dalobaba: Hello @justwise... I just want to know if I actually filled the wrong form. My auntie gave me an invitation letter and I filled the form for general visitor. I got a refusal and she's saying I filled the wrong form that I was suppose to fill the family visitor form. I applied 2010 with my mum and I actually filled the family visitor form then tho I was refused but when I was trying to fill this time around I read that I'm not liable to fill the form coz I'm not her sibbling, parent bla bla bla. Please want to know if I truly filled the wrong form.thank you
You filled the right form, your aunt is wrong.

dalobaba: tHanks so much....I will like to know if my auntie over there in the uk can take any action against my refusal over there in this general visitor category. Thanks once again
No, she can't take any action... Though she may have the entitled rights to invite you to visit her, but she doesn't have any legal ground to demand that you be granted the visa, that now comes up to whether you fulfilled the requirements or not
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Vicjustice: 7:56pm On Jul 20, 2013
igbankebabe: Yes Vicjustice, I saw this.. This full time student doesn't work, and is applying for a family visa. His siblings support him financially. Is he expected to have money? If he doesn't work, and receives from family? It is a family visit.

Sorry for the many questions.
Such a person does not meet the requirements, therefore, his/her success chance is NONEXISTENT, or s/he has a ZERO PERCENT chance in my arrogant opinion
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Vicjustice: 7:23pm On Jul 20, 2013
igbankebabe: I did but didn't see anything specific to this. Just that parents/guardians sponsoring a student (adult) stand a little chance. I do not really understand it
"...and as an adult, you are supposed to be financially independent to meet the requirement for a tourist or pleasure visa; for example, you can't be sponsored by anyone if your intended travel is for the purpose of tourism or romance rather than official or compelling family visit (no sponsor's bank account can cover you except in compelling limited circumstances whereby it is deemed reasonable for his sponsorship to be considered)".
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Vicjustice: 5:15pm On Jul 20, 2013
igbankebabe: So would it then be better to say he does not have any savings? As a student, and not present any bank statement? Since a sponsor is taking care of all costs?
But you said you read the article in that link.

i have written an appeal to the laizo court and i want to come to lagos by next week,to their embassy to submit their appeal letter...pls do you have any idea of how long it takes, becos the programme am going for is for aug 22-27 next month...
And you're talking about appeal?
Appeal may take any time between 3 to 18 months, and in some complicated cases, 36 months. How about re-applying
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Vicjustice: 3:36pm On Jul 20, 2013
igbankebabe: Thank you Vicjustice,

I have looked at the article. So if a student is applying for a family visit to see his brother over the holiday, not exactly tourism (but will do some sight-seeing and shopping), why would he not stand a chance if being sponsored as an undergrad student?

Na wa
The standard of your circumstances in Nigeria has to be impressive enough to satisfy the visa officer of your intention to return to Nigeria, therefore, as a person having only as little as N30k as entire savings, it would be near impossible to get a visa

igbankebabe: How do you mean? I just asked a simple question. And yes, I am in the same situation of having a student visit.

I would not lie if it were for me, after all this is a faceless forum.. We all just want awareness. I would really appreciate if you explain undergraduates' chances.

Thank you
igbankebabe: Lakayanababy originally posed the question. Not me. I responded to your answer and wanted to know more.
Well, I'll give you the benefit of doubt.

Why would I waste my time elaborating more on a query that was presented in deception?

mesampy: Hello
Pls i also need advice. My mother wants to apply for a general visit visa to the UK. She has been refused 2 times because they said that they did not believe the funds in her account where sufficient. She is a business woman with a household shop. Can she use her business account to apply for a general visit visa to the UK for herself and my younger sister. She will be staying with a friend in the UK so she wont have to pay for accommodation. What documents does she need to successfully apply pls?

