the visa officer cos I believe that was a major deciding factor.

About the company, they regret the inconvienence and are moving to reissue another invitation letter with a corresponding letter to their border office.
If you are applying to travel for personal pleasure ie touring, you would have had a problem using your business account, (you would be required to present your personal bank statement). But since your purpose of travel is business related, it is absolutely ok to use your business account
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Vicjustice:
Connoisseur: every single one of them is geninue.
With earnings of N350k monthly, nothing but a badly presented application package could deny you a visa for any country.
By the way, if the "the number on the invitation letter does not exist" does that mean the letter is fake?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Vicjustice:
Connoisseur: Hello justwise

I recieved my application with a 'refusal of entry' clearance
Reason:
-The number on my invitation letter does not exist
-I stated I earn 350k monthly but the balance in my personal account does not justify that I would want to leave the UK willingly after my stay.

I applied for a visa on the 31st of july. i included;
-a letter of invitation from a company i deal with (including evidence of past transactions i.e. reciepts and invoices)
-evidence of company registration with the tax clearance
-minutes of meeting where the invitation letter was discussed and the company accepting to take full responsibility for the expenses
-a company account with a balance of almost 5m naira with a dom account in my personal name with a balance of £16k and a personal account of 700k naira
-marriage certificate and pictures, birth certificates for my twins
-title deeds for a property

If you can, would you explain where i went wrong with this apart from the number part, and how soon i could reapply so as not to appear desperate.

Thank you
Is every one of these mentioned documents genuine, did the visa officer suspect you of misrepresenting you circumstances?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Vicjustice:

Something important came to my mind yesterday and its been bothering me ever since. I remember about 3 years ago, i was refused a canadian study permit. The problem now is i didnt include that in my application( i think there was a part that asked if you have been refused visa before) and that has been bothering me.
Do you think they might find out and refuse my application because of that?
The UK and Canada do not use same database, nor do they compulsively share immigration intelligence (except there are concerns), therefore, it is highly unlikely that they will find you out. But in the unforseen and unlikely event that you're found out, you will get the dreaded 10 years ban
