Russia only has a huge land mass but tat does not translate to strength. Israel on the other hand has little landmass but all their citizens are compulsorily trained in warfare and are reservists of different regiments of the army.

While a war between the two will lead to major losses on both sides, Israel having the upper hand on its own is a big fat joke. Without western support for Israel, Iran is capable of inflicting crippling losses to Israel not to talk of Russia.

South African authorities are just being sensible. Everything is not power show. If Putin arrives and they fail to arrest him, they are the ones to bear the whole brunt of the issue. I don't think it's reasonable to see fire and dip your hand in it. South Africa is already going through difficult times in it's economy, sanctions from the west will simply cripple it's economy and make them useless to virtually anyone including the BRICS members. Plus arresting Putin and handing him over to ICC is also equal to damnation. So this is a win-win situation for them. Russia can send a representative like Lavrov or Mishustin, it's the same thing.

It was not a Russian that was leading the German Wehrmacht nor was Moscow the capital of Germany neither were there many Germans formerly living in Russia. There was also no peace treaty between Western Nigeria and Biafra. Then wars don't end with treaties. Treaties are only signed to prevent or forestall war. Since Igbos don't seem interested in Nigeria and they never were, it's only logical to let them go for peace to reign. When the Soviet Union collapsed, the independent states fared much better than in the union and the region is much richer. Imagine if the Baltic states remained in ussr today or South Korea had been forced to be in union with the north or Singapore being stuck with Malaysia. They wouldn't have achieved as much as they have now. Colonial borders is one of the reasons why Africa has been evolving agonizingly slowly due to civil wars, unrest and oppression. Unity is no longer unity when it's been forced.

Lagos WAS a federal territory and is no longer the capital of Nigeria but Lagos' economic development and strides was as a result of that previous status. I'm Igbo and I will definitely not be pleased if other tribes are making similar claims to enugu or onitsha because of it's past status.

My own chip on the matter is that ojukwu made a very big mistake in invading Lagos, a mistake similar to that of Hitler invading Soviet Union. It wasn't really necessary and only allowed Nigerian troops more space to advance into the south Eastern region.
Secondly, he could have brokered a peace deal with Nigerian authorities to allow the five Eastern states and portharcourt to secede since it seems the others weren't keen on separation.