Thank you
If your mother has sufficient fund, she will be granted the visa with relative ease, she won't be facing the kind of difficulties that younger applicants face even with the minimum of documents.
Whether to support her application with her mini business account or not depends on whether the fund is deemed available for her use or not

It will take only a fool-hardness mentality to continue dealing with this obvious syndicate who professes himself a visa agent: you should consider yourself fortunate that it is Egypt that is involved, it could have been the EU or the USA that would get you banned for life, yet, you would get into trouble with this also

lakayanababy: Hello Vicjustice and Justwise and other experienced forumers,

Can you advise on a visiting visa application? My cousin is an undergraduate student and wants to apply to visit his brother in Newcastle for 2 weeks. His brother is sponsoring his entire visit. Now, is it wise to answer no to 'do you have any savings'? he does but it is not a lot (only about 30, 000), and he does not want this to count against him. Or can he just say no? Are students expected to submit bank statements even though they are being fully sponsored?

What are his chances as his parents are retired and this brother supports him from the UK?

What strong ties can a student show apart from sponsor's documents - invite, bank statements, utility bills, payslips, pictures, passport page (british), birth cert; his school documents (letter from school, admission letter, receipts, etc), birth cert, passport?

Thank you
His chance of getting the UK visa is nonexistent, in other word, he has zero percent chance

You could have gotten the visa in one go if you had presented your application with better preparedneess.
I'll encourage you to do a Google search and read Wikipedia about the areas of interest that you'd wish to see so that you may present better reasons for wanting to visit the UK... It is not a credible enough reason that you want to travel to Europe just to see a child birth

If an "uncle" is your sponsor in applying for a UK tourist visa, and you intend to make a solo travel, I doubt your chance is up to 5%: however, the chance may be higher if the "uncle" is accompanying you and the trip is for the same purpose

princessmoi: Hey Justwise,

I went through the previous thread and i saw most of the questions being answered. My friend got his maintenance fee complete on Tuesday the 17th he should be applying the 12th of August i guess he is using his mom's account, he is still waiting to receive his CAS on Monday though his school has agreed on an extension for two weeks (school was to start the 5 of Sept.) which will be included in the CAS letter.

Fees were paid in full.

Docs he will be submitting;

Cert. stated in CAS plus CAS

Study leave letter from employer plus his pay slips

His mom bank statement plus a letter from his mom also and his birth certificate (he bears the same surname but mum has a different surname spelling on the bank statement but though same pronunciation, hope it is ok with the birth certificate?) Its the same spelling on his birth certificate.

TB test results

Letter from his brother who is currently in the UK, he will be staying with him...

2 passport size pics

Application fee

TOEFL score

Hope we aint missing anything?
Same thing as asking "what documents that are needed..."

aronkyshire: Pls vicjustice justwise and co. Help!!!!!!

quote author=aronkyshire]Hello All,
Thanks for this informative thread and thanks to all the contributors including those whose issues were reviwed here. My story goes thus:

1.I work in a small firm in nigeria. I have been with the firm since Jan 2012 and will bé going on leave in September 2013. I intend spending some part of my leave visiting the UK. I have never travelled before and my international passport is very new. Infact I just obtained it last month

2. My initial salary was 80k per month (960K per annum) making my total take home pay amount to a little over 71k after tax and pension reduction. After a year, I was promoted and my salary increased to 100K per month (1.2M per annum) making my total take home pay to bé a little over 88k. In may, there was a company wide review of Salary and everyone got a 15% salary increase making my current monthly pay to bé 115K per month (1.38M per annum). Therefore my current take home pay is a little over 101K after tax and pension deductions.

3. An old friend of mine who now has a Resident Permit in the UK has offered to invite me for the period of 10 days which I intend to spend visiting the UK. The documents he has sent to me are:

-Biodata page of passport,
-Utility bills
-Resident Permit
-Bank statement
-Temporary Job contract agreement (he is a contract staff)
-Pictures of both of us as evidence that we have been friends
-Waec/Neco cert indicating that we attending the same high school in Nigeria where our friendship started.

4. At my end, I have the following documents:

-Savings Bank statement (having 571K)
-Salary bank statemnt (having 20k)though im still expecting this july's salary of 101k
-Work ID, Employment letter, confirmation letter, promotion letter, letter of Introduction from my coy
-Admission from National Open University for my MBA though i havent started yet till next March.
-Waec/neco result showing that me and my friend inviting me went to the same high school
-Pics showing our friendship over the years.
-Payslips
-Tax clearance which my company is still working on getting for me.

