I am not here to argue with you or say what i dont know. i never said we will not involve the different states. i only meant that we wont involve them in the monetary part of the project. it is different. the major way it will the neighbouring communities is when we dredge wide. i pray we dont dredge wide. dredging deep will only affect the communities in abia state because the surge flow will splash into their communities. that is what i am saying 1 Like |

What everyone needs to understand is that, the eastern region is a relatively small region. Many people may say then, it is a problem. Oh no, it isnt. it is a blessing in disguise. the region is the most strategically located region in nigeria. abia state for instance can connect every other parts of the eastern region within an hour. if you are very intelligent, then you should know what that means in terms of economic capability of the region. what is produced in abia can get to anambra within an hour. No state in the east that is not blessed: Anambra state: oil, agriculture, coal, iron ore and very large human capital development imo: oil, iron ore, agriculture and human capital development enugu: very large deposit of coal and human capital development Abia: oil, agriculture, and very large capital development. ebonyi: home of eastern agriculture, limestone and human capital development. we have other igbo groups i wish not to mention for the sanity of this thread. but in all, we wont beg, we will live well 6 Likes |

Aigbofa: I understand your pessimism and since i am educated and understand how things work, i wont want to argue about anything. we drawing lines doesnt mean that we dont know the due process which we will take before anything will materialize. this is not a politicial project with politicians with low IQ. this is a project which intelligent people who have done research and know that its not the matter of 'if' but the matter of when it will come to pass. 4 Likes |

Eintelekt: the main reason i said we will communicate with these state governors is to alert them that we have a project that will start and it will pass through its region and we will face any consequence if it affects the areas it will pass. we will also assure them that we wont be dredging into their own land but deep into the river. this is not a way of getting a permission but to alert them of what we are going to do. rivers around the world that have been turned to seaport, passed through different neighbouring countries and nothing happened. the igbos as citizens of this country have right of passage through the river and sea. and the way that is very convenient for us to pass, we will make it. we are only going to compensate the neighbouring communities for the time we will be spending there to dredge the river and any environmental damage that may cause them will be paid to them( i doubt there will be any). if the state governors have foresight, they will have to agree to the terms and allow us to create our own port because it is an indirect boost to their economy. 3 Likes |

Eintelekt: Yes, though I dont like discussing biafra in public fora. the truth remains that if we're going to undertake this project, we will have to communicate with the governors of these states, akwa ibom and rivers state |

Eintelekt: I am rallying around to get interested people that will make things happen. i have seen people who are already interested in this project but we need more people even in the media that can make this happen. we cant share the whole plan in a forum like this. i tried to create one about it before so that i can rally some people online. i found out that i can only communicate with the very intelligent ones in this forum who didnt reply the thread but sent me a message offline and these were eager. the only problem i have is that we are coming up with economic master plan to make these things come up and if we can handle the economic aspect of this project and see interested people. we will start 3 Likes |

Eintelekt: the truth is that we cant relegate this project to the people living in this areas because it is a very cumbersome project and it will eat deep into their pocket. we are proposing a better way of raising the fund. it will be elastic. the creation of the seaport will not end after creating the seaport but there are other things to be done to ensure the maximum utilisation of the seaport that will benefit the whole region. 2 Likes |

Dhugal: if anyone tries to dam any big river is in for a big problem and the water will submerge the neighbouring communities. that is what they dont understand. the sea is coming to the south east, we wont look for the sea. ask an average person in the south south riverine areas, ask them the depth they dug before they made their boreholes. ask them how the water taste when they first tasted it. this is to show you that the sea is coming, and it is coming very fast. 7 Likes |

Eintelekt: the financial aspect is very cumbersome for the state government of the east to take on but if its privately constructed, then it is possible. the rivers and akwa ibom government shouldnt find it as problem. the dredging exercise will only be deepening the river and not widening the river. the communities close to the river should be happy because it will bring economic life to the region. we all have right of passage and it shouldnt be a problem except we want to dredge to widen the river. the only part we will widen is where the port will be. 6 Likes |
Business / Re: Can The Imo River Take (large) Ships? by VickJames(m): 3:22pm On Oct 31, 2015 |
Aigbofa: the dredging will not be to widen the river but to deepen it. this is not the problem of the other territories because we have right of passage. The only time the problem will arise is if we try to widen the river. that means encroaching their region. the river at the confluence is big and deep. the only thing we need to do is to dig deeper than we have it now, this will make the river what we want it to be. the people in the south south should understand that we dont to interfere with their environment. the only communication we need is the river and it is important. 8 Likes |

udokpuenyi: this is great. should we create a thread to sensitize people who will want to join in this project and achieve it. it will not be a mere NGO work but something that will really stand. i have gotten some emails online and many other like minds offline. there is this drive in the heart of the young igbos and how to accomplish things like this. 6 Likes |