MY PROBLEM
1. I intend applying in 1st week August which makes my 6 months statement to bé from Feb to July. The initial opening bal in my savings acct reads 117k. And all the 571k in the account was paid over a period of 3 months by my fiance who works in canada and does a not registered business on the side of sending laptops and phones for sale in naija. All d account records show his name as d depositor.

2. In May,(the 4th month in my 6 month statement) there was heavy activity in my savings account where my fiance deposited up to 1 million naira within one week into my account gotten from his business as he was trying to avoid the bank charges associated with paying more than 500k into his account at one time. That same month of May, i withdrew 500k twice in order to pay his 1M back into his account. Leaving the acct balance back at 135k.

3. In June because of my travelling plan, he paid 450k (spread over 2 weeks) into my acct making up the 571k i presently have in it now. Over the 6 months, i have been withdrawing too for personal upkeep.

4. My salary account is so low because i spend my money for the upkeep of my aged parents and younger siblings. My fiance practically supports me hence the payment of money into my acct all d time but obviously, d VO wont understand that.

(A)From my points listed above, do you think I have a case of money lodgement?
(B)If yes, how do you think I can explain with evidence that the money is available for my use?
(C) is it wise to say my fiance is sponsoring part of my trip since I an a working adult.
(D) are the documents I intend presenting OK? Or is there something missing?
(E)will the fact that my 1st issued international passport is just less than a month old pose a problem?

Thanks in anticipation of your kind replies. God bless you all
Your question is, Do I think money lodgement is involved in your bank account, and the answer is:
A) YES. But although it is apparent that the lodgements are not solely intended for visa application purpose, but however, it is not looking good that the monies lodged into your account make the majority of your fund, that will definitely be a problem.
B) It may be difficult for you to prove that the money is available for your use since there is apparently no such proof in the account activity prior to this time.
C) It's ok to state that you get financial support from other sources (including from fiance), but I don't see any advantage in such declaration especially as you do not seem to be meeting other financial requirements.
D)...
E) It is not a problem to have a brand new passport as every passport is issued in a brand new state

rakisha: Thanks Vic.

Pls I will appreciate if u can give ur personal opinion on the three questions I asked as I have read all thru d link u redirected me to and havent come across anywhere it was hinted that it is or it isnt shady to register my buying and selling biz two weeks to my application date to prove that d cash lodgements made on my acct are from my extra source of income.

I also cant get concrete info about if 600k is alright for a 10 day visit. I earn 100k and I have been working for the past 4 and half years. I also intend adding my salary acct which has about 180k in it making all my available cash to be 780k. I wont be staying in a hotel. I will stay with my friend who is inviting me.

Thanks pls reply
If a direct answer is what you want to get, I'll tell you that N600K is way too small, I don't see how you can pull it through with that

And i have 600k in my acct with lump sum paid over a period of 2 weeks.

My questions are:
1. Is 600k an okay minimum for a visit of 10days?

2. Can i say that d lump sum was gotten from my customers who paid for my goods which is true

3. I'm just in d process of registering my business name and i hope to get the certificate by 30th. Will it bé fishy to them saying that i registered my biz solely for d purpose of the visa application.

Do not waste money on immigration lawyer, it is not like there is an impediment on somebody's rights: you are only requesting a privilege to visit the UK, and not demanding your rights to do so because, it is neither in your rights nor in your aunt's to have you in the UK.
If you employ the services of a solicitor, on what legal ground would he plead your case?

With your given circumstances, you shouldn't be having much trouble obtaining a UK visa.
Well, if the purpose of the travel is mainly to visit him, you need an invitation letter, you also need to be able to satisfy the visa officer of what you'd be doing in the UK. So, I advice you to study the areas that you may be interested to visit.
Ensure that you have good knowledge of the person inviting you, especially about his circumstances and his accommodation: bear in mind that it is actually easier to book a hotel than to use an invitation letter from a person who you can not satisfyingly give details about
